The room was clean. Great location for walking to Mackinaw sites. Beautiful public beach overlooking Mackinaw bridge a few minutes walk from motel. The toilet paper holder is broken and the mini-blinds are broken, patched with bobby pins and a paper towel. Both would be easy fixes and go a long way.Check-in at 4 p.m. We arrived shortly after 4 p.m.and the hospitality staff had just started cleaning the room. We waited for around 45 minutes for her to finish.

Perfect location, right downtown Mackinaw city. Walking distance from multiple sandy public beaches, restaurants and everything. Carpets and shower mold were pretty gross. Fortunately we weren't in the room much and brought our own bedding. Seems like a small investment from the owners in updating their rooms and they could probably double the prices and be sold out significantly more once ratings increase. Okay at best for the price I suppose. Next time I'll pay more elsewhere for a room we aren't finding reasons to leave constantly.

The air conditioning unit had dust and mold and the bath tub also had mold. There was a smell to the room that I couldn’t stay there. The host didn’t return my call or text.

Excellent location. Across from the bakery and restaurants. A very short walk to the ferry. The room was extremely basic. Only one hanging lamp at the far end of the room. The room is in need of an update or at least repairs. The bathroom sink is hanging on an angle. The valves for the shower leak all night. The mattresses are old and sag in the middle. Some of the others appeared to be updated. With a few repairs it can be an awesome place.

My dad always told me if you can’t say anything good don’t say anything at all. Gonna break the rule. On a positive note if your travel plans include leaving the room early and not returning until late at night then the room might be fine. The knotty pine seems new and the location is good. Ok end of positives. Negatives too plentiful to fully capture but the notable ones include only one light in the entire room and located opposite the beds so no reading allowed with lighting very poor. Only two electrical outlets in room so while they have a MW and coffee pot there was no easy way to plug in, if you have cpap then no phone charging, blinds on back window broken with a paper towel bobby pinned to block outside view, toilet paper holder in BR broken, bath tub moldy with sreaks in the tub, carpet musty throught. Door with auto-lock did not have a deadbolt or safety lock. Not a good choice for single women to rent. In any case probably the worst room I have stayed in outside of a third world country.

The best thing going for this property is its location. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go, it is in the heart of Macinaw City. We enjoyed that piece our stay. When it came to check-in, I had to touch base with the host when we were on our way to get the details. That is the only time I heard from her during our visit, in spite of reaching out. We stayed two nights. Half way through our visit I sent her an email just touching base about things that needed fixed in the place, all of which have been mentioned on others' posts. I felt like, before I gave a lower review, it was only fair to give her the opportunity to explain the situation. The only positive change that was made from previous reviews here was that a bolt lock was put on the front door. The bathroom door did not close all the way and we told her about that. I also let her know there was no way to lock the front window. Upon checkout, I once again encouraged her to make these changes to improve her reviews on VRBO. I did not get a reply from her from either of these messages. Hopefully things have been taken into consideration and she's making some more updates. It really could be a perfect place to stay for those visiting the area!

The location of this property is excellent and was the biggest positive. It was within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and attractions.Unfortunately, the property itself was very disappointing and did not match the impression of the listing. The room appeared poorly maintained, with broken mini blinds covered by paper towels held up with paper clips, dirty carpet, only one lamp, and a single electrical outlet.Our biggest concern was privacy and safety. While we were in the room, someone gave a quick knock and immediately unlocked the door and walked in before we had a chance to answer. He identified himself as housekeeping only after entering. We had not been notified anyone would be entering, and there was no interior latch or deadbolt to secure the room while occupied.There was also active construction and maintenance during our stay, including concrete work, loud equipment, and painting around the walkways, none of which was disclosed beforehand.The location was wonderful, but the condition of the property and the lack of privacy made this a disappointing experience.

Room was clean. A few minor issues, broken toilet paper holder and a broken blind, but quite minor issues. Location is close to restaurants and attractiona. Bed was very, soft, I am used to a harder mattress.

We stayed in room 5, and at first glance it looks like the pics. However, we noticed right away, things need repaired. Dead bolt hole needs to be deeper. No hole for safety lock. Window blind was broken, and paper towel was clipped on it to block the window. The thermostat cover was broke off. The sink leaked every time we used it. We had to put a towel on the floor to catch the water. Toilet paper holder was broke. The bathroom door didn't shut all the way. The shower valve was backwards so trying to find hot water was difficult. There was used soap and hair in the bath tub, and dark spots in some of the grout. The carpet was old and dirty. However, the location was excellent. The shops, and ferry were in walking distance and that made up for the inconveniences.
