Our stay here was so wonderful it accomedated all of our familly . The Cabin was warm with all the heaters they worked great. The rooms were clean beds, restrooms . The kitchen had everything and we enjoyed eating our meals in the dining room it was so comfortable it felt like our home away from home. Let's not forget to mention the entertainment room down stairs it made our experience that much more fun we had a place to hang out and enjoy ourselves. All in all it was a Great cabin to stay in definitely would reccomend it.
We stayed here for our wedding weekend and found it to be a cute and cozy place to be. We loved being in the trees and it was quiet compared to the several times we've stayed in hotels in Flagstaff. My favorite parts were the charm of the wood construction, the gas fireplace/stove, and the nice big deck. It was stocked with the essentials, though we did find some of the pots and pans were fairly worn - it's understandable that older cooking supplies would be in a rental property, but we did notice a difference compared to what we have at home especially with regard to eggs sticking to the pan. There was more than enough space for the two of us, but I'd imagine there would be a bathroom backlog if both bedrooms and the attic/loft beds were occupied since there is only one shower. Not necessarily negatives for us, but definitely items to consider if you have a lot of plans like hiking/skiing/kayaking that lend themselves to a lot of people wanting to shower at the same time.
We did encounter three or so wolf spiders in the property over the 4 days/3 nights we were there. There was also a miss around the WiFi. We booked the cabin five months before our wedding and about a week before our check-in, we got an email saying we would not have internet access. The owner replaced the router over Labor Day weekend but the CenturyLink call center was not open on September 5 and he was unable to have anyone set up the router on September 6, 7, or 8 before our check-in. We were given the option to cancel our reservation but no recourse for the change in amenities if we kept the reservation. With only a couple of days before the trip and it being our wedding weekend, we weren't in a place to postpone our stay or increase our budget to find something comparable last minute. We have family in the Philippines that could not attend our wedding and not being able to post pictures from the cabin was detrimental to our stay. The owner said he would change the listing to not advertise WiFi due to the finicky nature of the service out there, but two months later (writing this on November 6, finally catching up post-wedding) I still see "We will provide you with access to WIFI, but no cable TV." in the property description as well as references to WiFi in the "Stereo" and "Television" descriptions of the Entertainment section. It is unclear whether those issues have been resolved - if WiFi is important to your stay, I would definitely ask whether it will be available.
My experience at Jim's idyllic cabin was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend booking a stay at this cabin if you're looking for something with peace and privacy, off the beaten path. I will definitely book another stay the next time I'm in the Flagstaff area. Thanks again Jim!
Great spot and quiet. Nice accomodations and easy. Would come back.
Very nice, clean, spacious with all the extras as advertised. Centrally located. We were able to take in the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Winslow, and the petrified Forest and Painted Desert within the few days we were there. Would stay there again should we make this trip in the future. Just couldn't get it all in the first time around.
We had an overall great experience staying in this log home. It had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing stay. This home has some attractive features that make it stand out: a wonderful balcony with a gas grill and table, a nice warm loft, a basement for entertainment, and it's in a great location in the forest.
It's furnished comfortably, is well lit with large windows, and stays warm inside on cold nights with the central gas furnace. There is a washer and dryer in the basement, a pool table, and everything else already mentioned in the description. The only thing missing was a coffee grinder for the nice coffee machine already in place. We bought one and left it for others to enjoy some good fresh coffee.
If you're reading this far, you're likely looking for some dirt since everyone know nothing is 100% perfect. I'll just mention the few things that got the frown during our stay but were easily taken care of. First, the towels and sheets weren't washed, they did look clean but the wrinkles were a sure sign they didn't get washed before we arrived. That easily got resolved with the downstairs washer & dryer, no big deal. The other thing was the numerous spider webs inside several window screens, I suppose they get cleaned once a year and not after every visitor stay, no big deal either.
It was a really pleasant experience staying at this log cabin. It has all the comforts of home, located in a quiet forest, with great access to city things. Also worth mentioning is the area not far from the home offers many trails for hiking and mountain biking, which we explored everyday. This home gets 5 stars for sure.
