Spacious home on the lake with lots of extras

We rented this home for our annual family vacation which included four families. We enjoyed this spacious house which had a king master bedroom with bath on the basement/terrace level. This level, which can be accessed right from the back yard, also had a home theater, pool and ping-pong table, bar and mini kitchen area. The main living area, which can be accessed from the front door as well as through the garage, also had a king master suite complete with full bath, including tub and walk in shower. Also on this level was a game room, living room, dining room, kitchen, den/office area, and laundry area. There is an extra refrigerator in the laundry area which was great for keeping drinks and ice. The outside kitchen/patio is also easily accessed from this level. We loved the gas grill and the big green egg and used these every day we ate in. The upstairs or 3rd level had 3 large bedrooms. One with a king bed, and one with a queen which shared a bathroom. The third bedroom had 3 beds and it's own bathroom which was perfect for our three teenage girls.

We rented a pontoon boat from Ray and enjoyed this added lake adventure. If you don't have your own boat, I highly recommend this. Also available are water skis, large tube to pull behind the boat, noodles, kayaks, paddle board, etc. The ropes to tow were included as were the paddles.

Although the walk to the dock was relatively easy for most, we had one member who has some difficulty walking down steps and over uneven surfaces, making the trek to the lake challenging, but we solved this with a simple work around. There is a park right next to the house which has a dock, so this family member simply drove to the dock (which has ample parking) and we picked them up by boat. It was a short boat ride to the house dock, enabling us all to enjoy the lake and relax on the dock.

We also enjoyed exploring the area of Gainesville and the town of Helen, which is a charming Bavarian themed town with lots of shops and restaurants.

Finally, our host, Ray, was responsive whenever we had a question or needed anything.

We did it again! Another wonderful vacation!!!

In 2016 we signed up for a month-long stay at the Northlake property. We had such a great time, that we booked a month in 2017! We were not disappointed! On check in day, we were surprised and delighted with updates/changes the owners had made since last summer! They added a beautiful new fire pit area in the backyard. It was perfect for making s'mores with the children and relaxing in the evenings with our guests! We used everyday the new wide staircase from the upper deck to the backyard and the lake trail. The many updates to the terrace level were appreciated...the finishing of the bar/kitchen area (including a new bottled water dispenser!), new exercise room and additional furniture in terrace bedroom...in the kitchen numerous updates in utensils was enjoyed. We loved the new Keurig coffeemaker!

Best of all, everything that we loved about Northlake from our first stay was just the same. A great place to gather with friends and family to enjoy everything that Lake Lanier has to offer! We brought our boat and jet ski and used the kayaks and paddle board that was with the property, so everyone had something fun to try in the water in the quiet cove...the total relaxation of floating on a raft while looking at the clouds, shared laughter as a 3 year old learns to jump off the dock, and the constant feeling of peace while in nature!

In the evenings, if we weren't grilling and eating on the expansive deck, we enjoyed the many wonderful restaurants in Gainesville. We also had some adult time in the terrace level with the big screen and watched several movies and even some of the home movies we brought to share with family!

All in all, to me a perfect vacation! We are looking forward to summer 2018 at Northlake!

Awesome!

The home was perfect for me and 5 other friends for the weekend. It was spacious and there was plenty of things to do in the home: play pool, watch movies, build a camp fire and grill. I would definitely plan a future vacation at this home.

Beautiful lake house became our home for a month long milestone birthday celebration!

