Welcome to this comfortable historic house in Clayton, NY! With three separate bedrooms—two full beds upstairs and one twin downstairs--there’s plenty of space for guests to relax and unwind. Just a few blocks from downtown, enjoy a short stroll to the Antique Boat Museum, boat tours, town parks, playgrounds, local shops and restaurants along the majestic St. Lawrence River! Clayton is a quaint, distinctive and beautiful summer destination, and our lovely little home is an easy and convenient base for everything it has to offer. With a full kitchen, dining & living rooms, a full bathroom and private driveway, guests are able to enjoy the comfort of a pet-friendly home while staying right in the heart of the stunning 1000 Islands! (Please note that this property is child-and animal-friendly, so if you have dander or pet-related allergies, this is probably not a good fit. It’s an old house, so the stairs up to the second floor are relatively narrow & steep, and it is not wheelchair-accessible. There are only 3-4 steps into the house itself, and the driveway is long enough to accommodate two cars. Please ask about the possibilities and limitations of additional parking.).

Mark’s concept of what it should cost for an entire house with a full kitchen & bath in downtown Clayton in the middle of summer is clearly uninformed. The house was cleaned thoroughly (by me & my daughter Jennifer) prior to Mark’s arrival & every surface was cleaned & disinfected in every room. All linens were freshly washed that day. If Mark read the description of the Mulberry Cottage, he would know that it is pet-friendly. Dogs & cats with guests have had accidents & although we shampoo the carpets at the start of each season, there are some stains on the carpets that do not come out. Most of our guests are grateful to rent a whole two bedroom house for only $200/night in Clayton, especially when it most certainly is thoroughly clean in every way. Everything is not only clean, but works perfectly. We don’t believe in throwing out things that work for appearance’s sake. If Mark needs to be surrounded by new things, he could’ve easily asked how old things were before booking, or simply read the description of ‘an old house’ that’s ‘cozy & clean’. Next time he can pay 3-5 times as much ($200-$490/night) and get one room at the Harbor Hotel.
