Perfekt für ein oder zwei Familien, die zusammen Urlaub machen möchten, aber dennoch etwas Privatsphäre haben möchten. Das Haus ist besonders geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Das Dorf ist bekannt für seine 2 preisgekrönten Pubs, die nur einen kurzen Spaziergang entfernt sind. Die Gegend ist voller Dinge, die man unternehmen kann: großartige Spaziergänge in den Berwyn Mountains - direkt vor der Haustür oder in Snowdonia dahinter; Ponyreiten und Reiten gleich die Straße runter. We were staying at the house for 11 days, it was clean, nice and big, it has everything you might need, the owner is very helpfull and makes sure that you have everything you need. we really enjoyed it, and will recomend it to everyone.

Lovely property in a fabulous location

Wonderful large property in a beautiful location in the Ceiriog valley. Suited our group wel, with a mix of couples, singles and a couple of kids. The view from the garden is amazing and a lovely spot to while away some time. There is, however, a lack of storage space for none perishable foods that caused us a few issues as we self cater for 10 people (just a few plastic drawers and a couple of shelves in the utility room). We also had to wash some of the cutlery as it wasn't clean. However, overall it is a great place and we would go back again.

We are delighted to hear Lynne and guests enjoyed their stay. They certainly were most complimentary about the facilities when we called to check they had found everything they needed, so we were rather puzzled to read some of their comments. There is actually plenty of storage space – 2 cupboards in the kitchen, a stack of four capacious drawers and a set of shelves in the scullery/utility room, and extra shelves in the boot room. We were very sorry they found some items that had come out of the dishwasher not as clean as they should be; we do provide a huge amount of cutlery, so guests never need to run short. Had Lynne mentioned this we would happily have advised her to leave any items to one side for the housekeeping team to wash. They are clearly a very nice family we should be pleased to welcome back.

Peaceful rural holiday

The house was very welcoming, comfortable and spacious for 10 of us. Loads of room for everyone to get together but also to get away from each other. The garden was delightful - we enjoyed the evening sunshine and bbqs whilst the kids played - and the views are beautiful. The house is very well equipped and set up for family life. It has a homely feel, although is a little tired in places. The location is pretty rural and some of the roads make for a challenging drive if you’re not used to that but it is peaceful and there are some lovely walks. The Hand pub was excellent. Patrick was extremely helpful and proactive, with plenty of information about the house and surrounding area. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the house. Thank you!

Wonderful holiday at St Garmons

We have had a brilliant family holiday in your beautiful home. There were 11 of us (7 adults and 4 children) covering 3 generations. Everything was just perfect and all the kids loved playing games especially hide and seek! We enjoyed visiting the local area with lots of walks and drives - Lake Vyrnwy and Chirk were particular highlights and well worth a visit. It is not until you experience the peace, quiet and tranquility of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog you realise how busy, hectic and noisy the real world is. Hopefully we will be back one day to enjoy beautiful Wales.

Perfect property for a family get together

Beautiful and we'll provisioned house in a lovely part of Wales. Lots to do for all ages in the local vicinity - barge ride, visiting the aquaduct, walking, seeing Bala and the lake. For small children Bewilderwood isn't too far away and makes a great day trip. Great communication from the host. Would recommend this property.

Wonderful house in a wonderful location

We took this property as a common house my sisters, our children and I could meet up over the summer holidays for a week. But it became much more than that - we had a wonderful time created some great memories and all based around a place that felt like home away home but even better. Patrick was so helpful even when I didn’t follow the detailed help notes he gave to me. The wonderful staff at the near by hotel/pub/restaurant - The Hand. The house has a lovely garden and patio area set in the midst of beautiful scenery. I could go on…… but in simple terms a wonderful stay and I can highly recommend.

This property is all it says it is. Very large and very comfortable. It is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a family holiday in an excellent location in the picturesque hills and valleys of north Wales . Would definitely recommend for large family groups.

It is quite simply a wonderful house. Large and spacious with stunning views across the valley. Kitchen very well stocked, great games cupboard, two excellent pubs one minute walk away. Family holiday

First please let me say a massive thank you to Patrick and Carole for the privilege of enjoying your wonderful homely home, such a fantastic property with plenty of space to cater for our family of 12 ageing from 9 months old to 64 years set in a breath taking location , in amongst the natural beauty of Welsh mountains, great walks from the doorstep and a welcoming hospitality from the Hand the local pub across the road. Great places to visit within a short drive there are awesome waterfalls , steam railways , lakes , swimming pools, castles, aqua and viaducts to admire and wonder how ! Fab family break

We were a large family group between the ages of 6 weeks to 75 years old. The house has plenty of space to escape if needed and to have family meals. The rooms are lovely and spacious with most of the bedrooms having their own en-suites. The house was very comfortable and clean. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would need. We loved the garden and the smaller party members had a lovely time running around. The house is set in a small hamlet with two pubs within metres of the property. We had a drink in both and a lovely meal in the West Arms. We had lots of lovely day outs and the drive around this area is truly spectacularly. The high light for us was using the big table to catchup after a busy day and drink a glass or two of wine. The owner was lovely and friendly and made sure we had everything we need. We had lovely week, and felt very privileged to stay in such a beautiful house. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A peaceful retreat!

