Northgate stay

This house was very well stocked with supplies, very clean and new carpet throughout but only one tv in the whole house and very limited viewing options on that tv (it had cable but most channels stilled required an additional subscription). Disappointed we couldn't use the pool in March, closed for renovations. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Price is always relative, especially when considering the exchange rate from Canada but I am bummed to see such a review given the historically positive reviews this property receives. After hearing about the bbq, it was addressed, the backyard is not being "fixed up" as the we have a beautiful extended patio and the families that stay with us love the area for the kiddos to play in the natural landscape. As for the chair a few fasteners had come loose that were corrected so thank you for letting us know! Thanks again for providing feedback on a few areas that needed attention.

Clean and Convenient

We were in town to visit family for Thanksgiving. This home provided us with plenty of room to stretch out - rather than staying with family. Home was well stocked, including kitchen. The community has a playground, a big grassy area and a community pool (although it was too cold to use). The master mattress was a bit too soft for our liking and the one of the twin sheets had a whole in it. But these issues were minor. So on the whole I'd recommend this place and rate it highly.

This beautiful home had everything we could possibly have needed. Clean, quiet, roomy, centrally located, in a safe gated community. Close to freeways. Travis was responsive to any questions. Only disappointment is rhe pool was closed for renovations, which was out of his control. Hopefully we can book for next year.

Beautiful, clean house - as advertised

Beautiful, clean modern house. Well stocked with everything our family needed (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, cooler, towels, beach towels, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, kitchen supplies, etc). Beds were all comfortable and TV in family room was awesome. Travis was great to work with - he was very accommodating and responsive. We would highly recommend staying here as we had a five star experience!

Overall, it was a reasonable stay, but I do not expect we will be back. The most frustrating issue is the undisclosed lease. We booked 19 days before arrival; the landlord told us to expect the lease "in the next few days", but we didn't get it until 8 days prior. It requires driver's license number for all adults as well as all childrens' names; this is private info not needed for a short-term rental. If the landlord wishes to verify tenants, he should use VRBO traveler verification feature. I assume the landlord will complain we didn't raise this beforehand. This is because we were stuck. The odds of modification were nil. With 8 days before arrival, complaining, getting a refund, and re-booking elsewhere wasn't practical. So, we were stuck signing a lease that made us uncomfortable. Arrival after dark was not pleasant. The address is illegible from the street, and I had to find an unfamiliar alarm panel quickly in an unfamiliar pitch-dark house. The location is fine. The gated community is a hassle, but it's a diverse, non-pretentious neighborhood. No services within walking distance. Pool is pretty nice (note, fob is smaller than you might expect), and the playground is also quite nice. They are not quite as close as you might expect from the photos, because the back yard has no gate, but it's not a problem. The place was clean and ready for our arrival. The closets contain a lot of extra supplies of various types. It's a nice layout and well equipped. The landlord provided various contact information but stayed out of the way. It is well equipped for kids, but there are gaps. For example, there is a surprisingly large number of toys, but all the balls were flat (perhaps there is an inflator; we didn't need to look). There is a lot of the head-cracking tile seemingly inescapable in Phoenix (including at the bottom of the stairs), though less than other VRBOs we've stayed in. There is also a wine glass rack in the kitchen at the perfect height for toddler mischief. The thermostats are "smart" and try to "learn" your daily habits, which of course do not exist in a short-term rental, so the schedule they had learned was ludicrous (e.g. increase the heat from the cool sleeping temperature we'd set to 73 degrees at 2am on some, but not all, days of the week). Also, there is no hold feature, so if you adjust the temperature, it only stays that way until the next random scheduled adjustment.

Great house in Phoenix!

My family (2 adults and 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay at this house in mid-March. It’s in a very quiet, safe subdivision and is located super close to a gorgeous pool, playground, green space, and basketball courts. The house is very clean and well-stocked. The master bedroom and very spacious master bath was great to have. The kids enjoyed their own space and bathroom, we appreciated that we could park our car in the garage. There are even some toys for the kids, and pool toys too! The kitchen has everything we needed, and the washer and dryer came in handy before we embarked on the second half of our vacation. We were able to get around Phoenix easily from this location. Easy access to spring training games, museums, and Scottsdale. We discovered some good nearby restaurants too. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others!

