Hoch auf den Mendip Hills liegt ein Steinhaus auf einer bewirtschafteten Farm mit atemberaubendem Blick über die Somerset Levels. Das Haus wurde um 1850 erbaut und war früher vom örtlichen Hirten bewohnt, der seine Schafe auf diesem Gebiet der Mendip Hills weidete. Heute wird das Land von den traditionellen Rassen der Longhorn-Rinder und der Wiltshire-Horn-Schafe beweidet, die sich gut für die Bewirtschaftung der natürlichen Wiesen auf der Farm eignen. Die Cheddar-Schlucht, ein Ort von besonderem wissenschaftlichen Interesse, liegt nördlich der Farm, und der Wald von Mascalls, ein uraltes Waldgebiet, liegt westlich. Das Cheddar-Dorf und die örtlichen Geschäfte liegen etwa 1,6 km vom Cottage entfernt. Ideal für Wanderer und in der Nähe des Mendip Way.

My son and I had a super stay in the cottage during a two-day visit to the Avalon marches for birding. We were warmly welcomed by Judy and Paul and their friendly dogs and, despite the blustery, wet weather when we arrived, were very warm and cosy inside. The kitchen is well equiped and the shower lovely and hot. Woodburner lovely to come back to after a day out. Magnificant views over cheddar. Would love to stay again.

Cosy, compact property overlooking Cheddar and the Somerset Levels. We found the property to be ideal for our short stay with excellent walking direct from the cottage. Paul and Judy were very helpful and made us welcome, helping with any info required. The farm dogs (Meg & Tess) were friendly and interacted well with our dog (Ralph). My advice would be to ensure you thoroughly read the directions to find the property, and your vehicle needs a degree of power to navigate the route to the cottage. However once reached the views are stunning from this small, quirky but comfortable property

Last minute booking, the hosts were great and very responsive to our request to bring 2 dogs. Perfect little cottage for dogs, had all the amenities you need and very well located. The area is very dog friendly and we would not hesitate to return.

Outstanding view

A great little place for a short stay. Has everything you need. About a mile and a half from Cheddar Village. Great walks, though the walk back is very steep. Fantastic hosts and two gorgeous dogs. Really enjoyed our stay.

Judy & Paul farm Traditional breeds of cattle and sheep on the Mendip Hills, an dedicated Area of Outstanding Beauty. We are a County Wildlife Site so protect the flora and fauna with our livestock management practices. Specifically we protect the natural habitat for Greater Horseshoe Bats, Barn Owls and Doormice. We grow our own vegetables, produce our own jams, chutneys, eggs and honey from our own bee hives. We also source organic wine from France.

Judy and Paul bought Bradley Cross Farm for it's position close to Cheddar and the idyllic views over the Somerset Levels. It was a place to further pursue our interests in Rare Breed cattle and sheep.

The property is secluded but at the same time within easy reach of the village of Cheddar