St Garmons is a deceptively large house which catered for our party of 3 generations. The garden was great for the youngsters to play games in, and the views were gorgeous. Made even better by the regular sightings of red kites. The large windows and high ceilings gave the house a great sense of space, and the photos of the property don't do this justice! The whole house was well equipped and comfortable. There were many places to visit, despite the village being quite isolated. We enjoyed Chitk Castle, the Shropshire Sculpture Park, Oswestry Hill Fort and the aqueducts at Chitk and Trevor. It was always lovely to return to the tranquility of St Garmons! Mr Meier was quick to respond to any queries and we appreciated this. Hopefully we will return again as it was a gorgeous place to go on holiday!

Welsh Idyll

Summed up by one eight year old five minutes after we arrived. ‘I’m loving it already.’ Location is superb. Breathtaking views from the patio. Two great pubs on the doorstep: lots of things to do in locality; fishing at Cirk, viaducts, National Trust at Cirk Castle a must for anyone from 5 to 75! Six separate bathrooms- four en-suite and a superb utility room. Facilities excellent and generous provision of many everyday necessities: don’t pack any cleaning materials etc. All agreed one of the best family holidays we’ve had at a very reasonable price.

Civilised tranquility

Sufficiently off-the-beaten-track to feel secluded from the fray of modern life, yet wonderfully cosseting with light, airy living spaces and comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms. The little ones loved seeing sheep through the fence at the end of the garden and a multitude of interesting birds (from sparrows to red kites) in the skies overhead, while the older ones appreciated the fast wifi and having space to relax. There are two first rate hostelries in the village—the West has a fine garden looking down the Ceiriog valley that is glorious on sunny afternoons, while the restaurant at the Hand serves truly excellent food; both less than 3 minutes' walk away. The property nestles beside the ancient St Garmon's church, whose churchyard contains some 1,000 year old Yew trees and from where you can head to the hills for some spectacular walks. Patrick, the owner, could not have been more charming and obliging. Everything was as promised and we (a family party of seven adults and two babies) had a marvellous week. Thank you.

A good holiday venue for an extended family

Excellent renovation of an old rectory. Amazingly spacious, with room for 11 (3 generations) to be together or do things separately without disturbance. Very well equipped. Far from shops, but grocery delivery was the option we used. The best holiday accommodation we have used for our extended family.

5* This is a GEM of a house.

The pictures do not do this beautiful house justice. It is extremely large inside, well equipped and has a real home from home feel. I book a house away every year for our family (4 generations) and this one did not disappoint. It has plenty of rooms if you want quiet time and great family rooms when you all want to get together. We loved all gathering for dinner in the dinning room with a great view out of the patio doors. Over size utility room and boot room which was very useful. The bedrooms are large with comfortable beds, nice bedding, towels and lots of wardrobe space, again fantastic view out of most of the windows. My mum (86years old) enjoyed sitting with a morning coffee just looking out the bedroom window. While the grounds are not so large the children (two 13 yr and two 10 yr olds) never got bored, running around with ball games, chase and hide and seek. The two pubs outside serve good food and my brother says the ale/beer is excellent There are plenty of activities out side of this lovely little village, driving there is not for the faint hearted though. The roads are narrow and if using a sat-nave it finds the most direct route (over the mountain tops). On saying that we did get used to the road to Llangollen (about 40min away) The children did paddle boarding there on the cannel, (£45 each for 3 hours) a bit expensive but they had a fantastic time. There are some lovely little shops, one shop had pottery painting which the children enjoyed. Barmouth is about 1hr 50min but again lovely day out, beautiful clean beach, small fair and plenty of shops. Oh yes fish and chips as well. Oswestry was about 40mins away but they have a great swimming pool and lovely shops. If you like water falls the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall is stunning. The rest of the time we just chilled out in this beautiful house, the weather was wonderful and the views even better, what more could you want.

