What a great place to stay. Owner is a good guy to work with. Help me in every way I asked. Would stay there again no doubt about it.
Peaceful cabin in the woods, about 30 min from Snowshoe. Cabin hidden in the woods, furnished and stocked very well, overlooks a stream . Owners are very nice and helpful. The no cell service or Cable TV was MOST welcomed for my family's escape from the DMV. Very comfortable pillow top beds, open floor plan with loft (good for kids to sleep in). Washer/dryer, microwave, oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, DVD player (loads of DVDs/books/board games). Have a hard copy of a map, bc chances are good that your smart phone/GPS will fail you out there!
My husband and I stayed at Frank and Micki's beautiful cabin in West Virginia while we skied at Snowshoe for a few days. I was amazed how clean and beautiful this cabin was. My husband and I get around during the winter traveling to different ski resorts and hands down this cabin has been the best kept by far. Our dogs absolutely loved the location in the woods. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. I understand that they usually greet their visitors but unfortunately due to our crazy ski schedules (we are ski bums) we didn't get to meet but touched base on the phone to ensure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property if looking for a beautiful, secluded cabin in the woods!
I can't even begin to tell you how amazing our trip to Elk Water Fork Cabin was. If you are looking to use your cell phone, watch cable tv, or browse the internet during your vacation this place is NOT for you! If you are looking to relax on a porch, listen to the stream burbling while you lose yourself in a book, go hiking in the woods, make s'mores by a fire, then this is your place. Frank and Micki are so kind and have thought of everything you could need for your stay. The beds are amazingly soft with thick cushy blankets, the couch and easy chair are huge and overstuffed, and the kitchen has all the pots, pans, and miscellaneous items you'll need. They graciously have us a dozen fresh eggs when we arrived and came down two of the days to bring firewood and build us an outdoor fire. We are already planning Mountain Mama Getaway 2017!
Great place to stay. Private and in the middle of nature with access to plenty of national, state and local parks. Snowshoe close by for skiers in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Cass, WV close by for steam train rides up the mountain. Spruce Knob the highest point in WV as well as other locations you can travel to on a day trip. The owners are friendly and the cabin is well furnished. Great place to get away from the city but keep in mind no mobile phone service or tv cable service but they have a DVD with plenty of DVDs and a telephone land line. However I came there to enjoy nature, hike, sit on the front porch and by the fire pit. Beds and linens were wonderful. Everything was comfortable and the kitchen was supplied with everything you need to cook. Bring your own supplies cause it's a good distance to a grocery store or restaurant.. Would stay there again!
