Dunkeld Cottage ist ein Cottage im Schokoladenkistenstil in einer wunderschönen dörflichen Umgebung - ideal für Ausflüge in den Lake District! Das Cottage verfügt über beeindruckende Holzbalken und originalgetreue Elemente. Alles ist darauf ausgelegt, Ihren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Das Haus stammt aus dem Jahr 1820 und wurde dennoch äußerst gepflegt und gepflegt - mit allem Komfort! Die Küche / Frühstücksraum ist besonders schön und hat einen schönen Blick auf den Garten und ist sehr geräumig. Alle Geräte, die Sie benötigen könnten, sind hier - einschließlich integrierter Spülmaschine, Kühl- / Gefrierschrank, Waschmaschine, Wäschetrockner, Slow Cooker und natürlich ein Kochfeld und ein Doppelbackofen. Es gibt ein geräumiges und gemütliches Wohn- / Esszimmer mit einem wirklich beeindruckenden Kamin, Holzbalkendecken, bequemen Sofas, einem Fernseher mit zahlreichen digitalen Kanälen, superschnellem WLAN und einem Schreibtisch mit Broschüren zur Umgebung und weiteren Sitzgelegenheiten. Im ersten Stock befinden sich zwei Doppelzimmer, die durchgehend herrliche Holzbalken aufweisen und sehr charmant sind. Das Hauptschlafzimmer verfügt über ein Zustellbett - oder es kann in zwei Einzelbetten umgewandelt werden - ideal für Familien. Das zweite Schlafzimmer hat ein Doppelbett und beide Schlafzimmer haben viel Stauraum für Ihre Kleidung und persönliche Gegenstände. Es gibt auch ein Badezimmer mit Badewanne - ideal für ein sprudelndes Bad nach einem langen Spaziergang durch den Lake District! Der Garten ist komplett eingezäunt und privat und es gibt viel Platz für Ihre Fahrräder - und wahrscheinlich auch etwas anderes wie ein Kanu usw. - fragen Sie uns einfach! Wir lieben die Tatsache, dass Ullswater ca. 15 Autominuten von der Hütte entfernt ist. Unser Lieblingsausflugstag ist ein Tagesausflug entlang des Ullswater Way, kombiniert mit einer Bootsfahrt entlang des Sees und etwas zu essen in Pooley Bridge oder Patterdale. Die Pennines sind jedoch auch die Kulisse des Hauses. Wenn Sie sich von den Menschenmassen fernhalten möchten, die sich im Sommer manchmal ansammeln, ist ein herrlicher Spaziergang durch das Pennine-Land genau das Richtige für Sie! Ebenso ist Keswick nur eine relativ kurze, landschaftlich reizvolle Autofahrt entfernt - wir empfehlen eine Bootsfahrt, eine Wanderung auf die berühmten Cat Bells, gefolgt von einem Mittagessen oder Abendessen in einem Pub im fantastischen Stadtzentrum. Es gibt so viel zu tun - Sie müssen immer wieder kommen, um mehr zu tun! :)

Perfect stay in a lovely property

We have just returned from a 5 day stay at this lovely property. The accommodation was exactly as advertised and had a lovely welcoming and cosy feeling. The area is very quiet and we were able to switch off and relax. We would 100% return and saty here again next time we are in the area.

Lovely Break

Cottage was lovely…… all the comforts of home. Very cosy and within reach of lots of good places to eat & explore The Lakes! (We also loved looking at the pictures by the owner which are on display in the property!)

Great cottage stay in the Lake District

The four of us had a wonderful stay in Dunkeld Cottage. The stone cottage was lovely - though the two tall men had to learn to duck at the kitchen door! The living spaces and bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was fantastic, with top-quality Siemens stove top and oven, a good dishwasher and much appreciated washer and dryer. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils to make cooking easy. There was salt, pepper, sugar and tea. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Penrith had a wide choice of large supermarkets, from Morrisons to Aldi, and there was also a village store 2 houses down with well stocked shelves and a very helpful shopkeeper. The host gave useful hints for traveling before our stay. We enjoyed the garden during a brief moment of sun! On our last evening we walked down to the Eden River and followed it along through cow pastures and footpathsWe enjoyed walking around Kirkby Thore and also found the location to be a good one for trips to Derwentwater and Ullswater sights - don't miss Aira Force waterfall!

