Summary:

Located on the secluded East Coast of Barbados, Pebble is a beachfront, holiday villa that blends with the earth itself, bearing all the perfect imperfections of the rugged, windswept side of Barbados. Designed by Sophie Domenge and inspired by the sculptural work of French architect Jacques Couëlle, Pebble is a unique cocoon on the Atlantic coastline; a place of sanctuary to feel restored, connected to nature and immersed in the sound of the sea.



The villa has been built in harmony with its surroundings, boasting seamless, curved ceilings and roughly textured white walls. The locations of the three ensuite bedrooms, living spaces and shuttered windows have been dictated by the position of the sun - the natural flow of which you can follow through the rhythm of the day, starting with morning yoga in the spiritual room and ending with a nightcap on the roof deck, watching the moonrise over the plunge pool. Two suites offer views out to sea, with king-sized beds, while the third bedroom features four single bunk beds, great for groups and children over 12.



Sustainable materials and local craftsmanship run through every part of Pebble’s interior design - most notably, the built-in furniture crafted from a 300-year-old mahogany tree that came down in a nearby storm. Native, silvery coral stone has been used to create interesting artisanal details throughout the property, from large sculptural boulders to sweet little hearts scattered across both the interior and exterior walls. Shells foraged from the beach just a few steps away have also been used as decoration – as well as pebbles and coral stones that are stacked prettily in the window frames.



With a breath-taking view over the Atlantic Ocean, Pebble’s outdoor living space is perfectly suited to long, relaxing days in the sunshine. Enjoy grass games, retreat to one of the garden’s hammocks with a book or put the fire pit, pizza oven and barbecue to good use with a spot of evening entertaining. Enjoy exquisite meals prepared by your in-house cook, or cocktails served by your private butler while you relax by the fireplace. Daylesford homeware pieces fill the fully equipped kitchen, and every bed is topped with beautiful Indian quilts and cushions that have been handcrafted by artisans at Nila House.
