The apartment is ideally situated to explore Bernkastel-Keus and the surrounding area. The rooms are large and the living room has fabulous views of the Mosel river. The beds are comfortable although we all struggled with the pillows which were not supportive enough. There are two bathrooms but only one has shower and bathing facilities and this wasn't quite as clear as we would have liked in the description/photos. In addition, the 'en-suite bathroom' only had cold water so not very practical for use for washing. The apartment is lovely, but in need of updating. For example, the kitchen is adequate for very simple cooking but the waste bin lid was broken and so the waste in the bin attracted flies and after a few days it was getting smelly in the hot weather. There was no bin for recycling so we created our own receptacle. Some of the window hinges are also in need of maintenance. It would have been nice to have another set of keys and some information in the apartment about basic things like bin collection and some USB plugs. Finally, there is no air conditioning. Leaving the windows open helps but the apartment is right on the main road through town and there was traffic all night, especially early morning, so it was very disturbing. Most of the time we were too hot during the night when we stayed in late June.Overall our impression was the owner's attitude was, "it's only a holiday let so we don't need to do much". A real shame, as it could have been fabulous.
