Peaceful getaway

Peaceful getaway in the country but close to everything. Cathy is a lovely host. The Little House is perfectly decorated with all the amenities needed; nothing was forgotten.

Wonderful house!

We recently stayed at the Little House for a week, and it was amazing. Cathy was so nice and you can tell how much she cares by all of the detail put into the home (from reading glasses, to the coffee supplies and wine - yum!). The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and it truly felt like a second home. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone travelling in the area. Thank you so much Cathy!

Wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable, and quiet, and Cathy was great.

My wife and I stayed at the Little House for a couple of nights during a hiking/camping trip in Cape Breton. We wanted laundry and a comfortable bed as a break from camping, and good access to sites such as the fortress at Louisbourg. The Little House turned out to be perfect for us. Cathy was wonderful to work with prior to our arrival and after we were there. The location was close to grocery stores and downtown Sydney, and an easy drive to Louisbourg. Best of all the house, which has been recently renovated, was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and functional.

A beautiful, cozy little house in the trees

Cathy is an amazing host and the house is delightful. Cathy's 'Welcome Sandi' on the table when I arrived was the first of many discoveries of little things that Cathy has done to make me glad I had chosen her little house when I was in the Sydney area. I was preparing my meals and spent a lot of time at the house working on a research project. When I needed something, it was never necessary to call Cathy because she had already thought of the possibility that I would and there it was in a drawer or cupboard. I particularly enjoyed her colourful and light hearted decor that provided a laugh as well as thoughts to ponder. Which brings me to the book shelf and Clive Doucet's great book that I started and will buy so I can finish. Cathy has provided so much information about the area that you can drive by the tourist centre when you come on the Island if you are in a hurry to get to the Little House on the Meadows. I can highly recommend that you let Cathy be your hostess!!

Charming quiet little house on acreage.

This charming little house is in the country with views of hay fields and flowers but still close to all the things we wanted to see and do in Cape Breton. Close and an easy drive to Sydney harbour. There is free parking in a waterfront parking lot by the big violin. We enjoyed a dinner at Governors overlooking the harbour. Is a 30 minute drive to Louisbourg and 40 minutes to Baddeck. We did the Cabot trail as a day trip from there as well. The house is extremely clean and nicely decorated. Comfy bed. Quiet at night but there is a gravel pit near by and they start loading trucks very early in the morning. Cathy was a great host who cares about her place and her guests. She provided lots of information about the area. Cathy and her family live in the big house next door. The bottle of wine for us upon arrival was a nice touch. I would recommend Cathy’s place to friends and family.

Perfectly Comfortable

We had a lovely stay at the Little House on the Meadows. It is in a great location for exploring Cape Breton Island - we were able to find hikes nearby and travel a little further to see historic sites and more hiking in Cape Breton Island National Park. The Little House was a comfortable place to return each evening with everything we needed for our stay.

This was a great place to stay and a good location to use as a base for our visit.

Clean and well organized property. There were plenty of linens and kitchen equipment for 2 people. We were very comfortable in this little cottage.

Great place to decompress, beautiful home.

Little House on the Meadow, from the moment you pull in the drive way, you feel welcomed. Cathy has done an amazing job with this little home, it is impeccably clean, the light color tones are very inviting and relaxing. The partially wrap around deck give you privacy and we made use of the bbq. Cathy is a very warm welcoming person and has the house pack with anything you thing you might of forgotten including reading glasses! She is a proud Cape Bretoner and it shows with maps, photograph books etc. If you choose "Little House on the Meadows" you will not be disappointed, as you sip on the complemenatry bottle of wine.

Super clean and accommodating

The cottage is at the end of the owner’s driveway which surprised us at first but when we got inside the cottage was really well laid out and incredibly nice. Everything you need including a BBQ. Cathy was an great hostess and gave us insight to the area. Highly recommend this cottage.

Great Cape Breton trip June 19-28, 2018

In planning our trip to Cape Breton, we were looking for something central to allow us to see as much of Cape Breton as possible. The Little house was perfect for this. We like to cook our own food when we travel and everything we needed was available. Having a washer and dryer was great as we also like to travel light. Even on a very cold wet day we were quite comfortable just relaxing. We were very pleased with our accommodation and the opportunity to experience this beautiful part of Canada. Clean, quiet and quaint. Just perfect.

We had a wonderful stay in this Little Cottage in the Meadows. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need. Very clean and comfortable. Cathy was a spectacular hostess and very accommodating. Very quiet and well located to all the amenities for groceries,restaurants, not far from the Cabot Trail. It met our expectations perfectly.

This was our first foray into renting a house. The pictures of the house inside and out were exactly as shown on line. The little house was very clean and the owner was very thorough in meeting all our expectations i.e. all the needs required of a home were provided as well as all the possible comfort one would expect. We would recommend the little house in the meadows to couple wanting a home away from home.

Renting this little house was the best decision. It was clean and very comfortable. We used it as our home base to travel to all corners of Cape Breton. The owner made us feel welcome and was there if we needed anything. We recommend this little house on the meadows to anyone wanting a quiet little getaway.

Everything we needed and more

My daughter and I recently stayed at the little house on the Meadows. We had a lovely stay. Cathy is a wonderful host going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. When we arrived there was a bottle of wine and a sign welcoming us. The house is decorated so nicely and has everything we needed and then some! It was a real bonus to have a washer & dryer. Beautiful and quiet!!!!

A lovely, clean and comfortable little house. We couldn't have been more pleased. Everything that one needs for a pleasant stay was here, even a bottle of wine to greet our arrival. We highly recommend it.

We had a great time relaxing in this property.

My husband and I stayed in Little House On the Meadows in July and were very pleased with the peaceful surroundings and the beauty of the landscape. The house is equipped with everything you will ever need to make your stay comfortable. We had traveled 2000 miles to get to Nova Scotia from Michigan and we found this property to be just the recipe for respite.

Amazing

The little house comes equipped with literally everything you can think of! It is recently renovated which makes it feel very cozy and clean. Cathy is very approachable and accommodating. Overall our stay was enjoyable and peaceful. It felt like home! At first we were hesitant how close the little house is to her house however, it was completely private and we felt like we had our own space. We would definitley stay there again!
