Plan to return!

  • 4 von 5

First, the Cons (ish): Had to set up a specific time to be there which is tough when you're trying to relax, vacation, hike, etc. We chose 3:30pm, stressed about being on time, and then waiting 15-20 min to meet the person at the office.

Road to cabins: We were fine in our 4x4 pick up truck, but I would never take my car on the approx 1.5mile dirt road to the cabins.

Info that would have been good to know: You cannot drive right up to cabins, and though its a short walk from the (somewhat sketchy - again, felt ok w/4wd) parking area it is a relatively steep though short hill down to them and we probably would've brought a radio flyer wagon to wheel down the stuff instead of carrying it all. No access to electricity including in the bathhouse.

None of these cons are deal breakers by any means, but good things to know.

Not JB's fault: Upon arrival to cabins there were some very nice dogs of other guests running around. Despite my immediate request to one of the adults in the group that they be leashed while we unload the car including our own (leashed) dogs, that request was completely ignored. Apparently we weren't the only ones annoyed by this as another group actually left their cabin a night early as a result. Once staff talked to the group about leashing their dogs they did so right away. Very nice group, just very annoying at the start to have my request blatantly ignored.

PROS! Gorgeous, peaceful setting. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise right out the window of the cabin.Totally off the grid which is what I prefer when I'm in the mountains! Very reasonably priced. Very cool that activities (horseback rides, ATV tours) are available on site. Bathhouse was clean, but kind of dark even in the daytime - would bring a headlamp leading up to dusk and obviously at night.

We hope to come back with a group and rent all of the cabins to have all the fun and none of the worry about bothering/being bothered by other vacationers!

The one thing I like was the view and peaceful atmosphere.

This cabin is located exit 129 of the I70 West corridor. There is a gate that the owners close. If you are going to be after a certain time in the evening the owner claims 24hr notification is required however I did not find this on the website nor was a told. They claim they send a confirmation e-mail apart from the one you get from VRBO however I received nothing. Also the link to the confirmation of VRBO does not provide any information at all. It basically states no information is available for this property. Once you enter the property you do have to travel a couple of miles on a gravel road to reach the cabins. 4X4 recommended the roads are rough. I even tried to access the website and for more than 4 weeks could not access the website but low and behold as soon as I get to Glenwood it pulls up. No address to arrive to, rude service on the phone and awful service during our stay.

No electricity

The bathroom literally has one skylight above one of the toilet stalls . Other than that you have to figure your way in the dark or use your own form of light.

No picnic table

You are required to use one community fire ring with the rest of the cabins.

The Service

Wow this was the worst of all and the very reason we chose to end our trip after two nights and the third night will not be refunded due to a one month in advance cancel policy.

The family that owns the cabins are not the same people as the ones that own the Adventure company.

Even though we arrived in the evening , no one ever came to introduce themselves the next day.

We stopped by a green trailer we were told was the office and the guy had no clue. Told us it was up to us to figure out our own entertainment. Once we discovered who the woman was that I spoke with on the phone she had absolutely nothing kind to say . Full of negativity and attitude the whole time. Glared at us when we would pass by. They had a grill dinner they offered to the rest of the guests and not once attempted to invite us or even offer to us. Definitely will not return and would not recommend. I would rather stay in a tent.

Vermieter-Kommentar: Colette, thank you for your input. If you did not receive a confirmation of booking then how did you even know you rented the cabin? How did you then receive the appropriate contact for check in. So, obviously you received a confirmation email as you arrived and had a number to call and those automatically go out when booking is approved. We rent several cabins all summer and not one guest has ever complained of that. As a reminder the cabin description is available for all cabins BEFORE you book. This information includes things like the electricity, amenities and description, even a picture of the dirt road to access the cabin. I apologize you did not book any activities. I will have a visit with the office and make sure they provide guests with a phone number for booking activities. But we also don't go cabin to cabin asking people to come to dinner. We offer privacy and allow those staying to plan there own vacation. Our check in Manager is very polite and would never "glare" at anyone. It sounds to me that you must of had a large Misunderstanding. We would NEVER go cabin to cabin offering dinner to everyone Except you. That sounds rather childish and pathetic. The website for booking also INCLUDES a descriptions of the different activities offered at the ranch.

Great location, wonderful place

  • 5 von 5

This was our 2nd time staying at this property this summer. It is located on a beautiful ranch just outside of Glenwood Springs. It is family owned and run, and they are just wonderful. We love the rustic cabins; it is a great alternative to camping if the weather doesn't cooperate. Very scenic location, very quiet and serene. The cabins each sleep 4 people, the toilets and showers are in a separate building. There is a small pond and a nice campfire ring outside the cabins. A great place!

Wonderful Ranch for all

  • 5 von 5

This place has something for everyone. These camper cabins are absolutely wonderful if you are a fan of camping. You need to bring everything you would for normal camping, less the tent. Also, be sure to bring a vehicle that can get up a relatively bumpy and windy road. I would recommend a 4x4 (or at least something that sits a little higher off the ground just to be safe) but we had friends with us that brought their Altima and had no trouble. this is the 3rd or 4th time I have been to Bair Ranch and each time I leave, I anxiously await my next return. The scenery is breath taking, the employees are enjoyable to work with, Glenwood is a quick 15 min drive away and the river is right at the entrance of the ranch. They offer ATV tours, horseback rides, chuck wagon dinners. If you don't like camping, they also offer fully equipped cabins. I have never stayed in these so I can't comment on the amenities, but they look quite nice from driving by. I highly suggest you check out Bair Ranch and enjoy a spectacular weekend (or longer!)
