Watch the whales jump in your "front yard"! This rental has been known as "Mele Kohola" which means "Song of the Whale" in Hawaiian and they will entertain you day and night, especially in whale season (Dec - Apr)! The waters in front of Mele Kohola are very deep, and the coastline is shaped in a gentle cove tempting the whales and dolphins to play very close to shore. Enjoy the unobstructed bi-coastal views from the unit. Welcome to paradise!

The space
Please keep in mind, only the DOWNSTAIRS unit is available for rental. This is a separate unit from the upstairs portion of the house, guests can expect quiet and secure privacy.

Enjoy this stunning cliffside unit with a kitchenette, hot tub, and an ocean facing patio lanai! Escape the busy city life, relax to the whisper of waves breaking on the shoreline, and feel the caress of gentle trade wind breezes. This is an ideal unit getaway for couples and/or small families.

The unit includes a living room with couch, chair, TV, small futon, and adjacent work area. There is a wet bar/kitchenette, a King bedroom, and a full bathroom.

We recommend stopping at a grocery store or doing any needed shopping in Hilo on your way from the airport.

CHECK-IN: 3:00pm unless otherwise arranged. Early check-in can be requested with host, however is not guaranteed. Please plan on checking in no earlier than 3pm on the day of your arrival. We’ll send you the email to access the lockbox (which contains the entry key) as soon as our cleaner gives us the thumbs up that unit is ready.

Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

Laundry Area: You may use the laundry machines located in the garage UPON REQUEST.

Keep in mind: The first 30 feet of coastline around the entire island is considered safety zone property. The property is secure and fully fenced. You occasionally will see people on the cliffs fishing and enjoying the scenery. They are not trespassing, it’s legal due to state law.
