Beautiful Location

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your Norris Lake Home. The distant views of the Lake from the deck was spectacular at sunrise and sunset. We also enjoyed the cattle in the rear field and got to witness the birth of a calf.

The home was perfectly appointed, clean and with all necessary amenities. Being close to the town of Jacksboro and the SuperWalmart was key for last minute needs.

The walk down to the lake was challenging, but worth the walk to the clear and very private lake cove. Next time, I will come in better shape!

My son trained by running up and down your sloped driveway in preparation for the start of his senior year in HS football.

It was a perfect get away for my family to come together and enjoy time with each other.

Mountains and lake view is exactly what we wanted and this place did not disappoint! The home was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Beau was great to work with and any questions we had he was right on it.

Vermieter-Kommentar: Dear Mrs. Judge, I cannot express my happiness with your review. We are planning major improvements to the trail to the lake. I am going to build a sand beach at the lake side, install a rope swing that swings from a large oak into the cove. Finally we are going to work on the road to the cove. by increasing the radius of the turns, putting a crown on the road to decrease the rivulets and improve the drainage. I also hope to be able to line the road with tree logs so that there is a safety barrier. Beau King

Great property, beautiful view

The home and property was nice but difficult to get to the water. A Utv was provided but still sketchy riding it on the steep trail. We weren't very pleased that there wasn't a dock or really anywhere to sit by the water either. Not recommended for the elderly. The marina was a two minute boat ride away which was nice but 20 minutes by car. If you bring a boat you will want to dock it at the marina. We tied it up to two trees in the cove a couple nights until we were able to get a slip at the marina. Tieing the boat up in the cove was not very handy and a little difficult. The home however has a gorgeous view from the deck and everything was very nice and clean.

Vermieter-Kommentar: The home on 200 acres is not for everyone or the faint of heart. There are stunning mountain vistas and steep rolling hills. The water in our cove drops off to deep water quickly. The Mule should not be operated while drinking. The first time down the road you will need to go slow and get used to the Mule and the road which is sometimes more like a trail. The road is steep in places and has switch backs that can require backing up. We do frequent grading of the road with a bulldozer but erosion has prevented it from being widened out on some switch backs. The land is for people who don't want to be in a subdivision, who like seclusion, exercise, nature, 21 Century internet office services and a very comfortable, clean home. We are on a peninsula surrounded by 120+ foot tall trees, all the wildlife we have been able to preserve and water. Not only the lake but there are springs that are seeping out of the mountain. The springs and frequent rainfall can make the road/trail muddy and slick. I keep our boat in the cove but some times I have to dive down to retrieve the anchor. I like to hike the road and swim the cove and lake to keep fit. My wife will have none of it and only likes to ride the Mule. I like flying my plane into the Jacksboro Airport but it often takes extreme caution flying into the mountains with low storm clouds rolling in. There is a public boat launch less than a mile away and another marina that is 4 miles from the property at 744 Indian Rive Boat Dock Road.

House was great, the lake is too far!

We loved the house, it was very comfortable and had a lot of amenities. We only drove the mule 2 times down to the cove because it was extremely scary and dangerous. We were disappointed because we loved the cove, it was beautiful and peaceful but the walk was a bit much. I emailed the owner a number of times to ask for instructions on how to get into the house with no relies. We assumed that the house would be open which is was not. Once we arrived and realized that we could not get in, we called and texted the number that we had, sent e-mails but got no responses. Luckily we went to a neighbor and they had a phone number and we were able to get the code. I don't know what we would have done if not for the helpful neighbor. I never received a response from the owner regarding my calls, texts and emails.

Great floor plan, plenty of space - rough getting to the lake.

This was our 1st time at Norris. We really enjoyed the lake. The water is emerald green, clear and just beautiful! The landscape around the cove and the entire lake it really gorgeous - rock formations that you can climb and jump from, ledges that you can sit on....really pretty landscape. The house has a great floor plan - MBR on the first floor with 3 large bedrooms and a full bath upstairs. The décor was really lovely - great decorations and really nice furniture. The beds are WONDERFUL memory foam mattresses!!! The kitchen is well equipped with every small appliance you will need. The washer/dryer were awesome! Those are the positives.....we were comfortable during our stay but did have a few concerns upon arrival. The inside of the house looks like it is currently being updated - there were some spots in the walls where they had filled with drywall compound and not yet painted, baseboards that were missing, areas where the paint had not been trimmed in, the downstairs bathroom has doorways where the framing is still showing, no drywall. There is also no lock on the downstairs bathroom doors. Nothing that will keep you from having a great vacation, but we have never stayed in a place that was being updated during the rental season, so it was a bit of a surprise.

Lake access was our biggest concern, which I did express to Beau before arrival. 3 of our group were 75 and older. They were not able to get in the water from the property. We also had a 3 & 5 yr old. It was difficult getting them to the waterfront too. The owner does provide a Mule to get down to the water, but it is not an easy drive. There are many winding turns, very inclined, and once you get to the bottom, you have to park the mule, walk to the end of the path and then climb down a rocky hill to actually get to the waterfront. Carrying all of your floats and beach bags is not easy, and there was no way to get the older people to the water. They did not get to swim in the cove during our entire stay. Our children, grandchildren, my husband and I, really enjoyed the cove swimming. It is private and really beautiful. There is no actual dock structure, but a large Ifloat that the owner provides. You cannot walk/stand on it, but you can lay on it. The problem is taking it to/from the waterfront every day.....not an easy task.

All in all, for the price - this was a good deal, we would have liked a more easily accessible waterfront for the people in our group.

Beautiful River view

House was in nice quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the view from the balcony. Due to trees in the path to lake, we weren't able to get to the lake until two days before we left. However, we did rent a boat from one of the marinas and took in some beautiful scenery on the lake. We also enjoyed watching the ground hogs come out and play in the front yard. Nice place to get away from "life".
