Our visit to the estate Our Istria could not have been better. The location is fantastic, hidden away from main roads, neighbors and the daily life in Croatia but very close to visit things like a village, restaurant or the beach when you are keen on going there.
The ambiance of the house does not need more explanation than the pictures. A lovely house with all authentic details and a wonderful and colorful large garden in where you can sit on different places and even have a walk through.
Marin and Ariella, the owners of the house, know exactly how to treat their visitors and made us feel very special during our stay.
For us Our Istria is a second home to spend quality time with our family and children.
What a warm welcome Ariella and Marin gave us when we arrived at this place close-to-paradise! Everything was prepared to make us feel at home. The house is clean, fully equipped, everything is in really good condition or obviously new. The house is a treasure. Situated between green woods and fields, surrounded by even greener lawns (sprinklers doing their work at night) and flowers. A beautiful terrace in front of the main door and kitchen from where you have beautiful views and a second sheltered and very cosy one on the first floor with virgin stone walls and as everything in this house beautifully decorated.
About 5 km from the house is Hum - called the smallest town in the world - a place worth visiting, buying snapps and other things made with truffels and having dinner at the only restaurant there. To Opatija and the eastern coast it takes about 45 minutes and 10 € for road toll (round trip), to Porec and Rovinji it takes about 1 1/2 hours. Both coasts are perfect for swimming, sunbathing or snorkling. The western one is more family friendly the eastern one kind of classy with 19th century villas and hotels.
Yes we liked it.
I was overwhelmed with peace and quietness in Istria, the surrounding was magical, so neat and tidy, full of beautiful flowers and trees and birds all around. The house was very cosy yet comfortable and spacious. I definitely plan to come back next year.
We had the most fabulous 2 week holiday at Nasa Istra. We arrived late evening and were warmly welcomed by Ariela and Marin (who live in another village and kindly drove through to greet us) with delicious soup, homemade cakes and Istrian biska. They were both so helpful and provided very welcome assistance before leaving us to enjoy our holiday. This was our first visit to Croatia and Istria did not disappoint. The villa is ideally situated to visit hilltop villages, mountain and woodland trails as well as both east and west coasts of the Istria peninsula. There is even a konoba (small restaurant) within walking distance of the villa. The villa itself has all you need, WiFi, washing machine, TV and DVD player without losing its character. The garden is the main attraction, a good size with scope for badminton and other games. The garden itself contains fabulous flowers and shrubs as well as a vegetable plot (which our hosts let us sample) with potatoes, courgettes, lettuce and radishes - terrific! There was even a table tennis table and we spent many an evening improving our game here. Ariela and Marin were helpful and discrete hosts throughout our stay. We took up their offer to meet up at their boat in Icici and had a wonderful afternoon/evening with them exploring Kvarner Bay - a real highlight! I would highly recommend anyone seeking peace and quiet in a magnificent setting to try Nasa Istra.
One of the most delightful properties to stay at. This character stone cottage has been tastefully renovated and faithfully restored with all the modern comforts added. With a lovely collection of antiques and paintings and interesting historical curios, this two storey house is a delight to stay in. Comfortable, modern but rustic and charmingly country and if the house isn't enough, you should see the gardens. The photos cannot do them justice.
I loved to stroll on all the levels of the rambling gardens admiring the annuals, perennials and fruit trees. One of our highlights was going to the vegetable garden and picking the evening's salad supplies, then sitting outside admiring the vista or inside enjoying the rustic ambience or on the terrace with it's beautiful and secluded panoramic view. Oh, this was the hardest decision of the day:))
This property was a delightful place to rest surrounded by the Istris's surreal countryside. A most peaceful experience.
Ariela and Marin were exceptional hosts, welcoming, warm and friendly. Then they added to our stay a welcome surprise, a traditional Istrian soup with fresh bread and wine served on their finest china and crystal. Can life get better?
The price was a little high, but the quality was high too and quality does come at a price.
Ariela and Marin, you have done an amazing job, we loved our stay.
Nasa Istra is everything promised and more. The home is spacious, clean and comfortable. The yard and outdoor area is beautiful. Everything is in good working order and it is obvious the home is well loved and cared for by its owners.
Marin and Ariela are warm and gracious hosts. The meal they had for us upon our arrival was delicious and so welcome after a long drive through the rain that day. They offered us lots of tips for what to do and see in the area and were available 24 hours a day should we need anything. Luckily, we never had to take them up on that offer.
The house is somewhat remote, but over the course of our week long stay, we visited a lot of the nearby attractions including Hum, Motovun, Groznjan, Opatia and Roc. What we enjoyed most though was just relaxing at the house. It was quiet and peaceful. We played a lot of ping pong and badminton and my son had fun hunting lizards.
I would highly recommend Nasa Istra to any family looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy some time together.
Unser Haus liegt in der Mitte von Istrien, 8 km von der Stadt Buzet. Es ist weit weg von der städtischen Hektik und nur 25 km von dem Adriatischen Meer entfernt.
