What a little gem of a place! The pictures don't really do the view justice. Built in the 1940's this place is just oozing with charm! Little details make this place feel like you are being transported back in time, while the updated appliances, flat-screens, and wi-fi bring you back to today. We stayed for 5 nights and hated to leave! Both bathrooms have been updated with large showers complete with rainwater shower heads. Flatscreens with cable are everywhere they are needed. The beds were so comfortable it was hard to crawl out of them each morning however the view and the sounds of the bay make that issue short-lived.
Although it is walking distance to the Embarcadero, with our group we opted to drive down. (Some bad knees in our group) Lots of great food is nearby as well, as plenty of shops if that's your thing.
Overall, we really enjoyed the peacefullness of Sole Mate. Once we settled in, it was hard to motivate leaving. We found ourselves wanting to cook instead of eating out. Speaking of which, we really enjoyed the gourmet kitchen. All new appliances include two ovens, dishwasher, double door fridge and 4 burner gas cooktop. Filtered water was also a plus so we didn't have to rely on bottled water for the whole trip.
Usually I leave a place with a laundry list of suggestions, this time only a couple of minor suggestions for the owners. They've done a great job with this place and we look forward to coming back for years to come!
