Booked online through Wotif. What I wasn’t prepared for was being inundated with emails and a phone call from the property.
First was the Wotif confirmation (as expected), then an email from the property, then an email from VRBO confirming the booking, followed up by a phone call that they were sending an online registration that I needed to complete, followed up by 5 more emails from the property and then finally one more email from the property the day before checkout reminding me of the rules and timelines surrounding checkout. That was one email from Wotif, one email from VRBO, one phone call from the property and seven emails from the property, all for a two night stay!
Checkin and check out was contactless. It seemed everywhere you turned there were notices about the rules surrounding garbage and recycling do’s and dont’s, reminders to double check for items left in the room, ensuring dishes and appliances were cleaned, ensuring lights and appliances were turned off, etc. etc. Most of these were under the veiled threat of fee’s being assessed if things weren’t done as required.
The actual unit was basic accommodation with basic furnishings. Couches were in need of cleaning and a couple of the kitchen chairs had loose legs (one was missing a screw and was unsafe to sit on). The window ledge above the toilet hasn’t seen a dust cloth in quite some time.
On the plus side, Port Fairy is a wonderful little
Town with great restaurants and vibe.
