Gelegen am klarsten See von Minnesota, 4-5 geräumige Schlafzimmer, 3 Badezimmer, Kamin, Sauna, Feuerstelle im Freien. an einem wunderschönen See, mit schönen Wäldern und Wanderwegen direkt vor der Tür. Wir glauben, dass die Menschen einen Ort brauchen, an dem sie alles hinter sich lassen können, um Zeit mit denen zu verbringen, die sie lieben. Dies ist ein Ort, an dem Sie eine Tradition machen können. Das Hotel liegt im Chippewa National Forest, dem ersten See nördlich der Kontinentalscheide.
Wenn Sie Ihre Gruppe erweitern möchten, haben wir ein paar benachbarte Lodges und einen neu gebauten Hochzeitspavillon mit Blick auf den See. Winter Wonderland

Gorgeous property on a beautiful lake. It came complete with a brand new snowfall that painted the trees for us and made for great sledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing and sitting around the fire. Next time we might try to find some snowmobiles since there are some great trails nearby.

Explore, Play & Relax at the Edge of the Wilderness

What a special place that Peg & Tim have created for all to enjoy. The drive up on scenic 38 sets the stage for the surroundings you’ll enjoy while staying at Buckhorn on Caribou Lake. A short drive on well maintained gravel roads winding through the beautiful Chippewa National Forest and you find yourself arriving at the shore of Caribou Lake. We stayed in cabin 7, a beautiful log cabin with plenty of room for adults to relax, kids to play, and the whole group to come together and eat. The bedrooms are all spacious enough for luggage, the bathrooms all have showers and/or tubs, there is a sauna big enough for a large group, and a downstairs area with plenty of room for ping pong and a seating area to relax and play board games. The kitchen has lots of room and worked great for every meal. The kids loved sitting at the kitchen island and the adults enjoyed the unique dining table with a huge tree stump for a pedestal base. Outside, we loved spending time on the huge deck overlooking the lake, and enjoying the spacious backyard with fire pit and plenty of room for yard games. The walk down to the lake gives you glimpses of the water through the trees, then you reach a large wooden platform and take in the whole view of pristine Caribou Lake. The lake is wrapped in dense forest, treating you with nature’s finest views. Our kids loved the little island just off shore, they dubbed “kid island”! They used the provided paddle boat to reach it and they truly felt they were charting undiscovered territory! The rest of us enjoyed canoeing and kayaking (also provided), and we brought a fishing boat, managing decent success with smallmouth bass, but not getting those elusive Lake Trout! We took nature walks and hikes right down the driveway from the cabin, as well as going to nearby Suomi Hills. Peg is a gracious host and answered any and all questions we had. The beauty of the cabin inside and out can be credited to Tim and Peg for building and decorating/furnishing it. If you want a true north woods experience in a beautiful cabin, on a pristine lake, in some of the best forest area nature can offer, then Buckhorn on Caribou is where you should go.

Cabin 7 feedback

NO TV! It says DVD player but does not say TV. We rent a lot of these, and we have an assumption that there will be a TV, right, wrong or indifferent. You should put one in, or say No TV. The charcoal grill works and works well, but a nice gas grill would be better for the vacationer, less hassle. Kitchen; overall, the kitchen equipment is getting thin and some pretty wore out. You should have a trash container outside some where, we had no place to go with the trash. The manual for the cabin needs to have more info about the property, like what to do with your trash for example. That's about it, very nice place and we enjoyed it very much; just some minor improvements would be good. Thanks! Troy Gorans

Troy, If you would have contacted me so I could have directed you to the items you mentioned. I was sure I had no tv’s down for the cabin, and there is a tv and vcr there. It must have been put away by one of the past guests. The reason we don’t have TV’s is that was the criteria for the vacations we took with our family. Many of our guests have been coming for over a decade and they come to get away from the tv. There is Wifi so if you need screen time you cabin get it. There are three large trash and recycling containers just two steps from the front door. They are hidden from view a bit by the log ends but not sure how you missed them. The cabin has been full since Memorial weekend with the exception if a few days this fall so I’ll go through the kitchen equipment and update and get rid of some of the items that may have been there too long. I let people know they have to bring charcoal if they want to grill. I had propane grills for a while but had trouble with. People not turning the flame off, or running out of propane when I was out of the area, so we have decided to go this way instead. Wish you would have checked in with me during your stay so you could have directed you. I do have one gas grill that can be used by the pavilion. Hope you had a good time riding.

