Wonderful spot, wonderful stay!

We loved this little bungalow right on Grand Case beach. The location and setting are truly ideal. The host is kind and gracious, and conveniently right next door. The bedroom is comfortable, the kitchenette sufficient, and the deck overlooking the sea is gorgeous. We would return in a heartbeat.

Perfect

We stayed for a week in this perfect beach cottage. Tibo and his father were super helpful and always available. This was just what we expected ….a very open spot right on the beach. Location was wonderful amid many different types of restaurants. Only downside is that WiFi was a bit spotty. We would definitely stay again.

Just what we was looking for

We just wanted rest and relaxation and that's what we got. Spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the beautiful view, laying out, and swimming in the clear water that was just a few steps from our deck. Had plenty of restaurants and shops on the street that the rental was on. Only complaint would be that 2 towels and wash rags are not enough for a 7 day stay. st

Beautiful view

I think the first thing that I should mention is how Jean Francois and his father thibaut, were absolutely wonderful. They accommodated us before we even got there, offered to pick us up from the airport, thibaut took us to supper market and bakery a few times and brought us croissants, offered to take us places. Took us to the airport. Truly amazing hosts. The cottage was just as described. Perfect 👍 we will definitely be coming back. Thank you both for an amazing stay. The Irvin’s

A bit misleading

Some good things, right on the beach, host picked me up from airport. However, no Hammock, no mosquito net over the bed, lots of cockroaches, no light bulb by my bed, Not very secure cabin, water off for a few hours a day between 2pm and 6, but weren't warned, only thin pillows. I understand the place is rustic, and I don't want or expect luxury. But neglect and false advertising is not ok. Needs a lot of love and some money spent on it.

Simple paradise

Simple paradise: My husband and I stayed at this delightful place for 10 days. It was exactly as I stated, simple paradise. You are steps away from the beach and just a simple walk away from the restaurants. Most importantly the hosts and the family are a delight, along with their dog Nino. The owners friend is an artist and painted us the most beautiful picture of a fishing boat in the water. She used great detail and this will be a treasured souvenir, we will never forget it. We will re-book in a heartbeat! Keep in mind, it is a simple place. It is paradise in our opinion, showering while looking out to the sea. The bedroom is comfortable with air-conditioning. It is simply paradise. Thanks so much to the host and their family. Very sweet people. Say hello to Nino. Give Nino a belly rub from Mike.

Beach environment experience with comfort

This Bungalow was perfect for someone like me who enjoys being outdoors as much as possible. The place is several luxurious steps above camping, noted with respect to its open-air nature blending in with all the beach environment has to offer and challenge. I was delighted that a young green iguana (about 2-feet, 60cm long) sought refuge among the louvers in the window next to the open-air kitchen. Very cool. It blended in very well. Although admit I shut the bedroom door just in case s/he got interested in a more snugly hideout. Great close encounter enjoyed! This place is a one of a kind for those who really want to be attentive to the natural world of a beach environment. Ghost crab at first daylight (on the beach), local people passing by walking dogs on beach early morning, frigatebirds up soaring after warm thermals rise, some mosquitoes to manage in the evening, and exceptional sunset views!!! Host is a wonderful man with much knowledge of locals and aspects of the island. Very kind.

I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. The cottage was just as described. The bedroom was airconditioned, the bed comfortable and we kept the door closed, so we had no problems with any bugs at night. The kitchenette has a small fridge (perfect for beer, milk for tea and coffee and our leftovers!) and almost everything else we needed for our stay. The only thing my husband wished for was a french press for coffee, as there is only a drip coffee machine and he is a self-proclaimed coffee snob. But we were able to walk to the bakery down the road where he got espresso most days to keep him happy.The waterfall showerhead in the bathroom is wonderful. Someone mentioned that they wished more towels had been provided, so we brought our own beach towels that we used when we went to other beaches to give the ones provided extra time to dry.Plenty of restaurants and bars are within walking distance. We were here during the slow season when a lot of places are closed, but there were still many places to choose from. However, nothing on this trip would beat being able to sit on that deck and enjoy the beach all day. The view cannot be matched. We watched the sunrise and the sunset over the water. We would sit until we were too warm and go in the water to cool off. We walked on the beach and swam whenever we wanted.Like the listing says, this is not high-end luxury. But I definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing beach trip over a luxury vacation!

best of both worlds...

