This was our fourth visit to Puerto Duquesa (which we have fallen in love with) where we have stayed in different properties which were nice enough but had one or two issues. Not on this occasion. We were delighted with this apartment; so much so that we booked it again for next year whilst we were there. It is spacious and very well equipped with everything in good working order. The one thing we especially loved is the terrace. It is very large and gets the sun all day. It's furnished with sun loungers, a large table and chairs. There is also a gas fired barbeque. The apartment has its own parking space in the ground floor garage.The location is ideal. The marina with its many good bars and restaurants is virtually on the doorstep. There is also a supermarket across the road. It's a relatively short walk along the promenade to Sabinillas which has a nice beach and beachfront cafes, bars and seafood restaurants.The owner, Richard was very helpful during the booking process and in the runup to our arrival. He put us in contact with Tasha who met us when we got there. She showed us how everything worked in the apartment including the wi-fi and television and where to find the lovely pool and the route to and from the parking garage.Can't wait for next year !

Very impressive apartment with a most helpful owner

Very easy to communicate with the owner who responded very quickly to queries. Detailed instructions on how to get to the apartment and how to meet Tasha who provided us with the keys and an introduction to the many wonderful features of the apartment. Amazing TV with a wide range of programmes to suit all tastes. Underground parking space was most welcome. Excellent position, yards away from Arkwright's Supermarket with a wide range of British products for those who feel more comfortable with home goods. Nearby restaurants and bars catering to all tastes at reasonable prices.Our only problem was with the very low double bed - quite a problem for us old fogies !

Mikonos Playa Duquessa Stay

Property location was excellent with a 1 minute walk to Marina and bars and restaurants. Property itself was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay with the bonus of the huge terrace furnished with sunbeds and a patio table. The pool area was very pleasant and clean, only thing required around the apartments is a fresh lock of paint otherwise brilliant and would use again.

Best terrace in Duquesa!

We spent a week in Richard’s apartment for our first family holiday with 2 under 2 babies, and it was perfect! House was spotless, tastefully decorated and with a lovely bright living space, it had everything we needed. The terrace is the perfect family space, our babies spent all day playing safely outside, loving every minute. Richard was prompt and very helpful at responding to my many questions before our arrival. Location was the best you could get, 1 minute walk to beachfront and 1 minute to the port. Thanks again, this apartment and holiday will always bring happy memories!

We have stayed in Duquesa everyyear forthe past 10 years, and i can say this is the best place we have stayed in over the years, we had the appartment from the 1st November 2010 and apart from the previous person turning the hot water off we had no problems, I wouldnow say that if we cant get this appartment we will not go back untill its available I would recommend it to anyone going to Duquesa, Thank you Richard and hope to be in touch soon regards Bill &Joan

One month @ #1 Mikonos

We thoroughly enjoyed our full month in Puerto de Las Duchesa. The apartment is gorgeous is and is in a perfect location, traffic even if nearby is not loud at all. The huge patio is a bonus but we didn’t get to use as much as we wanted because some days were cool and windy. Lots of pubs restaurants all nearby and short walk along each end N & S from the marina to other areas. Bus service is not great as not too many stop here. Estepona is 15 minutes away by car and is worth visiting. Only issue and its minor is the main shower, the installation of the shower head holder is very high up and would be better at least 18” lower as my wife has no chance of reaching it and I need to stand in the tub to reach the unit. All in all we would stay here again and many thanks to Richard with correspondence back and forward. Tom & Sheila , Edmonton , AB. Canada.

Perfect Apartment

We have just returned from this apartment in Duquesa and have to say that it was just perfect. From booking the apartment with Richard and his recommendation for car hire (which was excellent) to his directions to the apartment. We didn't have much experience of driving abroad but were happy to find that the transfer from Malaga airport to the apartment was relatively straightforward. When we arrived at the apartment we couldn't believe how lucky we had been to find such a beautiful apartment in a lovely area. The apartment had everything you could possibly need. It was really like being at home only better!! There was even lots of paperback books, cds and dvds to keep you entertained. Not that you needed it. The view from the enormous sun terrace was lovely and you could either just sit and read (in the sun all day) or watch the world go by. It was just a short stroll (1 minute) to the little bars and restaurants around the harbour. We only went for a week but there is certainly enough places to visit for a lot longer stay. Both myself and my husband would like to stay at the apartment again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends and family.

