Lakefront cabin on legendary Lake Vermilion with private dock, AC, and sunset views.
Nestled along Wakemup Narrows, this pet-friendly family-legacy Northwoods retreat sleeps up to four and offers three cozy bedrooms, a wood-burning fireplace, and a deck just steps from the shore. Fish, paddle, or swim by day, then gather by the fire as loons call and stars appear.
The Space
Hand-built in the 1960s and ’70s, the cabin carries the calm spirit of simpler summers, thoughtfully balanced with modern comforts—including Wi-Fi suitable for streaming. Just steps from the lake, a short staircase and a parallel stairs-free path both lead to the shoreline, close enough to hear the water yet peacefully tucked away.
Inside, tongue-and-groove pine walls and ceilings, sun-warmed wood floors, and a great room centered around a wood-burning fireplace create a warm, inviting atmosphere. A wall of windows frames lake views, glowing sunsets, and on special nights, the Northern Lights. Gather around the pine dining table for shared meals, games, or morning coffee as the lake slowly wakes.
Sleeping spaces include a king bedroom, a handcrafted pine bunkroom, and a double bedroom—each cozy and well-appointed with fresh linens and convenient charging stations. The fully stocked kitchen is ready for everything from pancake breakfasts to fish fries, with full-size appliances, ample cookware, coffee options, and thoughtful extras like stocked spices, food storage wraps, and a rice cooker. The tiled bathroom offers a hot shower, vanity storage, basic toiletries, paper essentials, and plenty of towels.
Outside, lake life unfolds effortlessly. Dine or relax on the deck as the sky turns pink and gold, gather around the private firepit, or step onto the dock to fish or tie up your boat. A rare small sandy walk-in wading beach between docks offers an easy way to cool off in a lake known for its rocky shores.
Adventure is always within reach with kayaks, water bikes, a paddle boat, rafts, life jackets, beach towels, and bikes available for guest use. Anglers will appreciate the fish-cleaning station with running water, dockside power, bait fridge, and freezer space. Wildlife sightings are common, with frequent visits from birds, chipmunks, and hummingbirds—and the occasional beaver or mink passing by.
This is a place where mornings are quiet, evenings glow with firelight, and the lake becomes part of your daily rhythm—just as it has for generations before.
Guest Access
Guests enjoy contactless keyless entry via door code provided before check-in.
The cabin is on a shared property with owners next door, typically on-site if needed. Guests have a private cabin, deck, dock, firepit, and guest-only parking for up to four vehicles or trailers.
The dedicated guest dock accommodates one boat up to 22 ft. Advance approval (2 weeks prior) is required for additional boats, as extra docking is limited. A public launch and on-water fuel are just a 1–2 minute boat ride away, with additional launches within 3.5–5 miles.
