Urige Hütte im Herzen der Black Hills

Omas Haus ist etwa 800 Quadratmeter groß. Es hat ein Schlafzimmer mit einem Queen-Size-Bett und eine eigene Hintertür. Der angrenzende Schlafbereich verfügt über 2 Einzelbetten. Der große Wohnbereich verfügt über einen Esstisch, 2 Sofas sowie ein Queensize-Bett und einen Fernseher. Die Küche ist mit allen Arten von Geschirr und Kochutensilien ausgestattet und ein Propangrill steht zum Kochen im Freien zur Verfügung. Das Badezimmer verfügt über eine Badewannen- / Duschkombination. Handtücher und Bettwäsche werden gestellt. Vor dem älteren Teil des Hauses befindet sich eine abgeschirmte Veranda, die von zwei riesigen Fichten beschattet wird. Es ist ein wunderbarer Ort, um eine Mahlzeit zu genießen oder einfach nur zu entspannen und dem Plätschern des Baches zu lauschen. Rehe und Truthähne besuchen den Hof häufig und können von jedem Fenster im Haus aus betrachtet werden. Angrenzend an das Haus befindet sich das sogenannte Bunkhouse. Es hat eine Seite, die einst eine Garage für ein Auto war. Es dient lediglich zur Aufbewahrung oder zum Schutz von Motorrädern. Die andere Seite wird hauptsächlich als Abstellraum genutzt und verfügt über Zustellbetten, falls dies erforderlich sein sollte. Das Anwesen verfügt über zwei Schuppen, die hauptsächlich für Pferde genutzt werden, aber auch einen Motorradschutz bieten können.
Dies ist ein Nichtraucherhaus. Freunde können gerne draußen rauchen. Haustiere werden von Fall zu Fall geprüft und müssen vom Eigentümer und / oder Manager genehmigt werden. Die Gebühr für Haustiere richtet sich nach Art und Anzahl der Haustiere. Es könnte weniger oder mehr als 75 $ sein.
Dieses Haus wurde kürzlich renoviert. Während der Grundriss unverändert bleibt, sind die Boden-, Wand- und Deckenoberflächen alle neu. Omas Haus ist mit neuen Dächern, Fenstern, Jalousien, Verkleidungen, Vinyl- und Laminatböden und vielem mehr ausgestattet. Das Badezimmer wurde vergrößert und verfügt nun über eine Waschmaschine und einen Trockner in voller Größe. Das kleine Haus war schon entzückend urig. Wir hoffen, Sie werden es jetzt noch schöner finden.

We had a great stay at Grandmas House. Close enough to town but yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. All of our needs were met, and we really enjoyed the screened in porch. We had deer and turkeys practically every morning and evening. We had great communication with the owner and the caretaker. We loved it and would definitely stay here again.

Quiet getaway

Older cabin that has been updated as a vacation rental property. On arrival, 2 of our party noticed an odor and started having headaches and nausea that resulted from some plug-in air fresheners - we removed them and opened all windows and rest of stay was fine.This was an ok place for us, though because the beds, except for one, occupy same living space as the kitchen and living room, it wasn't very restful for most of usLocation was nice and central for Black Hills exploring and we had elk in the backyard one morning!

Cozy Cabin in Great Location

The cabin was very close to Hill City, but far enough out of town to be peaceful and quiet. The stargazing at night was amazing. The host was very quick to answer any questions, and the check in and check out was easy. Thanks for the great experience!

Secluded getaway

Property is very private! Very little traffic goes by. Located only a few minutes from Hill City, with a grocery store and shops. Deer are very frequent and we even seen some big elk in front yard. Property was perfectly suited for our family of four, but would easily accommodate 6 or more.

Perfect Family Vacation!

Our 5-person family and 2 dogs had a wonderful time at Grandma's House. We loved how peaceful and quiet the area is, yet how close we were to all of the Black Hills attractions. The back porch off one of the bedrooms was a favorite place to read and birdwatch in the mornings and evenings. Just a half mile down the road from the house is the beautiful George S. MIckelson trail. We would be thrilled to stay at this location in the future!

The description was accurate for the cabin and the setting was perfect for what we wanted. We had 6 of our grandchildren and do an "adventure" every year. We loved hiking behind the cabin, set up a tent for the boys, and had a great time sitting under the stars at night. Thank you.

Family Trip to Black Hills

This was a little slice of heaven. Set back from the town in the hills, but only a 3 minute drive to the main road and stores, this cabin and surrounding land offered tranquility, peace and quiet. You can tell the home is steeped in love and years of family history. Everything was clean and very well stocked, including actually having good, sharp kitchen knives! That's a small perk, but as someone who stays in rentals often and is used to old, worn out utensils, that was a treat in itself and just one example of the care that has gone into this home. The beds were comfy, having laundry and TV streaming services accessible was convenient, and the screened in porch was the perfect place for morning coffee, watching the deer and all kinds of birds, and taking in an epic Black Hills hail/thunder storm! Communication with both Cody and Meghan were effortless. Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed this little cabin and the quiet and rest it offered us after our days of adventuring in the Black Hills!