3 stars seems a perfectly fair summary for this property.

There was plenty that was good and overall it fully met our needs - but not our expectations (which were founded on the five star reviews and expectedly flattering photos and so were perhaps unrealistic / unwise). There are plenty of good points: • Chloe is exceptionally professional: pleasant, efficient and easy to deal with • The property is well equipped overall - especially electrical items and the new bath / shower • Location, space, ease of access and essential comforts are all good • On balance it’s fair value But • the overall state of repair is only adequate and clearly in decline (recent reviews raise niggles which have only been partially addressed). • First impressions are not good at all - the outside - doors, windows, gate, locks are all in a bad state. (perhaps this tainted our view) • Inside also needs much more care - several minor fixes, a new main bed (the divan’s falling apart - with discarded 3 pieces of wood / shelves under the mattress to presumably, compensate for broken parts), a fair degree of refreshment (repainting +), a clearout of the kitchen (replace several pans that are scratched or have wobbly handles etc, and a decent declutter) • The smell – not sure what this was, possibly a dead mouse under the floor boards? And there was definitely also a smell of dogs on the furniture. Scented candles and Febreze got us through, but this added significantly to the sense of more care being needed. • WiFi is poor Overall the place feels uncared for - which rather clashes with the presentation as sharing someone else’s holiday home. I’d suggest the owners would do well to spend a couple of weeks living here, which would surely open their eyes to all the minor issues and ensure they are addressed for future residents.

Hi Nicola, many thanks for taking the time to review our cottage. You stayed late July and unfortunately due to lockdown we had not been able to visit the property for a while. We stayed in the cottage for 2 weeks in August and totally gave the cottage an overhaul and have since had glowing reviews again from all recent guests on other sites. The cottage has been decorated throughout and is totally refreshed and smelling lovely! I will note that the WiFi is Fibre and my husband is a website designer, so I'm not sure if there was a problem when you were there but he wouldn't have been able to do his job if the WiFi was poor!! The bed situation has been resolved - the wooden slats were not there to replace broken parts, merely that the floor slopes in the main bedroom (please remember it is an old cottage!!) so we've added these to level it up. The bed was bought only a few years ago and the problem has been that where it splits into two to make twin beds the housekeeper wasn't attaching the beds at the back when they were swapped from twins back into a superking - she hadn't realised how uncomfortable it makes the bed. I've now made her aware of this. We stayed in this bed and agree it was very uncomfortable until we worked out what the problem was. When it is put together properly it is our favourite bed and very comfy - as other reviews will testify. We now have two new sofas in the property and we have spent the two weeks fixing all the repairs that were needed and as I say, have had glowing reviews since. I'm sorry you didn't have a perfect experience but I'm glad you still enjoyed your holiday. Best regards, Chloe

Gorgeous cottage with everything you could need

Thanks so much Chloe for having us all to stay. You are a great host, very helpful and always on hand. The cottage is lovely, very spacious and the garden is completely private and enclosed. Kitchen cupboards are full of anything you could possibly need which is really helpful.

A lovely little break

We spent 3 nights at the cottage and had a wonderful time. The instructions prior to arrival were great including details of a more scenic route. Key access was easy and the welcome folder was a very good idea. The cottage had all the facilities we required for me and my young family. Definitely would recommend.

A lovely warm and welcoming cottage with a cosy kitchen. However the bed in the main bedroom was extremely soft and as a result uncomfortable. We couldn't get either of the TVs to work and the bathroom window leaked.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like the bed in the main bedroom - it is one of our highlights as most guests find it super comfortable and it's mentioned as such in a lot of reviews. I'm sorry to hear about the TV - it just needed re-tuning which has been done now and it's linked to the TV in the kitchen which is why that one didn't work either. Lovely cottage in quiet village.

This is a lovely cottage with tasteful decor. Easy parking on quiet street, near local shop. Would have scored full marks but for a few niggles. Lights in the bathroom were dead and bulbs needed replacing. Damaged bedroom furniture drawers. Kitchen TV not receiving signal. Oven door not closing fully due to bad fitting. An upgrade of some facilities would make this place a real gem.

