Guests have access to most of the ranch, including walking trails and a yoga deck with breath-taking views. Outdoor showers are available for longer stays of two or more nights, and BBQ areas may be reserved by request. The ranch is home to abundant wildlife, deer, hawks, woodpeckers, and owls are regular visitors — making every walk an adventure. This is fully off-grid, powered by solar energy and supplied by artesian well water first claimed in 1892. Cell phone charging stations are available on request, and propane tent heaters can be rented for chilly evenings. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with anything you might need.
The journey is part of the experience. After turning off CA-76, you’ll travel approximately 6 scenic miles to reach the property. The first mile is paved, followed by about 5 miles of gravel along Nate Harrison Grade Road. This is a rural mountain road that can be narrow, uneven, and bumpy in sections, and it requires slow, careful driving. While it is typically accessible in a standard passenger vehicle in good condition, we strongly recommend driving cautiously, ensuring you have enough fuel, and that your brakes are in good working order for the descent.
Along the way, you’ll be treated to sweeping views, and you’ll know you’ve arrived when you reach a sharp left switchback marked by a stone memorial to Nate Harrison on the right-hand side, along with the sign.
Whether you’re here to hike, meditate on the yoga deck, explore the history of Palomar Mountain, or simply relax under the stars, this bell tent retreat offers a peaceful, one-of-a-kind escape. Experience the magic of glamping, where rustic charm meets serene mountain beauty.
