"The Hideaway at Lydia's Canyon" is a fine property, and it is evident that the owners are putting effort into making it a desirable destination! The property has undergone major updates, and there was evidence of the owners' continuing interest in improvements - some attractive and helpful signage directing travelers to the property went up while we were out hiking one day. The location is extremely peaceful and quiet... truly a "hideaway." Directions given to find the home were very good, and motion sensor lighting in the parking area is helpful when pulling up at night. Although a feature I was most excited about was the outdoor tub, I unfortunately never used it, as we were so busy visiting parks and hiking, we arrived back rather late and fatigued. The shower in the bathroom is very small, which didn't bother me, but did my husband. Hot water was not a problem as there is an on-demand tankless hot water heater. Towels were good. Plumbing worked fine. Great washer/dryer facilities with big hampers and laundry products available. King sized platform bed was just a touch squeaky at the foot end, but was comfortable with very nice soft sheets. The master bedroom was deliciously dark owing to the wonderful heavy drapes on windows. In the morning, those drapes could be pulled back to let in light from 3 sides of the room, and a serene view of trees and hillsides, not to mention the hummingbird feeders (often busy!) on the front deck. The deck had ample comfortable and attractive furniture, and the master bedroom has sliding glass doors to access the deck. We did not use the loft sleeping area, but it looked very nice. The steps leading up to the loft were an attractive feature, however people with small children would want to know that they are very steep! The kitchen was well-appointed with appliances, and the Keurig machine with supply of coffee and hot chocolates was much appreciated in the morning, as the nearest coffee shop or gas station would be quite a drive! There was not as much of a supply of condiments/staples in the kitchen as I've seen in other VRBO rentals, but this is a minor detail, and I believe the owners are currently focused on more significant comforts. Internet access was reliable, which was good as there is no cellular service in the area. Didn't use: television, gas grill, wood stove. Heating/cooling unit was a bit confusing to control but seemed to work. Quiet, comfortable retreat. We enjoyed it!
