4/10 – Mangelhaft

Very small and expensive, would suit 2 people not 4.
Our Family have spent 10 years holidaying in Chapel Street, Looe, staying in 3 different properties all of which have been lovely and reasonably priced for August.
After our previous good experiences of cottages in Looe, this cottage was well below standard and not as advertised.
There were no welcome sweets, biscuits or milk as note from owner suggested. After the first night of our stay the kitchen smelt of vomit, which we found to be the fridge drip tray that was full of mouldy water so we cleaned it and the smell went away.
Advertised was a washer/dryer. This was not so, only a washer so we had to dry things on the towel rail in the tiny bathroom which, when turned on in August made the bathroom too hot to go in. Very disappointed that I had no way of drying beach towels and swimsuits let alone do a wash of laundry. A Family of 4 at the beach each day for a week and I couldn't dry a thing or even hang it anywhere.
The tiles around cooker were dirty and greasy to touch. There was no pepper, or condiments (only hard salt) which I thought was bit tight. Also No bin liners or tea towels. One of the lights in the kitchen flashed on and off all the time (Husband looked at changing bulb but lights are sealed)
The under stairs cupboard was crammed full of the owners household things, so no storage for our things.
The front room sofas were very comfortable but again there was no storage. The were no DVDs or games for rainy days.
The second bed was not made up when we arrived, luckily a lady in house opposite came in showed us the linen cupboard . The only hanging space was crammed full of stuff which I rearranged to make way for our clothes. The duvet covers had broken poppers. The pop up bed was very uncomfortable. The double bedroom wardrobe was wobbly with door coming off, very easy to pull over on top of you. Any under bed storage (for suitcases) was taken up with household stuff which I had to rearrange to make room for our suitcases. I found a used tissue beside the bed, suggesting that it had not been cleaned thoroughly. Every time my partner moved in bed he woke me up as it was so creaky and uncomfortable so he slept on the sofa. There were winter tog duvets on the beds making it difficult to sleep as we were too hot.
The toilet did have a great shower but again there was no storage, not even for a toothbrush and only half a loo roll was provided.
In conclusion, the cottage is not worth what we paid and should not be advertised as sleeping 4.
