Sunset Island Resort

Sunset Island Resort, a 4 acre private island resort accessible by vehicle, boat or float plane. Featuring a modern log chalet, a cozy guest house, 8 camp sites and multiple houseboat tie ups. Beds for 18, capacity for up to 30 overnight guests. Make memories in the crystal clear water of your private bay, entertain on the lakeside stage, events lawn, private beaches, fire pit and hot tub over the lake. The space

Rental of Sunset Island Resort includes exclusive use of the property except for the owner's dock and float house. There will be no other guests, only your group to explore, entertain and enjoy.

4 acres of your own private island. Another 1 acre on the mainland for parking, RV's, trailers and storage.

Swim in the clear water, boat around Taylor Arm, fish the lake, enjoy the kayaks or water sports. Relax on one of 3 main beaches, set up a live performance on your own stage, soak in the hot tub or jump into the deep lake from the diving board. Bring your ATV, dirt bike or SXS to explore the wilderness access directly from Sunset Island Resort. Cook a feast in the outdoor kitchen, have a dance party, star gaze with zero light pollution.

Guest access

The entire island is yours with the exception of the owners dock and floating house. Owner or caretaker may be on site for maintenance or to assist with your event, but most likely the island is all yours.

Getting here

The island is accessible by land using a maintained logging road. While most cars are fine a 4x4 or all wheel drive is recommended. Sunset Island Resort is approximately 45 minutes from Port Alberni, with about 20km on dirt roads.

Transfers via pontoon boat are available from the Fish and Duck Resort. Inquire directly with them.

Bring your own boat. There are several boat launches on Sproat Lake and protected moorage onsite. Private float plane transfers are available as well.

Description of Sleeping Arrangements

CHALET ‒ main upper (3 bedroom) - max 10 occupants

1 bedroom has a king size bed.

1 bedroom has a queen size bed.

1 bedroom has a bunk with queen on bottom and queen on top, and a small toddler bed off to the side.

1 double futon is also provided in the den.

1 double pull out couch also in the den.

TENTING - 8 Tent sites spread throughout the property. Varying from close and convenient to private and quiet.



VAN AND TRUCK CAMPERS

Several spots to park your truck camper or van up to Sprinter van size on the mainland side of the bridge. Large RVs or trailers are not permitted. Our power and septic systems for the island are off grid and limited in supply. There are no power, water or septic hookups available.

HOUSEBOATS - There are several areas around Sunset Island Resort to park houseboats. Rentals are available from The Fish and Duck Resort. Houseboat staff will park and secure your houseboat rental in place.

Guest access

GPS directions are available for Sunset Island Resort. You will leave cell service, so take a screenshot of your directions just incase. There is also signage directing vehicle access guests. A detailed directions package is supplied after booking. Cell service is not available at Sunset Island Resort or much of the access roads. Starlink satellite internet is available on the property and cell service is available in the middle of the lake if you have a boat. If you turn your settings to “WiFi Calling” you can sometimes receive and make calls.

Other things to note

There is an area with BBQ’s and tables at the events lawn common area. We recommend bringing disposable cutlery and dishes for group meals and plenty of ice.