A fabulous holiday in a wonderful house

We planned a special family holiday to celebrate my sister’s 50th birthday. It was the first time all ten of us - 3 generations of the family - would be taking a trip together with age ranges from 6 to 76! St Garmon’s was absolutely perfect and we had a truly wonderful week away creating some very special memories. We were absolutely spoilt with the facilities at the house - 6 lovely bathrooms (most en suite) and extremely comfortable beds. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of fridge freezer space (there are three!). There is a lovely large dining table just opposite the kitchen and it was great to be able to all gather around to eat together and look out on to the hills in the distance. We enjoyed spotting rabbits, grouse, kites and the occasional pheasant in the field behind the house. Llanarmon is a wonderfully quaint place we frequented an excellent pub (The Hand) across the road which has a pool table and darts with a great selection of beers and food available. We went for local walks from the house and on a number of day trips including the waterfall at Pystyll Rhaeadr, walks through the Ceirog Valley - we also visited Llangollen and Lake Bala and enjoyed playing croquet and badminton in the garden at the house. We also watched movies in the evening as there is an excellent DVD collection available. The children did not want to leave (nor did I!) and we have already discussed the possibility of going back - it really is a wonderful place! Perfect house for a family holiday

A lovely house that was perfect for a family holiday. The house was well furnished with everything we needed. The rooms were comfortable and the garden was perfect for enjoying the summer weather. The house is set in a lovely village with two great pubs that were both very welcoming. The owners were great, even calling after we arrived to check everything was okay. All in all a perfect base for a holiday with three generations of the family.

Excellent property. Nicely furnished and maintained. Good area to stay in that it is out of the way (not near to any towns and in nice countryside) but still a short walk from a couple of good pubs that do food. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect house for our 3 generation family holiday

St. Garmons was the perfect house for our anniversary celebration holiday with our children and grandchildren. It has all the equipment you could wish for and bags of space for everyone. The location is delightfully peaceful with lots to do in the area. It was amazing watching the Red Kites in the field next to the garden. The 3 year old grandchildren loved the trains at Llangollen and a day trip in a barge on the canal at Trevor, we all held our breath as we went over the aqueduct. An idyllic retreat and a beautiful home

I searched high and low for a large house that could accommodate four families for a wedding anniversary. Bathrooms were a must, as was somewhere we could all eat together, space the kids could run around, space to relax and wind down, near different activities, clean - you get the general idea! In all honesty I am slightly loathe to write a review in case this gem gets booked up solidly for the next ten years, but I think it's only fair considering what a superb job the owners have done with it. Attention to detail is fantastic, every room has been beautifully decorated and equipped. Think luxury 5* hotel, rain showers, quality fittings etc. The layout is ideal for families as we had two in each side of the second floor and two on the top floor. Bathrooms for all and we didn't hear a thing at night despite there being 5 very young children in the house. The house was very clean and double dishwashers and washing machines were very useful. In terms of the area - wow. Stunning all round and lots to see and do in the vicinity. We went on excursions to Chirk castle, the acqeduct, white water rafting, horse drawn narrowboats and park hall farm. Both pubs in the village are also lovely and very accommodating. I feel very fortunate to have found St Garmon and had the opportunity to bring four families (of old school friends) together under one roof with 6 children, five under the age of 5. It could have been a recipe for disaster, but the size amd space in the house, coupled with the fantastic facilities and location made it one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had. It is a home where many memories are made. Well done Caroline and Patrick!

Quite the house!

A beautiful house that has loads of space.... the word 'tardis' comes to mind. Plenty of space for large families or groups of friends, and with all the day-to-day facilities you would need. In fact it was better equipped than our own house. We stayed with our little 18 month old and the house worked well for her. The child's room and supplied cot were great and she loved all the space to run around. We would definitely recommend the house and the two local pubs (literally over the road) were fantastic.

It was great to hear that Tom and his family had such a wonderful time in the house and liked the space it offers. It was also especially nice to read that they appreciated how well-equipped it is, as we put a lot of thought and effort into making the house really comfortable and relaxing, with all its bathrooms and spacious sitting rooms. Glad they found the two pubs down the road as enchanting as we do - they certainly deserve their excellent reputation. It was just really lovely to welcome such very nice and thoughtful guests.

We have been coming to stay in the village since the children were little and have always been enchanted by its beauty, serenity and glorious views. When we saw that the house was for sale, we knew we had to try and buy it.

We love the fantastic peace and quiet, and yet it is only a short walk down the road to the pub for a great pint and a brilliant meal. During the renovations, we have enjoyed huge support from everyone and have been truly appreciative of the warm welcome extended to us in this really friendly village. The valley is steeped in history and is also home to many talented artists, some of whom generously offer a fascinating insight into their work on “open studio” days.

As we think having plenty of space is a bonus on a family holiday, the size of the rooms is especially attractive - we can all be together or simply do our own thing – the 2 sitting rooms with large TVs mean there is harmony at peak viewing times. Our aim was to make the house really warm and comfortable, so we installed very efficient central heating plus wood burning stoves for extra cosiness. We love how light and airy the house is, so there is a real sense of connection with the countryside when we look out of the windows and see the hills and watch the lambs and sheep in the fields. The luxury we decided to allow ourselves when planning the works, was the number of spacious bathrooms: most are en-suite, several having walk-in power rain showers, which have proved a great success.
