Old Florida: superb 1920s house in tropical garden

The spacious house is situated in the historic and very vibrant neighborhood of Old Northwood, the main street of the village with post office and lots of fabulous restaurants is only four blocks away. The house from 1926 is equally elegant and laid back. It has been carefully renovated and is surrounded by a spectacular garden with old palm trees, bananas and a huge Mango tree, it really is a tropical haven. The two back units (which can be rented separately) have their own enclosed garden areas; the sitting areas in the main garden are for your use only. The property is situated in historic Old Northwood (corner of 28th Street and Spruce), near the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a prime location: Its a very short drive across the bridge to Palm Beach, its world renowned stores on Worth Avenue and the Atlantic beaches, to downtown West Palm Beach, the airport and the train station (Tri Rail to Fort Lauderdale, Miami etc). Its easy walking distance to the intracoastal waterway, the Palm Beach Maritime Museum (from where you can take a water taxi to Peanut Island) and the Currie Park with its bike paths, tennis courts and phantastic views. Within two miles you will find City Place with its shopping, restaurants, theaters, sidewalk cafes, nightclubs and boutiques; Clematis Street's shopping and nightlife, the Kravis Center for the performing Arts, the Norton Museum and the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The vibrant shopping area of Northwood Village is four blocks away. Here streets are lined with antique stores and tons of restaurants, amongst them the upscale Cafe Centro. Do not miss the monthly Art&Wine promenade. No pets and no smokers please. Please tell us a bit about yourself, we are looking forward to hearing from you. Aside from the main house you have access to the garden and sitting area and to the outdoor shower which is located between the main and the back house. You will be sharing the walkway with the guests in the back units (in case they are rented to a different party). My sister or me might be in the area during your stay, if not, we can always be reached by telephone. We also have a local manager who can assist you in case of any problems. Cleaning service can be organized if you wish the house to be cleaned during your stay. Historic Old Northwood was developed in the 1920's during the Florida boom era. Prominent architects such as John Volk and William King designed homes that made Old Northwood one of the most exclusive communities this side of Palm Beach. The best way to get around is by car. There is ample street parking in front of the house. The bus to downtown West Palm Beach is two blocks away. Most importantly: enjoy your stay! Please make sure to keep the garden gate and apartment door locked at all times. No drugs and smoking, no parties or loud music please.