Ok property, but beware the owner

This property is great only if you have family in the same neighborhood. Otherwise, I would not recommend this area. The property itself has some issues with noisy washer/dryer, dishwasher that need updating. But ultimately it is my belief this owner attempts to nickel and dime clients and while we have requested documentation numerous times he has been unable to provide it and I had to contact Homeaway (even though he attempted to discourage me from doing so) and currently waiting for their resolution. We followed the departure instructions exactly and left the unit cleaner than when we arrived and yet were told we had incurred additional cleaning expenses. When asked why, he was not able to give us any answers. He also requires a long lease agreement be signed which when I contacted Homeaway they said that should be sent within days of securing the property on Homeaway. Instead he sent it a week before arrival. Just beware and know what you're getting into.

Always two sides... Go with the majority (like all!) of my reviews or feel free to give me a call before booking and you will get a good laugh. Nic truly soured my desire to keep renting to VRBO people but bound to get a lemon once in a while. I opted to take the high road but kept getting slapped in the face at every turn. Cleaning/Nickel & Dime: My cleaning service is the same person every time and provides consistent unbiased feedback after every rental. I never even asked him to pay for the excess cost I endured after they left, I just made him aware and absorbed it. The only actual cost I passed along was for was actions he took, that he admitted was his fault and only AFTER his damage deposit was refunded minus the agreed upon excess bank charges I endured for HIS actions, that he decided he didn't want to honor. Mind you this after I did provide documentation he falsely states I did not provide...Yep, at some point you have to stand up for yourself. Equipment: I appreciate getting the feedback on washer and dryer. Technician was out yesterday and found source of problem. My return tenants that stay every Jan and Feb for the last three years will enjoy the upgrade as well but I am sure they would have mentioned. As far as the dishwasher, it's a stainless steel appliance that cleans well and I have never received similar feedback...reaching??? Lease Agreement: I've been a property manager since 2005, President of an HOA at another property I manage and have two long-term rental properties in addition to this VRBO. Needless to say my agreement is standard rental agreement jargon to cover the basis and requires a signature and information on who will be at the property. Contradiction: This is the message I got upon him leaving the property...a little different tone than his "anonymous" review... "Great timing! We just set alarm, locked up, put key back and off. Great house! You may want to get a new washer dryer. They work just fine but are super loud! All in all thanks!!!"  So, I hold the renter accountable for charges they initiated and agreed to pay, a washer and dryer was* loud but now fixed (again I appreciate being told actually) and I get 1 star negative review defaming my character...

Great stay

Our family had a wonderful stay here. We had 4 adults and two kids - plenty of space and the house was well stocked. The kids loved the playground and pool area, plus the toys in the kid room. They also had a crib and highchair for our use, which helped a ton. Overall - a great stay! I would definitely recommend this house to friends!

Clean, open, roomy and comfortable!

We had a great stay here. 5 in our family with 3 teenagers. So we love having some room to spread out. House was clean, open and felt like home away from home! Pool with hot tub was great. As was access to the highway to get us everywhere we needed to go. And having the ability to cook food and throw in a few loads of laundry was very helpful! Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Excellent Property and Owner

The family and I travelled to Phoenix for a quick trip and a couple of Spring Training games. The house worked great, comfortable and plenty of room for the 4 of us. Many short term rentals have a minimally stocked kitchen, not this rental. The kitchen was fully stocked including some of the extra's that are often missing. Plenty of coffee filters, paper towels, spices, sugar, etc. various other spices, hot sauces and other non-perishables. All in all, easy to get set up without spending extra on things that you will end up throwing away at the end of the stay. The pool is right next door, but is not heated. So early season stays like ours (late Feb.) the pool is not usable unless you are a polar bear. There is a hot tub that is heated however. Non-rush hour it is about a 25 minute drive from the airport. The owner is easy to work with, responds quickly to emails and promptly refunds the damage deposit at the end of your stay. Highly recommend this property.

This place was absolutely perfect for us! And Travis was beyond amazing to work with!

I had a bunch of my employees working in Phoenix for 3 weeks, and I wanted them to finish a hard days work and have a place to go home to and relax and enjoy themselves. And this property couldn’t have been any better! My employees loved using all the amenities, and truly felt like they were on vacation rather then working out of town! Plus Travis was the best property manager I think I have ever rented from! Thanks for a great time!

Everything you could of wished for

This home in Phoenix was great. It had everything and Travis was always responsive and accommodating. We were a party of 6, coming up from L.A. to watch the Dodgers at Spring training. The place was comfortable, well situated and stocked with everything you can need. The 3 bedrooms were great but that couch in the living room made you never want to get up. The back patio overlooks the pool and is a great place to relax in the evenings. Not much more to say other than as advertised it's like a resort. 5 stars!

Relaxing reunion weekend!

Delightful! Spotless, perfectly equipped with anything you would need. We enjoyed the free green space out back and the peace and quiet. The weather was also pleasant so we spent a lot of time on the patio. We would return in a heartbeat.
