Host communicates well. The Keurig was broken and s/he got a new one next day. House was clean and tidy. The curtains need to be closed all the time because there are no blinds. This made the house less enjoyable. Door didn’t lock properly. The deposit for the house was very large (80%) and I couldn’t get it back in more than 15 days-this was the worst part of the house.

Thank you again for staying with us. I am Sorry to hear about the issue with the deposit. It is handed directly by VRBO. I could have called and assisted in the process had we know but I don’t see any communication on the matter. Must guest select the option to purchase cover from their third party provider versus put that much money down as a deposit. I would recommend further guests reaching out to us or VrBo prior and we can assist

Pros: Host was communicative and very helpful. Location was great, very quiet and safe, check-in a breeze. Everything worked well. Both bathrooms have been very nicely renovated. For 2 people there were plenty of nice new clothes hangers, and there were warm throws and comforters and plenty of full-length mirrors. Cons: It was not comfortable. The only place to sit, aside from the dining chairs, was a low, very soft couch which we sank into. Essentially the only lighting was bright ceiling LED's. There was no lighting for reading. The TV screen was too far across the room from the couch, The king bed had one bedside table with a lamp but nothing on the other side. The room with 2 beds had only one table and lamp. There were drapes on the windows which did a good job of blocking light, but there were no shades or blinds, so with the drapes open others could see straight in. In the kitchen the microwave was several inches too low so you had to bend over to see the dials on the stove. There was a high open hole in the hall wall with electrical wires. There was no Kleenex, and no kitchen towels.It had not been well-cleaned. The drawers in the kitchen had not been wiped out in quite some time, and the mitts were dirty. There was hair from a previous occupant behind the bathroom door. There was a big painting it the living room of boys urinating against a wall, a similar photo in one bathroom and another of John Travolta sitting on the john in the other.

Pros:•The duplex is centrally located. South Lamar has a wide variety of retail establishments. •The neighbor was quiet. •The communication with the owner was good –needed repairs happened promptly.•It was easy to setup your own streaming services on the TV. Cons: •The ad says, “newly renovated”. The kitchen counter and the bathroom appears to be the only thing that is newly renovated. The bathroom renovation included tiles are very slippery and represent a fall hazard.• The rest of the property is old and tired, including the appliances – in particular the washer/dryer, and the stove.•The mattresses on the beds were old and tired -- too soft – we woke up with back aches. •The floor for the living/dining area is just the painted concrete slab. There is one area rug, and the bedrooms have wood flooring, but the overall effect is quite sterile. •The furnishings in the living/dining area consist of a breakfast table and chairs, and two large couches –no comfortable chairs, no coffee table. Two of the four chairs for the breakfast table had to be repaired. •There are no blinds on the windows –just curtains. If you wanted natural light, you had to forego privacy.
