Trails End Lodge is located in the area of Mt Katahdin and Baxter State Park. With 5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, you will find the lodge to be comfortable for a large group. When not enjoying the great outdoors, relax by the firepit, play a game a pool, darts or foosball. Hiking, biking, ATV, snowmobiling, rafting, fishing close by. Restaurants, groceries, brewery only 5 minutes away. Shin Pond Village is 30 minutes away. Plenty of parking for several cars, trailers and toys!
So Much to Do! If you love the outdoors, you`ll love it here. Northern Maine has many hiking spots, such as Baxter State Park and Mount Katahdin. Enjoy the numerous ATV and snowmobiling trails. Though we usually have direct trail access, our trail is not accessible right now due to logging operations.
Trails End Lodge was built in 1992. You won`t find any modern city like furnishing here but rather a warm, comfortable and cozy lodge style home.
Located 4.6 miles off of Route 95, the lodge is very easy to get to. Set back from the road a bit, there is a large yard with many trees and a firepit with seating for 10. The chairs around the firepit were made just down the road by the local Amish.
There are five bedrooms in the house. Two are located on the main floor, both have queen beds. There is a full bath on the main floor.
The family suite has it`s own full bath and is located up a small flight of stairs off the private bath. There are two bedrooms in the family suite. One has a queen bed as well as a full bed and across the hall is another bedroom with a queen bed and a day bed with two twins.
The is a seperate sleeping area that we refer to as `The Cabin` which is attached to the house but has it own seperate entrance. The Cabin has a queen bed on one side, a half bath in the middle and a full size bed on the other side.
The kitchen is full equiped with dishes, Calphalon pots and pans, crockpot and blender.
The kitchen table has seating for 6 and the outdoor patio table has seating for 6 as well.
Start your morning off at the coffee bar with several tea options as well as coffee. Enjoy the 4 flavor options to add some kick to your morning!
The living room offers a large and comfy sectional, a full size couch and a recliner. There is a 70` smart TV as well as a little electric
woodstove, just enough for some ambiance.
The gameroom is located in the basement. There is a pool table, a fuseball table and a dart board. There are also board games. There is a horseshoe pit in the yard as well.
The back patio has a gas grill and table with seating for 6.
There is a small screened in porch, a perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee!
There is a washer and dryer in the lodge.
Cell service is very spotty but once you connect to the wifi, you will be all set.
Groceries:
Ellis`s Market, is 5 minutes down the street. It is a full market offering Hannaford brand products.
Trail Access:
There is a park and ride for snowmobiling 3.5 miles down the road at K & C Quick Stop where you an access the Rockabema Snow Rangers trails.
Taylor`s Citgo, right off I95, also has a park and ride option for snowmobiling. They are located 5 miles away.
Katahdin Valley Wheelers park `n` ride is located 4.6 miles down the road. There is gas and a restaurant onsite at the park `n` ride. Katahdin Valley Wheelers maintains approximately 90 miles of ATV trails that travel through Stacyville, Sherman and Benedicta, Maine. The trails go to a landmark known as Bible Point, and there are four picnic areas along the trails.
Patten ATV Club Park and Ride is located on Route 159/Shin Pond Road and is approximately 12 minutes away. From here there are100+ miles of readily accessible side-by-side trails, with a new trail started last season. Their ATV trails travel through: Patten, Mount Chase, Moro, Hersey, Crystal and Stacyville
Shin Pond Village Park and Ride is located 20 minutes away. There is a general Store, gift shop, great restaurant and bar. Regular and non-ethanol gas is available is also available there as well.

Hiking/Sightseeing:
Baxter State Park
The North gate to Baxter is located just 15 miles past Shin Pond. There are over 40 peaks and ridges besides Katahdin in the Park. The trail system features over 215 miles of trails popular with hikers, mountain climbers and naturalists. . The park also consists of many spectacular Rivers, Streams, Ponds and Lakes for canoeing, fishing and swimming. It is a true gem!
Katahdin Woods and Waters
The North entrance to Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument located just 15 miles north of Shin Pond Village. The Monument, is a U.S. National Monument spanning 87,563 acres of mountains and forestland in northern Penobscot County, Maine, including a section of the East Branch Penobscot River.
Hike Mt. Chase
Also located in the Shin Pond area, Mt. Chase is a beautiful hike. Expect to take about 1.5 hours to reach the summit.
White Water Rafting
Northern Outdoors offers white water rafting with 14 miles of stunning scenery, a steep granite gorge, endless forest, class 5 rapids, rafting over waterfalls, floating past Mount Katahdin, crossing under the Appalachian Trail, on the edge of Baxter State Park. A classic top to bottom river run, and one of Maine’s most epic outdoor adventures. Located 51 minutes away at Big Moose Inn on Millinocket Lake.
Scenic Moose Boat Cruises
Board the Katahdin Princess on Millinocket Lake for breathtaking views of Katahdin, Maine`s highest mountain and said to be the first place in the United States to be touched by the rays of the rising sun! Two hour cruises are available with a 4 person minimum, where you`ll visit moose feeding areas - and often see an eagle overhead en route to its nest. Deer, bear, otter, rabbits, loons, ducks and fox are all common attractions as well. Located 51 minutes away at Big Moose Inn on Millinocket Lake.
Guests can use all parts of the house except the owners closet and garage.
