vacation ruined by insect infestation
We rented for our normal 5 week stay in Spain. The property is a one bedroom ground floor apartment with yards of the beach. We had stayed in this Las Mimosas complex before but not in this particular apt. Our Holiday began to turn sour after only two days when the bedroom (the only one) began to show signs of crawling and flying ants that seemed to come from the wardrobe/ it got worse and worse and despite us using spray and having been asked to vacate the property for 24 hours so they could fumigate. we did this but to date we have not been reimbursed the cost. The insects still kept coming and we just could not sleep in the bedroom. whilst the owner kept getting the place treated by pest control we were not offered any alternative accommodation which we are extremely upset about. We eventually moved put 10 days early as we were becoming more distressed and upset about the continue presence of these insects, on the bed, in the bed, on the floor, in our clothing everywhere in the bedroom. to date the owner has given us back 9 days rental but no compensation or a refund on the hotel we had to stay in while the pest control did their job. i have reported this to VRBO but i am disappointed in their response so far. This entire experience has been a distressing one and not the holiday we were looking forward to. I would welcome someone from VRBO or the Owner to take a little more interest.