Lovely little cottage

We had a lovely stay in Dunkeld Cottage. Communication with Chloe, the owner, was easy and she responded quickly to any questions we had. The cottage is cosy and very clean and we were provided with a cot and highchair for our 8 month old. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need and there is plenty of room to eat in there too. The garden is small but fine for the children to play with their toys in. The location is good if you want access to the Lakes, Dales and Pennines by car but we did not explore Kirkby Thore itself. There was plenty of information about things to do in the area - someone had even left tickets of somewhere they had been as it was an ticket that could be used again. What a good idea! All in all, we had a lovely stay at the cottage and would definitely recommend it for couples and small families.

We have just returned from a fab long weekend in Dunkeld cottage. We took our 3 month old baby and little dog and it was great for our little family. It’s just off the main road that takes you into the heart of the lakes but far enough away that you would never even know the traffic was there! The cottage has everything you could possibly need.

Perfect place to stay

What a lovely home from home. My partner and I stayed here for the 3 nights to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and it was just perfect, everything we wanted it to be. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, the house is decorated perfectly to suit your surroundings. There is a little space at the back with a grandfather clock and a little fluffy sheep which my partner and I just adored, there is just something about that area that makes you feel calm, you will know what I mean when you see it. The shower and bath are both great, bed is unbelievably comfortable. No complaints about anything. Thanks for having us, I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

Dunkeld Cottage

We spent two magnificent weeks in the Dunkeld Cottage. The house is so lovely and very comfortable. All the household appliances are in the cottage (washing machine; dishwasher..) We liked very much the style. The cottage is located in the Lake District (very nice region) and less than two hours , you can reach Liverpool Manchester Newcastle the Scotland and the fabulous Hadrian's wall Nous avons passé deux semaines magnifiques à Dunkeld Cottage dans une maison typique et très confortable. Nous avons adoré le style de la maison. La maison est très bien équipée (lave vaisselle, machine à laver). Dunkeld Cottage est situé dans la magnifique région de Lake District et à moins de deux heures de voitures il est possible de rejoindre l'Ecosse, Manchester, Liverpool Newcastle et le fabuleux mur d'Hadrien Abbiamo passato due settimane in Dunkeld Cottage in una casa molto comoda e tipica. Ci è piaciuto lo stile della casa. La casa è bene dotata (lavatrice, lavastoviglie). Dunkeld Cottage si trova nella meravigliosa regione di Lake District. E a meno di due ore di macchina è possibile raggiungere le città di Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, la Scozia e il favoloso sito del muro di Adriano

Beautiful cottage

Just back from a great few days, the cottage is exactly how it looks on the photos, lovely! The fire is fantastic, even though the cottage was very warm we still enjoyed sitting next to the traditional fire place. I will be recommending the cottage to friends and family.

My name is Chloe Hibberd and my husband and I fell in love with the Lakes within a year or so of meeting each other and ended up visiting it so many times that eventually we decided we'd love to own and run a holiday cottage in this wonderful part of the country. Having stayed in so many holiday lets ourselves, we really feel as though we know what makes a great holiday and are truly committed to making sure our guests have the best holiday ever! At the end of the day, we know how we all have to work hard to afford our holidays, so we feel it's the responsibility of the holiday home owner to ensure that those precious days don't disappoint!

Dunkeld Cottage really is a super cute cottage and we fell in love with it. It's detached (albeit by a whisper!) and has a beautiful open plan lounge into the dining room and is full of beamed ceilings and hidden quirky corners! The cottage dates back to 1820 and yet has been extremely well maintained and looked after - with all the mod cons! We particularly love the kitchen/breakfast room which has lovely views over the garden and is very spacious. All of the appliances you could need are here - including integral dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and of course a hob and double oven. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, again, boasting glorious beams throughout and are very charming. There is also a bathroom with a bath - ideal for a bubbly soaking after a long Lake District walk! The garden is fully enclosed and private and there is plenty of room for you to bring your bikes - and probably anything else like a canoe etc.. - just ask us! We love the fact that Ullswater is around a 15 minute scenic drive from the cottage - we got married on the shores of Lake Ullswater, so it is particularly memorable for us. But equally, the Pennines are the backdrop of the cottage, and if you want to head away from the crowds that can sometimes gather in the summer, then a delightful stroll around Pennine country may be just what you need!

We love the fact the cottage is within easy reach of the Lake District and Pennines, is doggie-friendly with a totally enclosed rear garden. It ticks all the boxes for us, we hope it does for you too!
