When we arrived, the kids first comment was "this place is really nice." We found that to be the case for our entire stay. We agree with the host, the covered lanai was our favorite room and we enjoyed eating there. We also enjoyed the large kitchen table that allowed us to work on puzzles during our free time.

Nestled in quiet neighborhood

This property was true to the listing and we would stay again in a heartbeat. We chose it for the location, the spaciousness, and the well appointed rooms. Favorite touches of the house - boogie bords, noodles, snorkel, and camping chairs for use, cordless vacuum, auto-icemaking refrigerator with filtered water (we don't have one normally so this was so nice!), and the lanai.While this location required a little bit of extra driving to get in and out, we found it well worth it to decompress from the days' activities. The kids said their favorite activites were going to Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, honey tasting at Punalani Bee Farm, and jumping off the stone tower at Moku Ola.

Few days in paradise

Beautiful home, comfortable and lots of room for our family of 6 adults. You may need hear plugs with all the frogs chirping at night. It is a little out of the way but if you want to relax and don't mind the drive, this is the place for you.

Beautiful home. Clean & spacious! We had plenty of room to spread out! We were hot though. No A/C. Also the pool wasn’t as close as we expected. A 10 minute drive. We didn’t make it there. We anticipated a walk for older kids. No biggie but felt like false advertising listing it on the information. Despite these few things, we did enjoy our stay!! Great location! Beautiful home. Great communication from the owners.

Wonderful house for a family!

We absolutely loved this house. My sister and I traveled with our significant others along with our dad. We had three wonderful bedrooms to ourselves that were clean with windows and fans for cooler air in the evenings! The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and the outdoor kitchen is great for cooking during the heat of the day! The location is a little out of the way of beaches, but the drive is so worth it. The location was great for our day visit to the volcano park as well.

Home away from home!

Our family enjoyed our stay and felt relaxed and at peace. The home was very clean, well stocked and furnished. The whole home was so comfortable and the decor added extra charm. The house was very spacious inside and outside, we enjoyed the beautiful landscaping. The kids enjoyed looking for geckos daily. We loved listening to the birds and sounds of nature. Jenell was very nice and quick to respond to any of our questions. She was helpful in suggestions for our drive over. We were caught in the tropical storm for a few days and the power had even gone out due to the weather just for a few hours. Luckily we had our own flashlights, but I would suggest some rechargeable lights or something available. We felt very safe at this home and neighborhood. Thank you for sharing your home and I would recommend to anyone searching for a great vacation home and experience. Mahalo!

Perfect Home in the right place

The home is beautiful with lots of spread out space. The yard is like a botanical garden. The house is well stocked, clean, and comfortable. The pocation is perfect. I am so glad we decided to stay on the East side of the island. There is access to so many things and this house is perfectly placed. I accidently left stuff at the house and the host was quick to respond and help me to retrieve my things. Book it, you wont regret it!

Kumu Hale

We found Kumu Hale to be well appointed, and extremely clean. The house was tastefully decorated with art with a Hawaiian flair. We especially liked the large sea turtle wall hanging in the master bedroom. It was nice to have comfortable places to hang out both inside and out on the screened lanai. Having the main living space in between the master bedroom and the other two bedrooms provided privacy and allowed for bedroom doors to stay open for airflow at night. The temperature ranged between 64 & 82 so overall the house stayed comfortable without A/C. Lava right out the front door, tall foliage surrounding the yard, and of course the resident Coqui frogs made for an interesting and pleasing contrast to staying in a manicured resort area in Keauhou during the earlier part of our trip. Personally everyone in our group like the nighttime symphony of the frogs and whatever else was adding to the music of the night. Access to the Malama grocery store made buying groceries easy, and Pāhoa Village was charming. We highly recommend the Tin Shack bakery for espresso and pastries. Kumu Hale has easy access to the beautiful Government Road (formerly known as the red road) and from there the stark and bittersweet beauty of the recent lava flow of 2018 that devastated the Puna district. This house was perfect for us.

The location is beautiful, and very convenient. The house was spotless, well furnished and very near a good shopping area with diverse businesses. We had grandkids who live in Keauu come to visit for a bit, they loved running around the grass in the back yard. We are all older people who are not able to do a lot of walking or hiking but found many locations easy for us to visit. I would highly recommend a drive through an area called "Government Road" which is directly down the road from the house. It is totally fascinating and we took the tour twice.

Nice visit

We enjoyed the house. It was very clean and was in a quiet neighborhood (other than the morning roosters, which for us wasn’t a big deal). My family members were uncomfortable, saying the beds were really hard and it was pretty warm in the rooms. There were no ceiling fans in the extra bedrooms. There were floor fans. The lanai was very nice and cool and a couple of evenings someone slept out there as it was much cooler. Nice that they had boogie boards, chairs, umbrella and coolers to use. Plenty of items to cook with, etc. The things we wanted to do were mostly in other parts of the island, so we drove a bit, but we chose to stay away from the touristy area. Overall, we had a nice stay other than being a bit warm.

A great hub!

This was the perfect stay for the second half of our trip! Great location for exploring Hilo, Volcano National Park, and surrounding areas. Jenell was always very responsive and helpful. House was clean and perfect for 3 couples! Really enjoyed the three seasons porch.
