MOUNTAIN JOY COTTAGES #7 - FOX

Mountain Joy Cottage #7, Fox Cottage is named for the infamously sly fox that frequent our area wilderness in the nearby Great Smokey Mountain National Forest as well as Pisgah National Forest. Enjoy the vibrant orange and gold hues as well as the beautiful artistry in this unique and adorable cottage.

Originally the homestead of Maggie Setzer, for whom Maggie Valley was named, the land that Mountain Joy sits is a special place. You will become enchanted with it’s mountain charm, family atmosphere and character. We offer all the modern conveniences you would expect with the year-round access and seclusion that very few can offer.

Enjoy the peaceful country setting of our cottages. We have one, two and four bedroom cottages all equipped with wood burning fireplaces, cable TV, internet and kitchens ready to cook a home made meal. Outside the porches have rocking chairs so you can enjoy your morning coffee or enjoy the sunset on the mountains in the evening. Our glass enclosed outdoor pool (seasonal) offers a delightful place to relax.

Mountain Joy Cottages are centrally located in the heart of Maggie Valley just one block up Setzer Cove Road with easy access to all of the area attractions. We are just minutes off of the Scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The area is loaded with craft, antique and gift shops. The great outdoors offers horseback riding, golf on area mountain courses, trout fishing in streams, white water rafting and scenic drives. Snow skiing and tubing is available for the entire family at Cataloochee Ski Area. Nightlife includes everything from Jazz to Bluegrass, clogging or dinner entertainment. Our cottages are just a short drive to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway, Asheville and The Biltmore Estate, Cherokee and the Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino and historic downtown Waynesville.

Whatever the season, Mountain Joy Cottages and the Great Smokies have something very special to offer. From the wildflowers of spring, to the blaze of colors in the fall or the serenity of winter, come visit and make lasting memories at Mountain Joy Cottages.

Cabin 6 needs work, Cabin 7 is good

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Stayed in Cabin 6 first night, but due to several issues, we had to move next door to cabin 7. Staff was helpful and responsive. Main thing was having to move everything after we settled in.

Great location and very clean and pretty. Woke up to an elk eating apples from a tree next to my porch. He smiled and left when finished. Will do it again.

Great area and view

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was wonderful seeing the elk visit every morning and evening passing thru the middle of the cottage grounds. Even had a big one bugling running behind them mommas. Came in to bike ride and the grounds made it a little hard to park bikes but we managed for the week. The grounds are rite in the middle of town so everything was rite there surrounding you for your needs. Weather was a bit chilly at the beginning of the week but soon warmed to our southern likings, good thing we brought the leathers. Cabins were very comfortable and had all amenities needed for a nice stay. Plenty places to eat but was still nice to light up the grill which was also on site. Was a great stay and will probably be back again in May.
