Brienno is a tiny historic village built into the mountainside, so there is definitely some climbing involved, and we always want guests to know that before they arrive. The village itself is indeed very small, which is a big part of its charm and tranquility. For guests who want to explore the lake extensively, a car can certainly be convenient, although it isn’t essential, as Brienno is also connected by bus and ferry to many of the larger towns around the lake. Dining options in the village are limited, so exploring neighboring towns for meals can also be part of the fun! Thank you again for choosing Chalet Lilia for your Lake Como stay. Brienno is a tiny, centuries-old village built into the mountainside, so access can require a bit more effort than in some of the larger towns on the lake. Yes, we do put a lot of love into this place, which my mom and I are so fond of. I always make a point of letting people know about the stairs in advance, they are no joke as you say, but most people with no mobility issues forget all about them once they get up there and see the view. It's the price to pay for such beauty. Glad it didn't deter you! You were a most kind and understanding guest, and we really appreciated the cool photo you sent us of a fire salamander you discovered while exploring the Lake area.
