This is a unique stone house that was owed by a famed civil war bushwhacker. While the house was recently restored it still beams with old time charm. The home sleeps 12 people comfortably and has two full kitchens and two full baths. It is nestled in the middle of a 300 acre working cattle farm just minutes from restaurants, wineries, and activities.
Built in 1832, the house was the childhood home of Sam Hildebrand, who was an infamous civil war guerrilla fighter. Come walk the same fields and sleep in the same place as one of Southeast Missouri’s biggest outlaws.

Beautiful historical home with all the modern amenities!

Stayed here with family on a quick weekend for a birthday party. Legit wished we had been able to spend more time here at the Hildebrand House. It was lovingly restored and everything is so eclectic and fun just to look around and see. Beds are super comfy, and we had everything we needed for our stay.

Great place that felt like home

Found this great place while planning a trip to St. Joe state park. Loved how close it was to the park and how secluded it was. Lots of cool history to the house and they made sure to have enough documented stuff in there you could understand how special the place was. Will definitely be coming back

Beautiful cottage

The pictures for this listing are beautiful and the cottage in person is even more stunning. There was the perfect amount of space to enjoy a very relaxed bachlorette party weekend. Everyone who came was very impressed with the property and amenities. The hosts were very responsive to any questions and checked up during the stay to ensure all was well. I would highly recommend and look forward to going back in cooler weather to explore more around the area.

Amazing History and Amazing Cabin

We loved our time at the Hildebrand Stone House! We stayed with our 5 grandchildren, ages 5-13, who loved the experience of living in the past with modern luxuries sprinkled in for comfort. The history of the home was so intriguing. The cabin was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We do not have one complaint about our stay. The hosts thought of everything to make our experience exceptional!

What a beautiful hidden gem. Our family was heading to the gulf and needed a place to relax for a night. The historic house was perfect. We wish we would have planned for more time. Family trip

If you’re on the fence about booking this property, do it !! We had the most wonderful stay! This is a very private area out in the middle of nowhere, but also close to town, so you have that country setting but only a few minutes away if you need something. Pictures do not do this property justice, It is beautiful! And your host has literally thought of everything you could need this place was made for comfort right down to the bed ! Check-in was super easy! The place was clean and smelled great! Everyone that stayed with us said they definitely want to come back ! A great place to unplug , but they also have WiFi if you’re not into that too !

Family Reunion

My son and his family from Texas met up with my Sister and her family from GA for a wedding celebration in nearby De Soto/Festus area. We loved EVERY aspect of this property from the beautiful view for morning coffee on the porches to the amazing shade for afternoon tea. Beds were amazing, the peaceful surroundings and quiet made rest such a blessing. We had everything we needed and would love to stay again when we r in the area. Another amazing stay

We have stayed here before and kept coming back to “We should really stay there again”. Upon arrival we were once again blown away by how beautiful and well appointed the home is. This is a very historic house in the middle of one of our farms that had fallen into disrepair. We wanted to save this treasure and allow others to enjoy the home on this peaceful piece of property.

This house is must for history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts. It is 2 miles away from the Bonne Terre mines which is known for its unique scuba diving. We are also close to many state parks and wineries.
