Amenities were as stated and more. Everything you would expect in a household and more. From our location on the hill top we could see the ocean in the distance on what seemed to be three sides. We made breakfast each day but enjoyed one of the many great restaurants for other meals. I didn't need to bring my hair dryer, fan or beach towels. Even lotion and "Off" was provided. We enjoyed visits from the neighbor's four friendly dogs which was great since our pets at home were missed. Everything was sparkly clean and easy to keep that way with washer, dryer and supplies. Val, the property manager picked us up as promised at the ferry dock and provided a contact who rented us a car at a reasonable rate which turned out great.
I would highly recommend a stay at Casa Perla Fina, plenty of room, I wish we had brought others there to share the accommodations.
We really enjoyed the large selection of excellent restaurants, things move a bit slower than we are used to in Illinois but we relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance. Some of our favorites were Tin Box for sushi plus a lovely little handmade jewelry store attached. Bili's for lunch with souvenir shopping on premises and across the street. Mamasonga was great for bar type food, Coqui Fire was a hoot for eclectic Mexican and a bar tender with attitude! Blue Moon Bay and at night Belly Buttons for live music.
We went on two tours: The Bio Luminescent Bay tour was magical, best to do that one on a dark night when there's a new moon. I recommend going out in the kayaks if you can, rather than the pontoon boat, it puts you closer to the viewing action, we used Blue Waters Tours, very educational. Another tour was that of the Sugar Mill Ruins, Anthony the tour guide was the best and entertaining.
The best beaches we visited were on the south side of the island in Esperanza over by the Refuge in La Chiva Bay. There was a lady at the Refuge Center who was very helpful in directing us. Never was there a crowd at the beach, always plenty of room.
Most of all we enjoyed the horses roaming free everywhere, along with dogs, cats and chickens. All animals seemed healthy and well fed. Everyone we met was so friendly and accommodating. In the evening it was always a comfort to return to our little get-away. Definitely an experience we will never forget. Thank you Ana and Val! Best Regards, Patti & Ron
This stand-alone house with convenient off-street parking has got everything you could need in a vacation home including a great view of the mainland of Puerto Rico and the sister island, Culebra. Situated almost at the top of a hill, there is also an expansive view of the small town of Isabel Segunda and its surrounding neighborhoods. The home’s comfortable cross breezes kept us in comfort without needing the bedroom air conditioners. If you chose Vieques because of the horses you won’t be disappointed by staying here. We thought the home was decorated and furnished to perfection for an island retreat. We particularly appreciated the spacious wrap around porch, large shower, paint colors, quality bedding and towels, and unique and tasteful decorative touches.
Our favorite place to eat on the island was Coqui Fire Cafe, a gourmet Mexican restaurant, but you need reservations because it is small and popular! We hit almost all the beaches on the island. You will be sure to find several that meet your needs depending on if you want to sunbathe, hunt for sea glass, snorkel, swim, etc. They are all a short drive away.
Just one thing to be aware of: This is a typical Caribbean island with many dogs and chickens. If you run the bedroom air conditioner (one in each bedroom) you probably won’t be disturbed by crowing or barking during your sleep, otherwise the sounds are one of those island charms, that come with living and vacationing on a Caribbean Island.
We enjoyed our stay very much. House was very up to date, comfortable ; king bed, nice linens, no problems.
Absolutely excellent place. Very clean and updated. Wifi was great, was able to stream Netflix. Kitchen is very well stocked with nice pots/pans, and anything you would need for cooking. Beautiful view from the porch. AC worked great, but did not need it much. Great supply of snorkels, beach toys and umbrella's, chairs, etc for a day at the beach. They have thought of everything here! I would definitely recommend.
My family of four has stayed here twice in one year. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, up on a hill. Horses sometimes wander by but aren't intrusive. The neighbors are friendly but also nonintrusive. The views are lovely; you can see the ocean, other brightly colored homes, and you can hear the ocean waves even though they are a bit of a walk away. Casa Perla Fina is a short drive to Isabel II and all its amenities. It's also just about 10-15 minutes from the beaches of the south shore. The house is very comfortable for a family of four. The "kid's" room has a large bed and a day bed. Our 11 and 8 year-olds (boy and girl) were very comfortable in there (the room is large). The bed in the adult's room is very comfortable. All beds have comfy pillows and sheets. Ceiling fans in every room, and A/C in the bedrooms, which is a must for me. The kitchen has everything you need, there are games and some beach items as well. The house isn't huge, so it would be fine for a couple w/o kids as well. The porch is lovely; great views but we were there in the wet season so the mosquitos kept us inside for most of the time. But when we were there at a drier time of year, the air was cooler and we spent more time on the porch. Highly recommended!
This was our first trip to Vieques and we were amazed at the beautiful views from the spacious deck. We sipped our coffee there each morning and our wine in the evening. There are lounge chairs and a large table where we ate our lunch. Because Casa Perla Fina is located at the top of the hill, it affords spectacular views and an amazing breeze at all hours of the day. The outdoor shower allowed us to rinse off after returning from one the many beaches located nearby (short car ride away). The house had an extremely well stocked large kitchen with a breakfast bar and stools and the living room had such comfy couches that I almost dozed off watching a movie. There are two very large bedrooms each equipped with ceiling fans and air conditioning. The bed was very comfortable and I suspect that the sheets were Egyptian cotton or a 900+ thread count because they made it hard to get out of the bed! We were able to explore many sections of the island: Isabel, Esperanza, Sun Bay and Playa Negra-which is a beach with black glistening sand, truly a remarkable sight. There are many things to do on the island-from snorkeling (equipment provided), kayaking, fishing, diving, horseback riding or just hanging at the beach swimming in the clearest turquoise waters (beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrella, cooler, etc... also provided). One of the most delightful surprises was the delicious food! The burgers at Cafe Mamasonga were unbelievable, the food truck Sol Food arguably had the best Jamaican Jerk chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. It came with pineapple chutney that was so fresh. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Tin Box where they grow all of the food they serve including the lettuce they served in their salads. Incredibly fresh and delectable. We had such an amazing time that our group of girls would love to return to Casa Perla Fina again!
