We booked three weeks at Gardener's Cottage, at short notice, and were immensely pleased that we did. The cottage stands in its own grounds in the village of Shipton-under-Wychwood and has a good sized parking space out front. It's built in the lovely, yellow, Cotswold stone, complete with stone shingles, but has been well refurbished without altering the character of the place. Downstairs are two large living rooms, one with a useable log stove, a dining room and large, well equipped kitchen. Upstairs are three reasonably sized bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The bathroom off the main bedroom is huge, well appointed and has a great walk-in shower, two sinks, and the washer and dryer (in a cupboard!).
The walled garden is large, given over to grass and it has a big patio area complete with outdoor furniture and a small barbeque. While we didn't get the weather to sit outside much, it was sheltered and looked lovely.
The whole cottage was clean and tidy, and came with all linens, There was a large welcome pack of things like coffee, tea, and eggs, which was much appreciated. The kitchen was large enough and sufficiently well equipped to have prepared a considerable meal for quite a few guests.
There were books, games and DVDs provided, and two TVs. Internet was provided, and the owners had done well to make sure that most of the house had Wi-Fi coverage, given the thickness of the walls.
The road outside was reasonably busy, but the whole house is fully double-glazed and road noise simply was not an issue.
We spent three very comfortable weeks at Gardener's Cottage, feeling that it really was a home from home, and would happily spend another three weeks there.
I would highly recommend this cottage to any families wishing to spend time in the Cotswolds.
