The immediate local area in and around Broadalbin, Mayfield, and Northville are quiet and quaint. There are many small mom-and-pop shops and restaurants to explore scattered throughout the area.



The Great Sacandaga Lake itself is a hidden gem at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It covers 42 square miles and is about 29 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is simply wonderful for all sorts of water sports like fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing during the summer, and for ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and skiing in the winter!



If you like to eat out, there are a number of small local places and some options for great lakefront dining. Or, you can stay in and use the gas grill or fully equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals and have your own private lakefront dining experience on the large deck or down on the 50' of private beach overlooking Sand Island.



If golf is on your agenda, there are a couple of small public golf courses within a 15-20 minute drive, and then there is the award winning Saratoga National Golf Club and the Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course just 22 miles away in Saratoga Springs.



Saratoga also offers the famous Saratoga Raceway (the major horse racing season runs from late July - early September) as well as a huge variety of concerts and performances at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) and other local theaters. Downtown Saratoga also has a great many places to shop and eat as well.

Note that we have neighbors immediately on either side of the house and the area is primarily occupied by families with children. As such, quiet hours start at 10 pm and it is not a suitable place for hosting parties or large events.
