Superb home away from home--in the heart of Umbria

My experience in "Oma Jenny" surpassed all expectations. My host met me at the bus station when I arrived from Rome and accompanied me the short distance to the apartment, whose location is ideal: close to the bus station (for connections to other cities including of course Assisi), to the escalator (scala mobile) to the upper town, to the excellent supermarket at Tre Archi. The apartment was spotless and more beautifully appointed than any similar apartment I've used or visited. Perugia and the surrounding countryside and hill towns are spectacular of course. Highly recommended! I look forward to returning with my wife and, if possibly, our young granddaughter.

A lovely second sojourn in Perugia

I first stayed at Grandma Jenny's in 2016. This year my wife joined me, and we came by train after eight fabulous days in Rome. The original plan was to rent a car in Rome and use Perugia as a base for visits to several hill towns. The cold, snowy weather changed that. We didn't even get to Assisi, and I must say Perugia more than made up for that disappointment. Grandma Jenny's location, near the "scala mobile" and the Tre Archi area with its supermarket and very nice restaurants, is perfect. All the many beautiful districts and monuments were in reach, even in wintry weather, from the "Tempio San'Angelo" in the north to "San Pietro" in the south. The town rewards careful, loving attention, and Grandma Jenny is the place we will always stay when we return.

Lovely apartment, perfect location

The owners' description of the apartment is certainly not exaggerated. Not only is it bright, well-appointed, spotless, filled with books (practice your Italian!) and quiet; from the private garden there is a beautiful view of the tower of San Pietro, one of the two medieval churches I had come to visit (the other was Sant' Angelo, at the other end of the town). The flat is a five-minute walk from the bus terminal at Piazza Partigiani, where I arrived from Rome and departed on a day trip to Assisi. There is of course also bus service from Piazza Partigiani to and from the railway station in addition to good , inexpensive connections to Gubbio, Assisi and many other destinations. The "scala mobile" (moving stairway) to Piazza Italia is across the street from the bus station, and I enjoyed walking up the gradual incline to "Tre Archi" (good supermarket) and on up to the main squares and many beautiful monuments of the town. "Grandma Jenny" will certainly be my home in Umbria when I come back with my wife. I recommend it with great enthusiasm.

General impression - very good

We stayed for 8 days in apartment Granma Jenny, 30 December - 7 January. We are not very young couple. The apartment is very convenient. First of all its location - close to the Perugia Bus Station (about 4 min. walk) and close to the moving staircase to the historical centre of the city. The house is on a fairly busy street but all the windows of the appertment overlook the opposite side, so the apartment is very quiet. The rooms are rather large. The kitchen is not very large but completely equiped. There is also a private garden but we did not use it due to rainy weather. And the heating system deserves a particular evaluation. The level of heating can be programmed for each hour of the day. TV-set, Wi-Fi - all devices runs without claims. In sum we recommend the Granma Jenny apartment for tourists who want to observe Perugia as well as surrounding landmarks and sightseeings (Gubbio, Assisi etc.)

A Gem of an Apartment in a Fantastic City

We had a delightful 3 night stay here in May. Our host Andrea met us at the door, and gave us a warm welcome. He helped us with a lot of useful information, including the correct train station to use to get here. (Perugia Fontivegge) Trenitalia lists this station as “Perugia”. (Along with 5 other Perugia stops) Andrea also recommended L’Officina restaurant to us for dinner, and we had a great dinner there! The apartment is compact, but perfectly laid out for a couple. It has a complete kitchen and a comfortable living room and dining area. All appliances are new and in excellent condition. The bed is very comfortable, and it’s in a quiet location so we slept well. The bathroom was very nice, and the shower worked well. This is a “garden” apartment, but since the building is on a hill it has a lovely view out the back, and from the bedroom. It’s just a few minutes walk from this apartment to the Perugia Old City which is easily accessible thru a set of escalators. Perugia is wonderful place to explore with a rich history. We loved this apartment, and only wished we had plan to stay longer in it. We hope to come back some day. Thank you Andrea!

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, zentral gelegen

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön und sehr gut ausgestattet. Sie war sehr sauber und alles im sehr guten Zustand und ist auch für einen längeren Aufenthalt gut geeignet. Die zentrale Lage war für Ausflüge sehr praktisch, so ist der Busbahnhof in wenigen Minuten erreicht. Auch der Weg zum Bahnhof gestaltet sich problemlos. Wir haben uns der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt und können diese ohne Einschränkungen weiterempfehlen.

Casa molto bella, pulita ed accogliente, completa di tutto. Una vera casa da vivere, con fantastico giardino, molto apprezzato dalla mia cagnolina Lola. Posizione ottima per raggiungere il centro di Perugia a piedi e anche per spostarsi in macchina per raggiungere altre fantastiche località dell'Umbria. We had a wonderful time at this property. Everything was as described and the apartment was clean and comfortable and well stocked with basic amenities. It was located near to the centre of town and the bus station which made getting around quite easy. Andrea was very helpful and responsive when we needed his advice and even offered to drive us to the airport when it looked as if our taxi wasn't going to turn up. Vacanza perfetta: siamo stati cinque giorni mio marito, io e il cane. La sistemazione è perfetta per visitare sia il centro di Perugia che tutte le altre meraviglie dell'Umbria. The best!