We have boated on Lake Lanier for years. We have always wanted to own a lake home in a quiet place with calm water. This summer, in celebration of a milestone birthday, the Northlake property became our home for a FULL MONTH! We invited family and friends to staggered stays during our rental and enjoyed every minute! Owners, Ray and Carmel were wonderful "hosts" responding promptly to our pre-rental questions and doing everything possible to make our stay perfect! We encountered an issue the first week that Ray handled efficiently. We noted a problem with the septic system. Ray scheduled specialists to analyze the issue, get proper permits and dig up the back yard to greatly expand the leach field (2 year old grandson loved watching that!). The whole process was done quickly (on the day I picked that would least impact our vacation) to replace the original big hoses that had become clogged with tree roots with a new technology system that will be a permanent fix. After a city inspector approved the work, the yard was all back in order while we were on a tour of Helen! For the remainder of our stay, everything worked perfectly! We enjoyed great weather and many hours each day at the lake: swimming, floating, boating, water skiing, riding our jet ski, and sitting in the shaded boat or on the dock. The kayaks were in use nearly every day. The peace and quiet in the cove and surrounding trees was so serene. We enjoyed occasional sightings of a doe with two fawns and a daily visit from a blue heron looking for minnows at the shore. My husband, daughter and son-in-law all have their own businesses and work from home. They were delighted that the house had various places that they could work separately for part of the day and then just a quick walk to lake fun! We enjoyed the Gainesville area: great restaurants, grocery stores, fun shops to explore and GA mountains all close by. All guests reported that the beds were comfortable and bedrooms spacious. We LOVED the master. Wish we could take the spacious bath and closet home! We made use of all the extras in the house: pool table, big tv and outdoor deck for a quiet morning coffee and evening meals. We loved the quiet neighborhood and the walk to the end for a vigorous workout! All guests want to come back and several are hoping to rent the property for their family gatherings! Thanks Ray and Carmel!! Great memories! A birthday to remember! We will be back next summer!!!

Good stay overall

The property is spacious, maintained , clean and appeals to all ages. First floor Master is very nice and the basement play room is great and will be even better when complete. It appears that the owner is putting alot of time and effort into the property, new dock and walking bridge. The location is good with limited boat traffic. The pontoon boat rented was excellent.

The time stay overall was a good one and we would rent again.

There were a few issues that did not cause the overall stay to be unpleasant:

o The property was not ready at time we were to occupy, but the owner extend the check out time 2 hrs

o There was broken glass on the floor in the garage

o There were medications left in an access place that could have been reached by small children

o The downstairs was being renovated and was not completely finished

o In the back yard there was septic tank leakage

Vermieter-Kommentar: Bob, Thanks for the feedback. We value it tremendously. Check-in is 4 pm. However, my crew was still on the premises for one more hour, which by my standards, is unacceptable. I reprimanded them accordingly. I think I have compensated you handsomely by granting you a late checkout and making other considerations. There was a small picture frame that fell in the garage and broke indeed. I deemed this an accident, which my cleaning crew was not aware of, based on their recollection. We've since disposed of the shattered glass. As for the septic leakage observed in the backyard, it is a phenomenon that became apparent only recently and is due to excessive water consumption for an old leach field made of sand. I have taken steps since to correct the issue by replacing the sandy field with the latest in leach field technology. I am expanding the leach field as well. Although you have mentioned the renovation of part of the terrace level, it was neither advertised to you nor was it underway during your stay. And yes, at any point in time, any part of the property can be upgraded. I make sure however that such improvements are not publicized so that they do not become a factor in one's considerations for monthly rental or timeshare. In fact, I had committed to deliver the terrace-level bar, full bath, and bedroom to my current tenant for the month. I did deliver. So, the terrace level renovation is now complete. Vermieter-Kommentar: Thank you for the great review. Just so every potential tenant knows, we welcome timeshare/equivalent property time swap. However, we don't do short-term vacation rentals at this property. The monthly fee has been reduced tremendously. Take advantage of it to enjoy one of the greatest properties on lake Lanier for a minimum of 1 month.

1) No loud music or parties are allowed. Guests must keep the decibels at an acceptable level
2) Guests must not aggravate neighbors with behaviors that are incompatible with a residential neighborhood
3) The property is intended for families and friends that intend to enjoy a good time together in an atmosphere that does not provoke neighbors or require police intervention
4) Guests are allowed 1 and 1/2 bag (13-gal capacity/bag) of garbage per day. However, guests must dispose of excessive trash themselves or incur a fee of $200 for disposal. (Please ask owner how to dispose of excessive garbage.)
5) Heavily soiled towels are subject to a cleaning or replacement fee
6) No pets are allowed without exception. A fee of $250 will be deducted from the refundable damage deposit otherwise
7) This property is non-smoking. A fee of $250 will be deducted from the refundable damage deposit for smoking
