Wyndsong Manor ist ein Reiseziel Utila verwaltete Eigenschaft.
We rented this place as a 2 bedroom during the month of January this year. We had been to Utila before and love it. We are seriously thinking of building our own home there. We had never seen Wyndsong on our previous trips, probably because it is brand new. Man, were we surprised! This place is over the top, but still very inexpensive for what you get. This is a real 5 star property. There is nothing like it on Utila as far as we know. All rooms are beautifully decorated and we had every amenity imaginable. We don’t normally look for the fanciest place when we travel, but this place didn’t cost any more than the lesser desirable places so we figured, why not?? Even though we had a golf cart, we walked to the restaurants a lot of the time as it is only a nice 10 minute stroll to town. I think it is the only place we will stay from now on. I really can’t think of any criticism to report except that about 3 days into our visit the air conditioner in one of the bedrooms stopped blowing cold air. We reported it to the property managers and someone showed up within 30 minutes and it was working better than ever within the hour. Hope this helps.
Visited Utila in March. Just now getting around to writing the review. There were two couples and one single adult in our group. Airport pickup and transportation to the house went very well. It is surprising to see a place of this caliber on a small Caribbean island. All rooms are extremely well furnished, very clean, and kitchen has all appliances, pots, pans etc. for food preparation and cooking. US Cable TV Channels, internet and Air Conditioning were in all rooms.
Delightful couple, Jim & Vicki, were the managers (can’t remember last name). The views from the living room (all glassed in), decks and the top rooftop (very private) sun bathing deck are astonishing.
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Love Utila, and will definitely come back to the island and rent this house again.
My husband and I and our teen age son stayed at Wyndsong Manor and loved it. This was our 3rd time visiting Utila (we love the island). I guess I should start by saying WOW! This place is unbelievable. It is a brand new 4 story home and we almost didn’t choose it because it was larger than we needed, but we were told that we could rent as much or little of it as we wanted, which didn’t make sense to me until I saw it. We are very happy with our choice. We only wanted two bedrooms, and the house is built in such a way that some floors can be locked off if you don’t want all 4 bedrooms but you still get pretty much the entire house and all the decks, no matter how many bedrooms you choose, so that is an awful lot of bang for your buck! Renting two bedrooms you get a 1st floor living room with TV, Wi-Fi and AC, then up one flight of stairs there are two bedrooms, beautiful living room, modern kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms and a large wrap around deck right on the ocean. All rooms have TV, AC & Wi-Fi. The two separate living areas are nice if you want some privacy to read a book or use the internet (my husband had to check in with work once in awhile, so he had a private area for that). In addition, we had access to the top two decks with really quite an unbelievable view, not only of the ocean and stars, but the big lagoon behind the house and the town of Utila in the distance. We didn’t rent a golf cart or scooter since the house was only about a 10 minute walk to town. The property managers picked us up from the airport and let us stop at the grocery store on the way to the house and they were both very accommodating & helpful throughout our stay. There are several SCUBA diving sites in front of the house. We don’t dive but we did snorkel. Be aware that you need some sort of booties or sandals because if the tide is low you might have to walk across a rocky patch of shoreline to get into the water. We have definitely found our new favorite place to stay on Utila. Basically it’s a mansion on the sea for the price of a smaller 2 bedroom house.
Pros: New home decorated beautifully with every amenity we needed, lots of private deck areas, professional & polite managers, close to the stores but very private, cable TV, Wi-Fi and AC in every room.
Cons: It rained 3 of the 7 days but we were told that was unusual for June, the internet went out for about 3 hours one day (which we wouldn’t have even known if it hadn't been raining).
My family and I found this property to be everything it was advertised to be and more. It’s only a few minutes to town by bicycle or a nice 10 minute walk. Nothing can prepare you for the view on the 4th floor observation deck and 5th floor private sun deck. Day or night this must be the best view on the island! The interior is decorated in Spanish tile with beautiful leather furniture. Each bedroom has its own full private bathroom and everything worked great, something we were told might not be the case on these small islands. Kitchen was superb, with all stainless appliances and every glass, dish, pan or cooking utensil you could ever need. House was spotless when we checked in. Great snorkeling and SCUBA diving right out front. The winds were calm when we were there, making for a nice calm sea in front of the house. Utila wasn’t as rustic as we had heard. There were no 5 star restaurants, taxi’s or fast food joints, which was exactly what we were looking for, but there were plenty of locally owned restaurants serving great food, good swimming beaches and several good sunset bars.
Suggestions: Don’t change your US dollars into local currency as we did in the Roatan airport, the last stop before arriving on Utila, as the US dollar is welcome on Utila. Take a flashlight with you when leaving the house in the evenings if you will be out after sunset. The walk/ride back to Wyndsong is dark on some parts of the road. The house is brand new and perfect, but the grounds could use a little landscaping. We were told that project is in the works. Be aware that you are allowed 30 kilowatt hours of electric usage daily which is plenty to run all the appliances and ceiling fans and to air condition the main living area in the evenings, but if everyone in your party wants to sleep under the AC in the bedrooms, your usage could exceed the allowance and the difference will be deducted from your deposit. We used the AC units a lot & went over our allotted power usage, but the additional expense only amounted to about $75.00 for the entire two weeks, so not really even worth mentioning, when split between 3 couples.
Summary: A top quality, first class private home, decorated beautifully, great location, and managed by a great couple, Jim & Vicki, who we never saw unless we needed something or asked for advice, and then they were immediately available. I like that style of management!
We highly recommend this place and will book again next year for sure.
Four-stories tall, new, and bright gold in color, Wyndsong Manor can be seen from almost everywhere on Utila, and all you have to do is tell a tuk-tuk driver that you are staying in Mark Williams' house, and they will know instantly where you are or where you are going. We were the second renters to stay in this magnificent manor and found it be a memorable stay. The two bedrooms with attached baths are identical -- one on each side of the living area -- so we slept in one (queen bed a bit soft for us, but otherwise OK) but husband used the second bath as his own -- nice! The kitchen is well-equipped, and if the island's supply boats have been in, you can buy most of the basic foodstuffs in town, about a 15-minute walk away. Napkins, paper towels, bath/dish/laundry soaps, salt/pepper, and a cell phone are provided. Hopefully, as more people stay here perhaps a small supply of cooking oil, spray oils, sugar, and so on will accumulate and carry over from guest to guest. The outside, ocean-front deck is the best part of staying here -- it's just you and the ocean. It was very windy with rough surf while we were there, so can't comment on the swimming; it seemed treacherous with lots of coral at the water's edge. The seaweed problem that currently is plaguing beaches all over the Caribbean was here as well. We would suggest snorkeling at the other end of town at Blue Bayou as opposed to the waters near this house. Water is precious on Utila, so the huge showers are adequate but not forceful. Drinking water is provided but we used the tap water for brushing teeth and making coffee with no problems. The decor is a mix of delightful (Saltillo tile floors, bright Mexican tile trims, handsome painted bathroom sinks) and dark masculine (massive leather sofa, loveseat, and chair). A brighter rug and some colorful throw pillows would tie everything together and make for a more lighthearted atmosphere in the living room. As it is, however, it is very comfortable. TV brought in most major US stations (we smugly watched the East Coast struggle with deep snow!), and the WiFi worked quite well. This property is managed by Destination Utila, run by Vickie and Jim Frazier, and they are the best part of the deal. They have created a binder full of restaurant recommendations, tips on enjoying the island, calling a tuk-tuk, and so on, plus they live just down the road and are on call for advice while you are in residence.
