Beautiful area. Nice shallow shore for kids to play. Kitchen and bathroom could have been cleaner. The mold I read from the one review posted at the bottom of the shower curtain is still there. The view portrayed is not what's posted on the site details. There's no clear view of the lake. There is a view but there are cottages and trailers in the view that are not in the photo. The posted photo shows the actual view. There were also several boards on the deck the are rotting. There aren't 2 bedrooms. One of the beds are in the main living area so that was a bit disappointing. But overall a pleasant experience.

While the location is truly lovely, the accommodations require more transparency on behalf of the owners. Photos were AI to enhance the property which in turn affected our expectations. Windows are old and very dirty with spiders and flies. Curtains require repair and replacing. Cupboards had mouse droppings and were very dirty, mouse droppings were also around the decor and shelves. The door in the bathroom and front door get stuck when you open them (on the floor/porch). Shower curtain should be replaced due to mildew buildup. Pros: views by the water, fire pit by the water, new fridge, shower was ultimately ok as was bathroom, sheets clean. I would recommend more hooks in the bathroom, a bath mat in front of shower, clearer instructions on accessing the key, where to dispose of garbage and in the listing a mention about non potable water would be helpful. We also did not see a hair dryer or a fire extinguisher. If you are used to camping in a tent, this place is a slight step above. If you expect a beautiful mindless stay at a cottage, this isn’t the place for you. The listing NEEDS to reflect the correct experience, we were not prepared for what we walked into due to lack of truth in listing. Ultimately Jason was very kind and we were somewhat happy with the stay due to our ability to pivot in these situations but I could see how some might be a bit shocked like we were at first. AI photos are NEVER okay when people are paying for something they see.

We are disappointed to hear about some of the housekeeping concerns you experienced. The comments regarding the cupboards, shower curtain and windows will be addressed with our cleaning and maintenance team. We only wish these concerns had been brought to our attention during your stay, as we would have been happy to address them immediately. Phillips Bay Resort is a rustic, seasonal cottage resort in a beautiful but very natural Northern Ontario setting. Our cottages are older and intentionally maintain much of their traditional cottage character. Being surrounded by lake and forest also means insects and wildlife are part of the experience. We recognize that this style of accommodation may not be the right fit for someone expecting a modern hotel or luxury cottage. We appreciate your suggestions regarding hooks, a bath mat, key and garbage instructions, and clearer information for guests. We will certainly review these. Thank you again for staying with us. While we are disappointed that the cottage did not fully meet your expectations, we appreciate your feedback and are pleased you were ultimately able to enjoy your time at Phillips Bay.