Andrea and Miriana were always available when needed and were so attentive. Andrea even printed documents that we needed. The apartment was more completely fitted out than any we have stayed in: breakfast food, oil, vinegar, salt, milk, dishes, pots, pans, dish soap, clothes washing soap, shampoo, body wash, very comfortable beds, even pull-out couch, hot shower, washing machine, plenty of dishes, ease of entry, efficient heating system, plenty of linens, large fridge, very quiet for being on a main street. Location was very good. It would have been helpful to have a work space such as a small table in the bedroom and more food prep space in the kitchen. Also, it would have been useful to be instructed as to which windows needs to be opened 4 times a day to enhance circulation. However, this was the most pleasant stay in Italy we've had thus far and and we've had some good ones. This was our 4th trip. Thanks to Andrea and Miriana for making Jenny Apartment available to us.

Friendly owner, lives in same building, apartment was fine

Andrea kindly picked us up at the train station and drove to the apt. He also kindly supplied us for suggestions of attractions to visit when we were stuck in Perugia due to a train strike. plus breakfast materials were waiting on our first day and he arranged a taxi back to the station.We had a few technical issues with door keys and the laundry machine that he immediately addressed. I can't say enough about the owner who was interested in having his clients be satisfied. The apartment was as advertised, quiet and comfortable. However the lighting, as many European apts we have rented, was quite dim and the bathroom was so filled with equipment it was a tight squeeze. The shower floor needs to be squeezed after each use as it is poorly sloped towards the drain. Its about a 10 minute uphill walk to the supermarket. Perugia's tourist section seems devoid of normal stores, only those catering to tourists exist in the old town, plus the directions and locations of the escalators and mini metro are a big secret as signs are minimal, it took 4 days of constant use to figure them out while we helped lost Italian tourists find them too! I tell you this as the apt is about halfway up the hill from the train station, so you will be using the public escalators a lot on your visit to get to the top of the hill & the old town. Luckily one is about a 5 minute up hill walk from the apt., as is the Bus station from which we took a bus to Assisi .Overall the apt is best for a couple. It will help if your are in good physical condition as Perugia demands this from your legs.

Excellent choix

L'appartement constitue un excellent choix: emplacement privilégié, bonne distribution des pièces, très bien équipé, extrêmement propre et "vivant" au sens où il abrite beaucoup de livres. Le propriétaire nous a bien accueillis et donné qq tuyaux pour se garer, ce qui n'est pas simple dans cette magnifique ville.

Une ville à ne pas oublier

L’appartement est très bien situé assez près du centre historique de Perugia. On a été très bien reçu par le propriétaire et son épouse. Il nous a tout expliquer et a même aider à nous trouver un parking, ce qui n’est pas facile si on na pas envie de payer cher pour le parking. Tout a bien fonctionné dans l’appartement.

Grandma Jenny’s makes visiting Perugia even better!

“Grandma Jenny” is a good place to stay when visiting Perugia—if location is everything, this fits the bill. It’s close to the main bus terminal so getting from the train station is easy. It’s also close to the old center and the escalators make it easy to get way up there. It’s very clean, the queen bed is comfy, good pillows, and the views (from all windows) are open and lovely. Your host, Andrea, lives 2 flights up, but has obvious affection for this apartment. He will greet you and show all the particulars. There is a washer, good heating system, nice shower, all windows will open, and it’s a very safe building. We shopped and prepared several meals in. The kitchen was very adequate. We would definitely stay at Grandma Jenny’s again.

Perugia first experience

The apartment is absolutely ideal for visiting this beautiful city. Andrea is a great host and the apartment was extremely well fitted out. All the amenities were working perfectly with not one hitch to report back. We certainly recommend this apartment estate for a first time visitor as it’s extremely close to all the transportation and the historic centre. We were extremely pleased with our experience..

Appartamentino carino e accogliente

Un appartamento molto carino e accogliente nel centro di Perugia. L'appartamento è dotato di tutto, addirittura quando siamo arrivati c'erano dei pacchi di biscotti per fare la colazione! Il proprietario molto molto gentile, è stato disponibilissimo! Purtroppo siamo dovuti partire prima perché al bimbo è salita la febbre molto alta, però torneremo di sicuro!

We were born in Perugia and we love our beatiful town. We have recently got and renovated a new apartment from our grandma Jenny, where we used to live until a few years ago. We thought that we might like to host you, if you decide to come here for turism, visiting relatives and friends, studying or working for a short period of time.

I (Andrea) was born here! At a later stage, I lived here for seven years and when Miriana and I met, this was our first apartment. Therefore, we think that this is a very special place!