My wife and I had a great time! We stayed 7 nights total. Three of those nights were spent in the bungalow which was as advertised. It was very basic. Our favorite moments were spent on the porch. Very comfortable and an incredible view . We also had the opportunity to stay 4 more nights in the newer portion of the property. The accommodations there were much more modern and suited us better. We would have been fine in the bungalow but the newer place was available so Jean Francios graciously arranged for us to move in for the remainder of our vacation. It was right next door to the bungalow. We wanted to be in Grand Case on the beach and that's exactly what we got. The property is located in the heart of the restaurant district and there are tons of food options The property owner, Jean Francios was very helpful and super nice. We rented a car for the week and had private parking which is important in that area because of the lack of parking. We used the car to travel to all of the beaches we wanted to see. There are a lot of beautiful beaches!! I would definitely stay there again, but having experienced both properties, my preference would be the newer units. But either way, you will have a great time!!

Simple Paradise

The booking process through VRBO was simple, straightforward, and upon arrival the property was as-described. Our host, Jean was delightful as was his adorable little dog who would stroll past frequently. We went during the low season which meant some restaurants and recreation companies were closed but the lack of crowds on the beach right outside the bungalow totally made up for that. We had one day of heavy rains and the bedroom stayed watertight, however the rain does leak into the open air bathroom and kitchen a bit. We hadn’t thought to buy power adapters for the French outlets but the host kindly loaned us one. We saw many lizards and even an iguana from our “living room” and enjoyed the company of some random island dogs who came to visit. We rented a car for our stay and we’re able to park it off the street right at the rental property which was so convenient. The sun rises and sunsets here were the most beautiful we’d seen. We would absolutely stay here again!

Amazing beach location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here--beach access is totally amazing, the bungalow is charming. As other reviews have stated, if you are looking for posh luxury, this is not that kind of property, but it had all we needed and was such a unique place to stay. Loved the outdoor living space, walking straight out to the ocean, reading in the hammock, etc. Jean-Francois was a very congenial host. If you are looking for a memorable experience, this is it!

You have found the perfect place.

I kept pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming every morning I stood looking out at my view for my 6 night stay. If you are looking for the true Caribbean beach experience book this right now. The bungalow was everything it said it would be and the pictures and reviews for it were accurate. Jean Francois was a gracious host and went the extra mile of picking me up when I arrived, taking me to a grocery store, arranging a rental car for me for a couple of days of my stay and then taking me to the airport. Jean Francois communicates with WhatsApp so it's easy to reach him when needed too. The beach was steps away from my "living room", aka the covered deck, and the beach is perfect for swimming and walking. All this combined with sunsets and the twinkling lights of Anguilla at night made this a place I barely wanted to leave to go explore further afield. There were more amazing restaurants than I had time to try, a nice spa for a massage, a few fun beach shops, a pharmacy and a small convenience store too, within walking distance. You should be aware too that this is a rustic beach bungalow and is beautiful in its quirkiness. If you are looking for perfect American amenities and cable TV this is not the place for you. The mosquitos are friendly but with the citronella candles supplied and some repellent they were not an issue at all. I was here alone and it was a perfect retreat. I can also not imagine a more romantic retreat for a couple. If you love falling asleep listening to the waves wash up on the beach, and waking up and walking a few steps for a morning swim, book it now!

If you don’t book this one, you will regret it

Absolutely one-of-a-kind. If you don’t book this one, you will kick yourself every time you walk past it on the beach. Don’t expect cable television and American amenities. Expect beachfront, walking from bed to the ocean in 20 steps before breakfast. Expect the sound of the waves, ocean breezes and envy of every person that walks past. This is a simple cabana that has all of the things Caribbean. The location is fantastic - walking distance to restaurants, beach bars, small grocery stores and most importantly a great french bakery, Grand Case also has the best swimming beach on the island. We stayed at five different locations over 2 1/2 months and although all were lovely, this one will be the one we will always remember. JF is a fabulous host. Couldn’t ask for a more generous and interesting person - we rented a cabana and feel like we have left with a lifetime friend.

Great location.

Jean Francois was a great host! Responded very quickly, and was very accommodating to our needs. The place is a cute little bungalow right at the Grand Case beach. You can walk to the best restaurants. The place itself needs some renovation and a few upgrades but location location location !!!!

Perfect location!