Great cabin

We really enjoyed our stay. There was a glitch with the check in process and the cabin had not been cleaned upon our arrival. They came right over and cleaned it and paid for us to go have a wonderful meal at the Alpine Inn as a result. They were very apologetic and accommodating and checked with us throughout to be sure we were enjoying our stay so no we had no complaints whatsoever. We would definitely go back the next time we are in the area.

This property is relatively convenient for accessing the Black Hills motorized trails, and the outdoor space is beautiful, broad, and quiet, with early morning visits from deer and turkey. The groundskeeper was also very kind and provided a hose so I could wash my dirt bike — a thoughtful touch.Unfortunately, the home does suffer from some significant drawbacks. Others have mentioned it — the odor. It is real, it is persistent, and it is insidious. To combat this, I recommend at least three scented plugins and three scented candles running at all times without interruption. In addition, the place is plagued by flying and crawling pests, the Wi-Fi is slow (though usable), the single window-unit AC might work if you close the kitchen door and only occupy the living/sleeping area, but it is underpowered for cooling the entire space, and the place desperately needs a deep clean (don’t dare a glance into the slotted vents).If you only care about proximity to the trails and seclusion, this spot is convenient. But if you’re looking for a comfortable, clean stay with reliable amenities, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Another great stay

This was our second stay at Grandma’s House. It was great again. It had everything we needed, except for a hose to wash our motorcycle. We contacted the property manager, Meghan, and she went above and beyond by bringing us one. All we really asked for was an outdoor spigot for water access. So great! Peaceful and quiet. We had coffee every morning at the front porch.

Amazing Breath taking experience

This cabin was just far enough outside the hustle and bustle of Hill City but still close enough we could hear the stream train. Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We enjoyed being able to make our meals using the grill. We did run out of propane and I made 1 phone call and within a couple hours they brought out a new propane tank! We loved being able to come home from a long day of sight seeing and have plenty of room for everyone to spread out. A nice addition was the fire pit added. Only improvement would be to add wifi for guests. Thank you for making our family vacation so wonderful.

Nice and clean

House was super clean and was 10 min down the road to where we needed to be. Very secluded feeling if you like that.... The place had a smell to it and was told to open the windows at night to air it out and it should go away the next day. We just turned on the air (window) and by the following day it was less noticeable. There is a stream out front that the kids liked also.

I am Cody Butler. I live in Amarillo, Texas and have my whole life. I have taught school for 28 years. My family is very western and horsey which will explain the horse pens you see on the property. My dad was just an old cowboy who raised quarter horses in Texas, and my grandmother (from South Dakota) raised Arabians. My kids and I continue the family horse tradition using our quarter horses for ranch work and 4H contests. These activities and the general 'busyness' that goes with raising kids has been keeping us too busy to enjoy Grandma's house as much as we would like to, and that is one reason we are offering it to you.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

My grandparents moved from Sioux Falls to the Hills in the late '50s/early '60s. When they moved into this house only the main house with the kitchen and the bunkhouse existed. There was no indoor plumbing. The tax office tells me it was built in 1920 or thereabouts. My mom and we five kids would visit every summer for several weeks. We four girls would sleep in the bunkhouse at night. The outhouse was behind the bunkhouse, and could be really scary for little kids at night! But we had lots of fun riding our horses, hiking, picking berries, swimming and eating Grandma's home cooking. We did not even know we were poor. It was quite possibly the most amazing time of my life. Then in the '70s my grandparents added on the large living area and put in a real bathroom, and that made it super nice. My grandparents, Bobby and Pete Taylor passed the property to my mom, and she passed it to me. It is difficult to take care of when I live so far away, but it is very important to me that it is preserved and taken care of and hopefully, in a couple of years I will be able to enjoy it more fully. In the meantime, we wish to share it with people who we hope can appreciate it and experience the flavor and charisma of its quaintness. We truly hope your experience there creates a life long, pleasurable memory.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig

Being from west Texas where trees and live water are sparse, it's not hard to understand how much I appreciate a property with pine and aspen trees and a creek! I am in love with the sweet red house, with it's ancient, screened in porch. My grandmother made jelly from the chokecherry tree next to it, not to mention the ones that now grow on what used to be a rock cellar. It's sweet kitchen had the most adorable old window that has to be pulled in and up, and propped open with a tree branch. I think it is terrific fun to open the window between the kitchen and screened in porch and simply pass food through the window to the table on the porch. Silly, I know..but fun. Not the Hilton, but way sweeter. Life in the red house is simple and cozy.
