Spacious 1875 Farmhouse Retreat + Barn on Historic Property, Sleeps 13
Welcome to a beautifully preserved 1875 farmhouse with modern amenities, sleeps up to 13 guests, offering the rare combination of peaceful farm living and close proximity to Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, UNC, Duke, and the greater Triangle area.
This is more than a place to sleep, it’s a place to slow down, gather, and experience something truly unique.
A Historic Property with Character & Story:
The farmhouse built in 1875 by John Riggsbee and documented in the Chatham County Historical Records, this farmhouse sits on land rich with local history. The nearby John Riggsbee Cemetery is a quiet reminder of the deep roots of this property. The property was then renovated and built onto in 2008.
One of the most special features of our property is our renovated tobacco barn, incorporating original wood dating back to 1825. The barn has been thoughtfully restored into a welcoming gathering space that guests consistently say becomes the highlight of their stay.
The Setting: Peaceful, Scenic & Private:
Located on a private road shared with two neighboring homes, the property offers quiet surroundings and scenic views while still being minutes from town.
From the back porch, you may see horses frolicking in the neighboring pasture and you can listen to the sounds of the backyard water feature (while you say 'hello' to the fish). During warmer seasons, beautiful water lilies bloom across the water’s surface. Enjoy your morning coffee on the back porch, relaxing under the trees, or gathering in the barn at sunset, the outdoor spaces invite you to unwind.
The Barn Experience - The restored tobacco barn offers:
• Ceiling fans for warm afternoons
• Gliding chairs for relaxed conversation
• Foldable picnic tables for outdoor meals
