Hi Frank Thanks for your review - I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate your detailed comments. I've been away much of the summer and have only now have translated it. I am taking the trouble to reply to your review despite this lapse in time, only because I don't want prospective guests to be under the mistaken impression that my beds are soft. I really am sorry if you found them too soft but I'm sure you will agree this is a question of taste, and it is all relative. I do however want to stress that (as someone who favours a firm mattress myself) I invariably find all three of my beds to be much much firmer than most beds that I sleep in on my travels and in other people's houses. So while I don't dispute that you may be used to something even firmer (after all these things are distinctly relative - how firm is firm?), I really don't want your review to encourage bookings from guests who are looking for a soft mattress, nor do I want to discourage bookings from people who normally expect a firm mattress. Relative to general standards, my mattresses are definitely firm, rather than soft. Indeed, I've had other guests (on other sites) comment on how wonderfully firm my beds are. Please understand I'm not meaning to argue with you about this - I just want prospective guests reading this review to know to expect beds that are firm, with a slight give (owing to a padded mattress cover). And you are quite right about the chinese takeaway near the tube - it is dreadful. There are far better Chinese take-aways (eg Hot Wok) down Caledonian road towards King's Cross (menus are in my kitchen drawer, with recommendations written on each menu) - but the place next to the tube is to be avoided. I do write a clear warning about that in my "House Manual", but the restaurant's location means that the decision to try it out is often impulsive, but giving into that temptation is consistently regretted. I regret that you too fell for such false promise before you could see my warning.... I hope this won't put you off coming back to London - you are of course welcome to come back to my flat should you ever do so. Best wishes Oliver

Two years have past since Thomas wrote this kind review (Thanks Thomas!) but we have recently installed a new hob for cooking (as well as a new washing machine), and as it is both brand new AND a "ceramic" hob, it heats up far faster than the slow-coach of an electric plate that was previously in place.
