Like any mechanical system, air conditioning equipment can fail unexpectedly despite routine maintenance. When we were notified, we immediately contacted our HVAC contractor and kept you informed throughout the process and it was up and cooling within 24 hours of your first call. Regarding your request for compensation, our policy is to evaluate refunds after the stay once all facts, repair reports, and timelines have been reviewed. This ensures that every guest is treated fairly and consistently, rather than making decisions in the moment without complete information. As for the locked closets and owner’s storage areas, these are disclosed as owner storage spaces and are common in many vacation rental homes. The home still provides ample storage for guests during their stay. We appreciate your replacing the smoke detector battery after notifying us. Had you submitted the receipt, we would have gladly reimbursed that expense. While we regret that your stay ended with an unforeseen mechanical issue, we believe our team responded appropriately under the circumstances and remained committed to resolving the problem as quickly as possible. We were happy to host you and wish you all the best in your future travels.

Your review does not accurately reflect the experience at our property, and appears to be an attempt for cpmpensation. We encourage future guests to read all reviews of our property to get a balanced understanding of this beautiful home and its amenities. We are committed to providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all our guests. Regarding the issues you listed in your review: Hot Water: Our maintenance team responded promptly, installed a brand new tankless water heater system, and restored the hot water in less than 24 hours. Door Lock: our maintenance team replaced the lock within two hours of your arrival and confirmed the new lock to be functioning correctly. Cleanliness and Pests: Our property undergoes regular professional cleaning and pest control. The property was cleaned a mere two hours prior to your arrival. Pest control is preventative and is on a monthly schedule to ensure no interruptions to our guest schedule. We have no prior or post reports of any cleanliness or pest issues. Pool Guard System: Our pool safety systems are inspected weekly, in between each stay, and were found to be in working order during your stay. Management Response: Our property manager, Mike, addressed your concerns promptly and followed-up as agreed. We understand that sometimes things don't go as planned, and we are always glad to hear from guests when a genuine issue arises. However, it appears there is a misunderstanding. We have documented communications showing multiple requests for compensation were made despite our immediate resolution of issues with the hot water and door lock. This is a retaliatory reviews and VRBO has been notified. We appreciated the report of the two genuine issues, and the opportunity to remedy these concerns. Future owners: We reviewed this guest before we received the report from housekeeping with additional charges and pictures of the aftermath. (They would of received a 1 star. We assumed with amount of communication they would not purposely have left this property in such poor condition. So future owners and PM beware) Upon your departure we found the state of the property to be deplorable. The owners closet is clearly labeled, locked, and not for guest access. Upon your departure it was found to have been opened forcefully, and our owners’ private supplies removed. Trash and food waste was strewn throughout this beautiful property, in all the rooms. The custom sunshade blinds were physically torn down from the wall leaving drywall damage in Master bedroom, and no way to remedy for our next guest stay. The drywall in our stairwell was also damage and wall paint was chipped from the wall. Our cleaning crew spent an 90 additional minutes at this property to remediate the mess. We have been in contact with VRBO regarding compensation for the damages and additional cleaning. We will not host your family/friend group again at any of our properties.

Our sincere apologies for the pet hair, and as you mentioned in your review, we did offer numerous times to send our cleaning staff back to the house to clean more thoroughly. For future rentals (and others reading this review) Our properties are advertised as “not allowing pets”, but NOT as “pet free”. For those with severe allergies, such as your family members experience, it is important to note the state of North Carolina strictly enforces vacation property rental laws which state properties cannot restrict stays for, nor discriminate against, those with service animals. We allow service animals in our properties, by law. We enjoyed hosting you!
