The ARK Barndominium Getaway

Fred assembled The Ark with his own hands by repurposing materials from the old farm, including the black locust fencing, used for the open kitchen cabinets and the large wooden chairs.

The red oak open shelves mounted on the walls were from the dividers in between the horse stalls. The rough sawn ship-lapped hardwood boards were harvested from a nearby sawmill.

The wood top tables were sliced from a silver maple tree taken from the farmhouse with the wrap-around porch across the valley, where Fred's great-grandparents raised 9 children, and what became known as Hicks' Holler.

Grandmother Hicks used to holler down the valley with a "yoo-hoo" to the grandchildren at play when it was time to come for lunch and a nap, or dinner time.

So just maybe in the quiet still of the day you may hear her from afar calling you to the table and she might ask you to pray.