This is a fantastic place in an amazing location

Everything about this place is great. If you appreciate nature, organic architecture, peacefulness, and gathering with friends and family, or a quiet time with your lover or just alone, you’ll find it here. The owners let you feel like it’s your own private retreat. There are not a lot of reviews on here because most people don’t want anyone to know about it. It’s that special.

Review

Our overall experience was good; the property was clean and spacious and the yard was well kept. However the property is showing its age. There are some screen doors that need repair, the refrigerator didn't operate as it should and light bulbs were burned out - mostly the outside ones. We were short of towels, but found them in the drier. Pots and pans need to be cleaned (some were greasy) or replaced.

Wayne, I’m so sorry about the problems you encountered. Had you brought them to may attention when you were here they could have been taken care of. The refrigerator fan had been bent but I was able to fix it when I found your message. We have replaced the screen door. And as for the towels, I thought my helper had gotten them put away. We try to make sure all the dishes and pots and pans are clean and not sure how we missed these. I can assure that all lightbllbs have been replaced, dishes and towels cleaned after every use, and screens repaired.

Pure heaven!

11 members of my family stayed at this cabin the week after Christmas. It was extremely cold, -35 one morning! The cabin was clean and accommodated all of use nicely. There were so many bedrooms and sleeping arrangements, we all had a peaceful space to get some rest. There are also two separate living room spaces so different activities can go on all day long. I loved having two separate tables on the main floor, one for coloring and legos for our younger ones and the other for cards and dice with the older ones. Peg had a sweet Christmas tree all decorated and lights on the outside. The giant fire place kept us cozy and warmed us up after we ventured down the trails on our snowshoes. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to feed a big crew. Being true Minnesotans, we took advantage of the Webber and grilled steaks over charcoal...yep, it was -21 at that point. We loved being right on the lake! We set up our ice fishing stuff right in front of the cabin and bought bait in Marcell, just a few minutes away. The guy at the store had great tips for other fishing spots too! I hope we can return in the summer to take advantage of the screened in porch, deck, outdoor fire pit and groomed hiking trails!

Perfect!

What a beautiful home. Amazing construction and unique burl logs. Hand-crafted dining room table, chairs and bar stools. Clean, comfortable & well-stocked. Fireplace provided a cozy atmosphere. Loved being in such a secluded and peaceful setting while still having quality wifi connection. This scenic setting on Caribou Lake was better than we imagined. We were so happy to see two Bald Eagles soaring above the trees one morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our girls' weekend and appreciated that Peggy made sure we were safe and comfortable.

A wonderful cabin will be back!

The cabin and area are right out of a storybook. Cabins have saunas are private. Plenty of firewood available and they are clean and well kept. The three days we spent were extremely relaxing and a great getaway from the rush of city life. Wish I could have stayed for a whole week. Definitely will come back!

This is our second trip within 6 months! The first time we made it there we booked it right away for the Presidents' Day! It is an incredible place, very special. We go there as a large group with tons of kids and adults and everybody always have tons of fun! It is nice to work with the owner - Peggy makes it as if you are staying at her house vs. resort. She is very nice, houses are always clean, rates are very affordable and of course - THE VIEW! lakes... rolling hills, SILENCE! I have not heard silence before in my life - it was a bit scary at first. and at night - milky way, TONS of stars! I remember my thoughts in the evening on the deck "it looks like an incredible painting"! I highly recommend. Because of this place - our group of close friends created an annual tradition!
