Die einzigartigen Lofts befinden sich in den oberen beiden Etagen eines 100 Jahre alten Steinhauses. This property was extremely nice and accommodating. It's downtown within walking distance of some nice cafes and restaurants as well as an outdoor shop for rock climbers. The unit also had netflix, hbo max and apple tv pre installed and paid for (IDK if that was from a previous visitor or if its a feature) but it was awesome!

Great place to stay!

Fantastic place to stay...

This property could not have been better! The owners went the extra mile to provide for the comfort and happiness of their guests. Superb stay!

We stayed the weekendvin the Nuttal flat and thoroughly enjoyed it. The furnitue was both colorful and comfortable surrounded by interesting artwork and funky eclectic touches. We had excellent mesls at Dioges (latin food) and breakfast (to die for blueberry pancakes) at the Cathedral Cafe. Enjoyed hiking and exploring the area. Amy and Sean put a lot of thought and effort into creating a quite memorable place. Oh, I also should mention best shower of my life followed by a luxurios soak by candlelight the next day in the big clawfoot tub.

Best place to stay in Fayetteville

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lafayette Flats. We actually stayed in Eddy (originally booked Nutall but then switched to be on the top floor). The flat was spacious, immaculately clean (I’m pretty picky), and really comfortable. We enjoyed the provided coffee packs and supplies, appreciated the book of recommendations and information, and loved being right in town to walk to pretty much everything. Check in and check out processes were seamless, the stairs weren’t a problem for us (good workout!), and parking was easy and convenient. Amy was so easy to reach if we had any questions, and we could not have asked for a better place to stay in the are. Highly recommend!

city chic in a very cool small town

Our family of four stayed in the Nuttall. It was perfectly located within walking distance to pretty much every restaurant in Fayetteville. The building and flat are beautifully renovated. The flat was expertly designed to function perfectly and the fact that it was only 600 square feet never even occurred to us. The layout easily accommodated us and all the gear we needed for the AWESOME adventures we had in and around the New River Gorge. You could not be closer or more convenient to the Gorge. A truly memorable stay in an incredible vacation location!

Quick Getaway

Me and my wife decided we needs a quick getaway and decided to try Layette Flats and glad we did. The location was easy to find and owners were great to deal with. The location was walking distance to multiple restaurants and shops. The location was also a few minutes drive to any of the whitewater or zip line excursions. What we liked the most about our room was the level of detail in the décor. It was neat to see the various elements of the room. Each day seemed like we found some new decoration that blended into the room. If you are looking for something beyond the boring hotel room, this is it.

Cute flat in small town near the bridge

The flat itself is very clean and well-decorated. It feels artistic but also cozy. It's located on one of the blocks adjacent to the one stoplight downtown, across from the courthouse. There's a few restaurants (and many shops) that easy to walk to. Overall, it was very quaint and quiet. Most importantly, the flat is fewer than ten minutes away from many hiking trails and the bridge itself. It's a great place to stay for a getaway. One minor note is that we found the bed to be a bit small (maybe it's a full; I'm used to a queen) and the mattress a bit uncomfortable (it's not hard, but it's not plush). That may or may not make a difference for you.

Very Cool Place to Stay

I had seen lots of photos online, but you really have to see this flat to appreciate it. The art throughout the building and "Nuttall" was amazing - truly unique pieces, give you the feeling that you're in a funky yet classy gallery. I loved the high ceilings, and the huge bedroom. One of our children happily slept on one of the 2 futon lounges, while the other used the sofa bed in the living room. The king bed was extremely comfortable, and the linens top notch. I swear the towels in the enormous bathroom were the softest I've ever felt. There were games, books, and a lovely welcome basket. We met the owners Amy and Shawn, and they were (naturally) as charming and interesting as Lafayette Flats. What a fabulous job they did on this building! We didn't use the kitchen to cook in, but appreciated the full size fridge for our breakfast and lunch foods. We ate at Gumbo and Pies & Pints, and there are a few other restaurants we'll have to try the next time we come!

Zu Gast bei Amy McLaughlin & Shawn Means

I'm Amy and my husband's name is Shawn. We were both born and raised in Charleston, WV, where we still live and we both work for the same non-profit organization. Charleston is only about one hour from Fayetteville, so lucky for us, the best vacation spot in West Virginia is close by.

Lafayette Flats began with our simple desire to get out of town. We found out early in our relationship that we travel together well and we love to do it as often as we can. We love taking weekend driving trips to places like Asheville, Columbus, Charlotte and Louisville, and we've been all over our home state of West Virginia.

Many years ago we drove across the country on Route 66 and last fall we toured Northern California - Yosemite, Redwoods, Wine Country - we loved it all. But big trips are few and far between, so we satisfy our travelin' Jones by making the drive up to Fayetteville as often as we can.

Maybe it's the Bacon Jam at The Secret Sandwich Society or the breathtaking views from Long Point Trail, but something keeps us coming back again and again. We looked for a small apartment in Fayetteville that we could rent, just to have a home base where we could escape to on weekends but found nothing suitable.

After months of searching, we decided to take on a project where we could build our own space. We looked at several opportunities, but the one that caught our eye was the historic building on the corner of Court Street and Wiseman Avenue - known as 'The Malcolm Building.' This building was built in 1906 to house The Bank of Fayette and is on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Fayetteville's Historic District.

We spent the summer and fall of 2013 renovating the building - doing much of the work ourselves. We are eager to show off our space!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

Our love for Fayetteville and the New River Gorge area caused us to something we had never done before: We bought and renovated this historic cut stone building, transforming the top two floors into four apartment style vacation rentals. Nuttall is one of four flats in the building.

Since it is on the Historic Registry, we were very intentional in our renovation plan to leave the building intact as much as possible. Originally built to be an office building, each floor only had one common bathroom and the heating in the building was hot water radiators. Since it was built before electricity, the electrical system was a hodgepodge of makeshift circuits and ancient fuse boxes.

Along with these negatives, though, were a lot of positives: The beautiful original woodwork is still there and the fortress-like construction means that the building is very sturdy. The beautiful cut-stone exterior looks exactly like it did when it was built a century ago.

Our renovation plans preserved the woodwork and the basic configuration of the building. Installing a new electrical system and the plumbing necessary to support two additional bathrooms and kitchens was done in such a way as not to change the character of the building. Fire codes made us make some alterations to doorways, but overall the building looks as it has for the last century.

In spite of the ancient spaces of this small town's former bank building, the interior design is chic, modern and urban. We want to offer visitors to Fayetteville something completely different from the campsites, cabins and large vacation home rentals available in the area. Furnished with all the comforts of home and decorated to the nines with local original art and many unique design elements, this is not your typical vacation rental!
