A private, gated mini-estate in Carmel offers a peaceful place for every member of the family, with plenty of room to spread out in the main house and a guest suite on a half-acre lot framed by live oaks, redwoods and Monterey pines.
The property is located on a quiet cul-de-sac and has a secluded feel, yet is just a few blocks away from shopping, dining and other attractions in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. Built in 1949, the 2,600-square-foot main house has been updated and renovated but still has a mid-century modern vibe. White-washed open beam ceilings, natural stone floors, and skylights and large windows that let in natural light are highlights of this home.
Besides being just a 10-minute walk from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, the home is also close to the beach. It’s also only a short drive to monarch butterfly sightings in Pacific Grove, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Downtown Monterey, Carmel and golfing in Pebble Beach are 10 minutes away by car, and other attractions within a half hour’s drive are the natural wonders of Big Sur, and wine tasting and dining in Carmel Valley Village.
Living Spaces
A formal living room near the entry is outfitted with cozy upholstered sofas, a perfect place for watching movies on the 48-inch HDTV, reading or working on your laptop.
The great room features hardwood floors, a seating area around the 85-inch HDTV and decorative fireplace, and a bar area with a sink.
On one side of the great room a large dining table seats 10.
Downstairs, the lower level boasts a rec room with a sofa, 60-inch HDTV, a half-bath and a convertible ping-pong / billiard table.
Kitchen and Dining
The recently updated kitchen features solid surface granite counter-tops, counter seating for two, and stainless steel gas appliances including a double oven and a four-burner cook-top in the kitchen island.
The large dining table located in the great room is a wonderful space to enjoy meals together or step out the sliding door from the living room to the large deck outside, where a gas grill and outdoor seating are located.
The back yard is fully-fenced and also offers a deck with comfortable patio furniture and a gourmet gas grill, a perfect spot for an afternoon barbecue or a glass of wine in the evening.
A large laundry room near the kitchen has a washer, dryer, a sink, ample counter space and back yard access.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
In the main house, Bedroom #1 includes a king bed, a walk-in closet, hardwood floors and a 48-inch HDTV.
The en suite bath features a large shower with grab bars and removable shower head.
Bedroom #2 has a king bed and Bedroom #3 has a queen bed. These bedrooms share a hall bath with a combo tub/shower.
Bedroom #4: Across the back yard is the detached 332-square-foot guest cottage, which has a queen bed, seating area with a love seat as well as a small table with chairs, and an en suite full bath with shower. The kitchenette includes a small fridge, sink, coffee maker and toaster oven.
The half-bath on the lower level of the main house has a closet for storing beach items and other gear.
Another half-bath is located on the upper/main level near the living spaces.
Other bonuses are a two-car garage and ample parking space that is private and protected.