Mother-daughter trip and we were absolutely thrilled with the location of the bungalow. Basic amenities but we didn’t need much. Jean-Francois is a fantastic host! AC to use in bedroom was perfect. Beach loungers & umbrella right off the deck. Deck has comfy hammock chairs, small table, and more. One step off the deck and you’re on the beach and a few more steps to the water. Nothing like it on Grand Case beach. Perfect for what we wanted. Restaurants are within easy walking distance and we had great food all week! Bring bug spray- the mosquitoes are friendly but that’s no fault of the bungalow! Exactly as described and pictured. Can’t wait to come back!!

Amazing!!

My wife and I booked a last-minute trip to the island and have been several times in the past. The one thing we knew what we wanted to be on the beach. When we found it we wondered if the pictures could be real. No question: as advertised!! Right on the beach. Amazing outdoor feel. Everything you need. Bedroom is cool and comfortable. We cooked several meals in a small kitchenette which was great! We are simple people who don’t need luxury and want to be right on the water… This place was amazing and just that. The location is right in the center of grand case. Tons of great restaurants and shops within walking distance.We would 100% stay here again!

Literally The Best Place To Stay In Sint Maarten

I want to make this easy for you. You will kick yourself, if you don't rent this place. And if you happen to pass by the bungalow, during your walk on Grand Case's beach, you will wish it was yours (i.e., at least for your stay, if not forever!). I know this first-hand because we watched people do just that everyday during our two week stay. And, I must add, there is nothing like having your own private beach -- that's walking distance from the best restaurants on the island. Perfect is an understatement for this slice of paradise, and there are no COVID consideration to concern yourself with. Departure testing is free, and the procedure is well organized. Bottom line, just book it! WCIII

One of only a couple beach front cottages on Grand Case beach.

You can't beat the views and location. It was perfect. We planned on cooking a few meals there but the location near so many great restaurants changed our minds. The bed is extremely comfortable. There's a little shutter that you can open while you shower and look out over the water. It is convenient to travel around the French side. We rented a car. The Super U was only 10 minutes away where you can get any food or alcohol you wanted. Orient Bay was about 15 minutes away. We spent our time between Grand Case, Orient Bay and Happy Bay depending on the winds.

Beautiful Views

The views from the terrace were absolutely beautiful. The owner and his family is very hospitable and even made fish for me one night. The only downside is the mosquitoes here were as bad as they were in Costa Rica. I didn't experience this anywhere else on the island. But, I left with over 50 bites on me. There's lots of standing water around, so I think this is why. I really enjoyed the terrace here, but you should know the rest of the place is very simple and a step above camping. Lots of bugs and you can't leave any food out in the kitchen or the ants get it. The hot water in the shower didn't have enough pressure to get the sand off and it only stayed hot for 3 minutes. The lighting is very dim. It was still great being so close to the water and Grand Case is a great area to stay. Just know this place is very rustic.

If you are considering renting this property, just go ahead because it is perfection. Also, Jean Francois is the most wonderful and welcoming host anyone could ever hope for. I cannot wait to return to St Martin and I cannot wait to return to this beautiful bungalow!

Amazing experience

Waking up and being on the beach when you walk out the front door made for an incredible vacation. Our host was amazing and very accommodating throughout our visit to the island. The location of this property is perfect with many awesome restaurants in walking distance.

This is the oasis you're looking for!

It is no exaggeration to say this was our dream vacation home. If you are trying to find an oasis for two on the beach, stop looking because you found it. Like basically everywhere in Grand Case, the bungalow is open air except for the bedroom, which locks and has an A/C unit. We spent most of our time on the spacious deck or in the ocean which is literally steps away. It's so much better than just a lounge chair and umbrella like most hotels have. Jean-Francois and his sweet dogs are such kind and gracious hosts! His house is attached to the back of the bungalow, so if you need him, you can just stand on the deck and call out. Having lived here for decades, he can tell you most anything you need to know. And I'm pretty sure he knows everyone in Grand Case! We used the kitchenette to store bread and jam from the bakery, butter, yogurt, and cheese from the supermarket, and rum from Busco down the street - a must visit! For dinner you are surrounded by such incredible food options from the local street food (lolos) to fine dining that we didn't need to cook, even though we had the equipment we needed. I read a lot about traveling to St. Martin that said you should rent a car. But unless you're planning to spend every day outside Grand Case, you will probably save yourself some headache by just taking an Uber or taxi. We only needed a car to and from the Dutch side airport (don't walk like we did! 😅) and to and from Loterie Farm, which I highly recommend for zip lining. Bottom line: This place is heaven, and I hope to return again soon. Merci beaucoup, Jean-Francois!
