Fantastic 2-bedroom apartment on Riviera Maya

The Grand Luxxe is Vidanta at Riviera Maya's premium 2-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath apartment.

The apartment offers a full range of amenities including 2 large bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with either a king size bed or 2 double beds. Each bedroom also includes a full bath (with a soaking tub and a shower), and a walk-out to the terrace (deck).

The central portion of the unit includes a full kitchen, a dining area for 6, a king size pull-out sofa bed, and other furniture appropriate for teens or children to sleep,

The terrace includes a large step down Jacuzzi pool, 2 reclining chairs, a table for 4, and a massage bed. You can get a massage on your terrace.

The resort offers a full range of amenities.

- There are well over a dozen places to eat on the property, ranging from casual food served at the pool and pool bars to over a half a dozen fine dining opportunities. (Vidanta lists the Havana Moon as casual dining. It is excellent, and has excellent food and a fantastic view overlooking the ocean.)

- There are several pools on the property. Most have swim up bars.

- There are several beach clubs on the property.

- There are several stores on the property, with offers ranging from a reasonably large grocery store to clothing and jewelry.

- There is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Patrons staying at the Grand Luxxe get 1/2 off on greens fees.

- There are several spas, as well as workout areas.

- There is a water sports shop. This offers a number of water sports, including snorkeling and scuba diving. (I had a fantastic dive in a cenote through this shop.)

- There is extensive entertainment in the evenings, including a Cirque du Soleil on the property.

- That is worth repeating. There is a Cirque du Soleil on the property!!! You may want to make a reservation with the a Cirque du Soleil before you arrive.

There are a number of 'Resort Hotels' on the property. There are pools, restaurants, spas, Beach clubs, and other facilities which are available only to guests staying a specific hotels (and higher rated hotels.) Guests at the Grand Luxxe had access to everything. There is a swimming pool (with a bar and restaurant) and a lazy river that were only available to guests at the Grand Luxxe. (Since I was last there, they have started a sixth hotel, which is even more luxurious than the Grand Luxxe. I believe that hotel also has their own pool. That would be the only place on the property that is not open to guests staying at the Grand Luxxe)

The Riviera Maya has other attractions as well. Playa del Carmen is nearby. You can go by boat from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. Xel-Ha and Xcaret parks are also nearby. You can get other tours, including tours to Tulum and Chichen Itza.
