The worst rental experience I’ve had

We were very upset with our stay and the communication between us and the owners/managers?? of the property. We communicated early on that we were having issues with all air conditioners (there are only two… one bedroom doesn’t have any). There were no instructions on how the use them and the remotes were confusing. Once we finally figured it out, despite the system showing it was producing cold air, the air was not getting cold. No one ultimately came to address the problem and we were very uncomfortable during our stay and especially our sleep as it was hot and there are no fans in the apartment! To make it worse, we couldn’t even open the windows because the shades that block out sunlight make it impossible to get any air AND one bedroom didn’t even have screens in the windows, anyways. We received some help via messaging on whatsapp to “troubleshoot” (which arguably shouldn’t be our job as guests) but eventually they stopped responding and never answered our calls when we tried calling them from the start. Our last complaint to the owner/manager was that the freezer didn’t seem to be working, either. It would barely get anything cold, sometimes freezing things then completely thaw randomly (who knows, maybe because it was so hot in the apartment!!). Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. I wish we could get a refund. Spend your money and enjoy your vacation elsewhere. In fact you should probably avoid staying in Catania altogether. Just make a day trip.

Dirty, Broken, Misrepresented

The property was: Misrepresented - amenities and furnishings were nothing like what was pictured in the listing. Filthy Dirty - disgusting everywhere; other peoples hair in the bathroom, filthy shower, filthy toilet. Kitchen was disgusting - dirty fridge, stove. Hair in all the corners of the floors. Every fork and knife had to be cleaned before being used because there was so much dried food on them. Broken and Damaged - every room seemed to have something broken, from toilet seats to door handles to window screens The property manager was initially communicative but then stopped responding. When the cleaner came to clean the apartment, nothing really changed. We were told a technician would come to make repairs, but they did not. We left the apartment early and are waiting for a full refund. No communication received since June 12th. We feel scammed and disrespected. Please respond.

Nice Condo Stay in Catania!

To start off.......our travel day from Amalfi by ferry back thru to Naples by train and on to Catania/Sicily by plane was a long and arduous day!.....but by no means the fault of our condo hostess Sylvia who was so gracious to arrange for our excessively late arrival into Catania due to plane delays in Naples and finally arriving at the condo complex gate at11:00pm! Sylvia's colleague Laura arrived by scooter to greet us and provide entrance to the condo located on the 2nd floor! Laura speaking very little English did a fine job showing us the modern 2bdr 2bath condo with it's nice amenities throughout! We provided our passports for pics and required Itialian travel requirements.......and the municipal occupancy fee payment in cash of 32euros for the 4 of us! The condo is nicely furnished in a modern-style motiff and very clean with very comfortable beds! Air condition units in the living room and 2nd bedroom! The big surprise was the kitchen that was fully stocked with complimentary breads, cereal, crackers, and pastries while the refrigerator was stocked with juices, milk, and eggs!.......Wow.....very nice!.....not found at our other 3 VRBO rentals during our Italy/Malta trip! The condo balcony is a nice size with a table and chairs for 2 overlooking the inside courtyards of the 4 building complexes! No views of the nearby seashore! An outside closet contains the washer which is new and very fast washing clothes on "rapido" setting.....15min! A drying rack is provided to set out clothes in the sun to dry out.......never saw any clothes dryers during any of our stays in Italy! Nearby the complex around the corner are some simple eateries and galleterias with some ristorantes across the highway along the seashore!.......there's a "house manual" that Sylvia has composed that lists out places to eat, stores to visit, and sights to see nearby and in Catania which was very helpful during our stay! To visit the "old city center" of Catania, we used the taxi system which cost 16euro one-way for us 2 couples......Calling "Radio Taxi" for our pickup at the condo! This is a very nice property and very secure and safe! Our only issue during the stay which detracted from an excellent rating was on our last night/day the power was going off & on for the entrire area which set off alarms all over which was quite annoying thru the night and into the next day! Otherwise, Sylvia has a very nice place to stay during your travels to Sicily!

Amazing

This was my first time not staying at a hotel and to tell the truth I was a little nervous, But when we arrived in Catania and met Sylvia my anxiety level dropped to almost zero. Silvia is a kind, very together young lady who's professionalism was evident from our first meeting. There was never a question unanswered or need unmet, always a phone call away, but that was just the half of it. When we entered the property I was surprisingly thrilled with how clean, modern and spacious the apartment was. Truly a home away from home, with all the conveniences you would never get at even the best hotel. If you ever visit Catania, Sicily, I would highly recommend this property. Thank you Silvia, for making this a trip of a lifetime. Anthony Natale
