Mill Run Chalet is located on a private unique family farm featuring both the Pigeon River and McClure Creek - secluded with wilderness behind - yet low enough off of Rt. 215 for very easy year round access. The sound of the creek's tumbling water alone at night in all of the bedrooms is enough to soothe the soul ! The chalet has a wonderful large outside deck for dining while listening to the creek, and taking in the fabulous mountain air and scenery.
Lake Logan is a very short drive from Mill Run Chalet and is now open to the public for boating, fishing and swimming. Great news for guests of Mill Run looking for additional recreational activities. To view the video provided of Mill Run Chalet please note the phone number shown on the video has been changed and is now 352-256-9709 Walkers or hikers may be interested to know that easy and pleasant walks abound without having to get into your car. Heading up the unpaved country road along McClure Creek will take you past rolling pastures and creek side homes - some local families and other's summer cottages. Continue to climb the ridge to the left each time the road or trail forks, and you will wind up high above Lake Logan featuring several trails, including the primary one to the left along the top of the ridge ending at a wooden gazebo built in the early 1930's. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just 10 miles up the road with beautiful waterfalls and scenery along the way. Beautiful Downtown Waynesville is a scenic 15 minute drive. Asheville and Biltmore Estate an easy 30 minutes. Mill Run Chalet is located at the foot of Cold Mountain and just outside of the Pisgah National Forest. The downstairs master bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom with walk-in shower. Upstairs has a full/double bed, two twins, and a bathroom with tub/shower combination. 3 BR (1 Queen, 1 Full, 2 Twins), 2 Bath, Fully Equipped Kitchen, Dishwasher, Electric Heat, Air Conditioning , Ceiling Fans, Washer/Dryer, DirectTV Satellite, Flat Screen TV, Wireless Internet Access, Charcoal Grill, Outdoor Campfire Area. The property's name, Mill Run, comes from the early electricity-generating water wheel which stood on the creek just above the ford, supplying local power. The farm bell at the foot of the deck stairs comes from early days in the family's central Florida citrus groves. The Mill Stone is from an old grain mill in the local area. The locomotive bell on the low driveway stone wall was atop an early Southern Railroad engine. The house's interior wormy chestnut was from the original mountain summer house dating from the early 20th century which stood on the same spot. The log cabins on the property were reconstructed here, the fireplace cabin from the old Sunburst Ranch Little East Fork in 1954, and the sleeping cabin from Hungry Creek off Rt 276 in 1963. The hand-hewed and notched poplar logs themselves date from the early 19th century. If the cabin is unoccupied by family during your stay, feel free to use the porch swing, especially to hear the rain on its tin roof ! Mill Run is a gem in these beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina !

Beautiful property! The combination of river and creek noise was great!

The property is beautiful and cabin is nice and clean. Loced where we were located. A couple of great restuarants within 10 miles of the cabin. Quiet and all the ammenties where great. Christina was so helpful leading up too and during our stay.Although no stay or place is perfect it was a great stay and i recommend Mill Run and any of Christina's properties.

Beautiful property and cabin. We absolutely loved it!

Your cabin and surrounding land and creek were just beautiful. We loved falling asleep at night with the windows open to the sound of the creek. Very peaceful and relaxing. Had a great time at fire pit making s'mores. Explored Asheville on Sunday afternoon as well. We would definitely stay at your lovely place again.

Cabin Holiday in the Mountains

We had a lovely stay at the cabin. It is a very cozy place with a great lawn and creek nearby. Lake Logan is a 5 minute drive. A bit dated and may need very inexpensive upgrades.

We will definitely look at staying there again should we holiday in this area.

The property is maintained monthly and the cabin is loaded with authentic "charm" as most other guests have called it, as you can see from the majority of our 5 star reviews. If you wanted a more modern cabin perhaps you did not view the photos of Mill Run. We take pride in the older charm of the cabin which is very difficult to come by these days. Other guests have also enjoyed the fact that you have everything you need there as far as uncluttered amenities. We would recommend taking more time to search the type of property that suits your style and interests. We would hope that it would have the wonderful creek and river to go along with it, as well as the quiet tranquility our property has to offer. Thanks.

Peaceful, long weekend @ the Riverfront Chalet.

My wife and I had a nice, relaxing weekend at this property.

Communication with property manager was short, sweet and efficient.

The inside the house was clean and well appointed. Rather than a rental property with "bare minimums", it's more like an occupied house with at least one of everything. (If you can't find it, you didn't look hard enough) The big yard is more than enough for even the most energetic 4-legged friends.

The creek running through the middle of property is the star of the show and provided the soothing soundtrack for the weekend Our big dog thoroughly enjoyed running amok in the shallow area above the big waterfall.

The Pigeon River frontage serves as more of a backdrop at the edge of the property. I can see this being an amazing spot for fly-fishing. Access/entry could be bit treacherous for the less experienced.

We will try out the other creekside cabin on the property next time we have a need for a rental in the area.

Breathtaking!

If I could rate more than 5 stars, I would. While the house is old, it is very well kept and quite charming! My husband and I just loved the late 1800's feel of the house and the property that surrounds it! On friday night, we enjoyed steak and shrimp on the grill by the fire pit and creek and on Saturday night, we enjoyed hamburgers and beer in the same spot! Maggie Valley/Cherokee is only 30 minutes away. The entrance to the parkway is only 10 minutes. The only problem we had was our inability to figure out the tv remote. The short journey from the couch to the tv was good exercise, plus it was a good reason to walk to the fridge for another beer....Anyway, we LOVED our week end get away at this beautiful home!