Perfect Easter weekend getaway !

We arrived at Malaga airport at around 11pm. The taxi ride took around 1hr 15mins to get to the apartment. Even though it was incredibly late, Karen still met outside of the apartment and showed us around answering all of our questions. The apartment couldn’t have been in a better location! The shop opposite is open 365 days a year from 9am to 9pm, the beach was 50m away and the bars and restaurants were open from 9am to midnight - everything was right on the doorstep! No taxi or car needed! The terrace was perfect! We watched the sun rise in the morning and set at night. We lucked in with the weather whilst we were there and even had to put the air conditioning on on the Sunday as temperatures hit 29 degrees! The brand new sun loungers were lovely. Would I return again - absolutely! My friends and I even looked at buying a villa in the area as it was such a little hidden gem. Recommendations - it would have been great to have use of the safe. There was one in the apartment but Karen informed us it was broken. Looking to book the apartment again soon. A perfect few days away. Couldn’t have been happier.

Room for improvement.

We stayed in the apartment for 10 nights in August 2023. It's in a great location, with use of a lovely pool and there was never an issue finding sunbeds near the pool. It's a large apartment with a beautiful sun terrace and the interior has nice, modern furniture. Unfortunately there were some issues that adversely affected our stay. The whole apartment needs a deep clean. We had to mop the entire floor on the first day. We also had to wash the pillow protectors. They were stained and smelt of sweat! The windows were ill-fitting, most were not lockable except for the outside shutters that we had to keep shutting each we left the apartment. There was a safe in the wardrobe which would have been nice to use. However, it was broken and we were informed that it had been for many years. There is a lot of noise from outside, especially late at night & early in the morning (traffic, the shutters on the underground car park and people waiting for taxis at the taxi rank opposite.) This might not have been as noticeable if the windows were better fitting. There are two showers. However, the shower cubicle was not usable due to a dirty, blocked shower head so the water was reduced to a trickle. I did try to sort this myself with some lime scale remover. But it didn’t improve. It was advertised with whirlpool bath in the ensuite bathroom but again this had mould & dirt in the jets. The kitchen needs restocking with simple items such as small bowls for cereal and glasses for juice.

Apartment was great had everything we needed. The terrace was amazing, huge. Lovely views, great location. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the 2nd bathroom walk in shower needs a new head, the water spouted out all over the place.. we will definitely be returning.

Estancia tranquila

Hemos estado unos días en familia y hemos estado muy cómodos. Apartamento muy cerca de la playa y del puerto donde hay gran variedad de restaurantes. La piscina, aunque con el agua demasiado caliente, está muy bien, poca gente y muy tranquila. Alojamiento recomendados para pasar unos días de descanso.

Hi, my name is Richard, I live in Hertfordshire, UK and bought the apartment off plan in 2002, it was completed in 2004 and I started renting the apartment out that year. Since then I have come out to Duquesa at least 3 times a year with my family and/or friends for relaxation and fun. I endeavour to give all of our guests a 'home from home' feeling during their stay, whilst offering the apartment at very competitive prices. I look forward one day to being able to stay in No.1 Mikonos Playa for an extended period one day, however work commitments mean that we've been unable to achieve that as yet, so until that time please enjoy the apartment, its terrace and the surrounding area as much as we do throughout the year. I bought No.1 Mikonos because of its location, orientation and terrace, spending 3 times more than I had intended so that I could have the all day sun on its huge terrace and watch the sunrise out of the sea whilst having just a 50m stroll to the marina. Its all been worthwhile, the apartment is everything I it to be and more, the guests love it as much as I do, coming back year after year.

The large terrace is what everyone raves about, its private, its got all day sun and views, that's not to say the interior isn't lovely too, other apartments also have good and well maintained interiors, but none have the huge south west facing private terrace, its for all of these reasons that No 1 Mikonos is the most popular rental apartment in Duquesa.
